Now we know why we see Apple Pay symbols in Maps! Location service!

"
Was speichert Apple?

" Source: https://www.t-online.de/digital/sic...-fallen-bei-der-nutzung-von-apple-pay-an.html

I highly doubt that is an accurate description of how Apple Pay works. First time that I have heard that, and then also T-Online being the source.

Another thing about T-Online News credibility, just read the article about "diese Worte dürfen Apple-Store-Mitarbeiter nicht sagen". That is such inaccurate BS and absolutely untrue.

And now the Austrians are freaking out... bless them...
Huh? Why should they? We here freaked out in the past.

You doubt it? Read the description for wallet, under location services, when you`ve activated "when used.

They promised partner accounts in februar 2018 already. Then they introduced later in 2018 spaces and again said partner accounts are coming later in 2018 with a big update. They just keep making promises but dont deliver. They have millions of millions but seem to focus to much on expanding than on introducing new features - essential features that any bank should have.

I wish N26 would launch in the Netherlands so Maestro would be enabled to be tokenized for AP
But I guess they probably won‘t in the near future, as MC Debit is their primary card product...

Well, if they delay partner/joint accounts after the announcement of AP@S, they lost their chance again ;)

Relaxed position for this year.

I ordered an AMEX Payback Card for my mother. One extra card is included, if I would order this for myself who gets my data then, AMEX only or Payback too?

If it is a Payback Amex, both companies I guess. But remember, Amex bought Payback a few years back.

If you read here, this is not 100% correct. So, there are other partners between. Do they do profiling? Payback does it, I know. Last question, am I automatic a Payback customer, If I get the partner AMEX?
https://www.payback.net/de/ueber-payback/daten-fakten/

I just don´t like to pay 4€/month for an Amex. I pay 25€/year, for CC at S. And Amex isn`t widespread. I like to pay a bit, but not too much.

See a few pages back. IKEA seems to not accept amex contactless. Had the same issues two times... AP not accepted, physical card with chip accepted.

Had the same thing happen to (and wrote about it a few pages back) at an ARAL gas station and other places. New hotness: A local pastry shop (using orderbird incl. the orderbird terminal) supported Amex through Apple Pay last year but wouldn't last week. Guy at the counter said "Amex is not working". I told him I had paid the same way here before, then just used my Mastercard in Apple Pay and it worked.

So, Amex is dead for me. Less than 20% of all my attempts at terminals with Apple Pay *AND* Amex logo work.

Funny thing. Ikea is the only location here I noticed that accepts Amex but not contactless. All others I tried so long do. (Several gas stations, Kaufland, Rewe, Aldi, DM, ...)

I would contact Apple as well as Amex.

Amex got a great App and if contactless works its smooth and fast.

But atm I an not satisfied with Amex. Like you mentioned there are many large Store that aren't accepting contactless (Aral, Ikea, Mediamarkt) for me the advantage of not entering a pin is lost then (usual amount is >25/50€)
I will cancel my amex if DKB is onboard, if there is no fast update of the terminals. (Lidl, Aldi, Rewe, DM, Rituals, Douglas works perfect.)

I was "scared": my local Burger King accepts Amex via ApplePay and their terminal is a "VR-Pay"

Today same for me at Uniqlo in Cologne. I wanted to pay with my Amex via Apple Pay, amount was about 140 Euros. Terminal told me 'transaction not possible' or something like that. Then I used the physical card and it worked without any problem (did not try card contactless).

Could it be because it was more than 50 Euros? There are several infos on the Amex page that contactless works up to 50 Euros (I thought this meant contactless without Pin)

Weird situation...

Paid several hundred Euros with Amex contactless card and Apple Pay.

Seems that there are many old firmwares (or contracts?) out there in some regions ...
[doublepost=1547246849][/doublepost]Contact Amex with info about the store and the question, why you should use Amex if you can not use Amex via Apple Pay in stores where you can use Amex ;)

I wrote an email to them :)

I called the support on last week, if there is a requirement of accepting the contactless amex. They told me: the merchant is not committed to accept it. I cannot really believe this, would be the wrong way from my point of view to get a high acceptance of amex in Germany. But maybe your email will (hopefully) give us other information. would you like to share it with us?

Sure I will do that. So today I tried it at Intersport. Apple Pay did not work with Amex, after that I tried contactless, did not work either! Just the physical card worked. So it does not seem to be an Apple Pay Problem, contactless Amex is just not supported :/

When I hear all this I am glad that I did not convince my wife to the the Payback Amex for ApplePay as she would have killed me if getting in these situations.
My Boon works all the time. And for backup I have a N26 card with a higher amount in the card. Why no completely N26? Because I love Boon as it gets me Amazon rewards by recharging. So my amazon Card can be somehow used with ApplePay

Soooo I got some infos... but not from Amex yet:

I work in retail so I just called Ingenico, the payment solutions provider, today and asked about Amex. They said that on our terminals Amex contactless is indeed deactivated and that I have to call Monday again and then someone will tell me what to do to change that. He also told me that Ingenico, although they provide us with the device, does not do anything in the Amex payment process really. With Visa and MC they handle the transactions, with Amex they don’t, Amex does that itself.

I guess the problem is on all Ingenico terminals because Amex contactless is probably disabled by default.

I will tell you more on Monday. :)
