Depends on, if the social media team knows what they are talking about and does not mix up topics like „supporting Apple Pay“ <-> „paying with the S-App“ <-> „using NFC“

Yeah, but using NFC on iPhone to pay something u have to use Apple Pay. And there is no sense in arguing that paying via NFC using an iPhone needs open access to the NFC chip and saying its not possible in Germany cause of Apple restricting the access to the NFC chip.

And I am totally sure that we would be able to pay using apple pay when Sparkasse/VRBank would like to support it and would talk to apple... when they go to apple and say 'hey we do have XXmio customers, and we want apple pay for them, lets do it', apple would answer 'oh no, Germany is a cash-country, wait a few years'. and tbh I don't think apple didn't tried to talk to them to get it released here...

Well I think it’s not ok when social media teams tell ******** to customers. And do fingerpointing on others. Paying via NFC on iPhone is Apple Pay nothing else. It’s the same with „bringing software to the iPhone“ no one is complaining bout „oh Apple is not letting us install our own software, we are forced to use the AppStore“

Sure Apple is not unguilty, but it’s nothing like „oh we would like to support, but bad bad XXX is not letting us“

I don’t think so. The social media from Sparkasse clearly does not know what it is talking about exactly. Their is a lot of mixed misinformation here. There are a lot of tweets out their with totally different information but from the same source.
Denise simple just happen to have the knowledge to differentiate.

Ok, but if you say, the Social Media team does not know what they are talking about you also can not take this one tweet as a proof for your theory.

Btw: it‘s very single sided to blame two bank unions if it was only up to them. There are dozends of other banks to jump in the line, if there was a line

Pls read the whole conversation. I’m of the impression that their may be some mutual agreement within the banks to negotiation as a whole to show strength. Such thing did happen more or less in other markets too. But in the end such didn’t last and one bank will bite the dust and do as Apple tells them eventually.

Next possibility is the next quarterly earnings call. Should be around beginning of September if I recall correctly. But we would need to see something happen in Norway and Poland soon...

In some countries it was announced without any event taking place, so any day is possible. I have a feeling though as it may be still a bit of a wait.

I bet that If they want to be in the same timeframe then google, they don't care about a sales call or whatever. Or they will make a press call.
But that does not mean anything as I don't want to judge, where the process is stuck, if it is the banks or Apple or something of both.
But girocard can be one problem, as when I read it correctly Commerzbank I'll start with Google Pay only with credit cards?

GiroCard is no problem for at least Apple. It‘s not the only debit system they have to support.

And the sources about Google Pay and CommerzBank said, it would be a simple step to switch GiroCard on afterwards. Perhaps they just want to know how the market will adept Google Pay before the next steps are taken.

Maestro was available before iOS 12. Italian banks have had it for a while. Further proof: I have my bunq cards (mastercard and maestro) both in Wallet and working. Only thing is, that the maestro card can only be used in physical locations and doesn't work for online payments (although it theoretically could and probably will with iOS 12).

V Pay might be interesting for Poland and a few banks in Germany. Most Girocards are co-branded with maestro though anyway.

that's waht I rememberd, too.

And here's the list from vpay.com:
Millions of V PAY cards are issued by banks in Bulgaria, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland
So no connection specific to Germany, but european VPay.
