One of the advantages of "old" boon users. Got switched to a german card number and didn't lost the plus account. The onliest bad thing is: I can't add this boon card to Curve anylonger (which was sometimes useful during cashback when the terminal doesn't accept contactless).

And you can't add it to Mastercard Priceless =(

Did you really have Terminals that accept CC but did not work wireless recently? In Germany in my area that did not happen to me at all.
USA is something different as they pretty often still have this built in Readers in their touch-screen.

I would say about 5% are like this in Munich...

Ok. Just a tip, to get the maximum out of the cashbacks (if they are amount driven), just get a voucher for something with it (Amazon, Aldi, whatever).
That's the fastest way to get the cashback

There is a gas station that is close to me, which is mostly the cheapest here, which does accept all kinds of credit cards, but they disabled wireless, as this terminal is very old and they had alot of issues with wireless payment. In times wireless was still active, it was one of the terminals I had to enter my boon PIN, as it did not support CDCVM.

Never saw these one for years in Germany. If not NFC capable, they‘re working at least with the chip. Magnetic stripes are dead here.

(Experiences in Nürnberg, Erlangen, Frankfurt, Köln, ...)

Quick question.. with that Apple Pay Payback Amex card I now have... I get those coupons... is it wise to just activate all of them or is there a limit or downside when doing so?

Thanks a lot^^

Can be activated at once but just a single one per brand. Do not forget to scan your payback card, else it won't be assigned. Just paying with AMEX will only in result of 1p for every 2€ instead of boosting points.

Family members and I spent sometime at Outlet Roermond. Payments with my watch mainly worked. I wanted to get the cash back, so I paid via watch for them. One shop didn’t work. Guess what... POS switched OFF... ON and vibration! Some French fries... Because I couldn’t “fire up” AP, my cousin paid contactless. I’m spastic... He had the feeling someone nagged behind us, so he swiped his card.

Just saw those at Christmas in ICE Bord Restaurant, included in the screen. I just felt like in America :D

Talked to someone at Commerzbank about something unrelated to Apple Pay today. Got to the topic anyway, and he told me he believes they will join "at some point in February or March next year". I don't think he knows any specific dates and wouldn't put too much weight on this claim, but maybe it's of interest for some people here, as it shows that they're at least aware of this and things are supposedly in motion.

Would trust him. Commerzbank will have to come 2019, they probably wanted to launch at the beginning but their IT is currently in a complete revamp so no resources for such a quick implementation. comdirect managed to launch it since they have a different card issuer.

I'm not so hopeful that Commerzbank will be on board. My local branch told me back in August that they were expecting a launch soon. When I went in to close my account the branch manager stated that nothing more had been said... it had gone all quiet. Technically Commerzbank has most of the work already done, as they have teamed up with Google Pay. It must be a business decision. Santander likely pulled out as well over that. Their 1Plus Visa must be on the edge of profitability anyway.

Apple Pay is not that cheap after all. It is an open secret that Deutschen Bank joined Apple Pay mostly only as a sort of expensive PR campaign to gain positive views in the private market. A market that they disregarded arrogantly for much over a decade and want to recover as their others businesses implode one after another...

CommerzBank on the other hand need every single cent of profit as they still suffer from the last financial breakdown. Perhaps this is the reason. Just speculating. As you said, there will be no technical reasons as Google Pay already works.
