Just another fact about contactless payments. In Poland about 80% of all POS transaction are by contactless card or mobile. That’s a long way to go...
O and ApplePay dominates contactless payments in the USA.

Hmm. This shows how uncommen nfc payment still is and how low the numbers of nfc capable cards must be in the US. The market share of Apple Pay is not really high...

NFC is not that uncommon. Chip and PIN cards with NFC are. So there is not that much pressure for the merchants to change their infrastructure. I think this is one reason for Samsung Pay with mag strip emulation. Standard wise the USA is way behind.

NFC Payment opportunities do raise in the USA, but there are a lot of diners which have the card readers built into the cashier monitor. That's why they are n9t easily changed.
Had this in a couple of diners like Denny's, ihop, Mexican etc.

More and more "festivals" are cash-less like "Nova Rock" or "Electric love" here in Austria. And we all know the advantages. It´s getting more and more. And the young people getting used to it.

I always find it suspicious when two bank apps have an update at the same time haha. In my case the Dutch banks bunq and Rabobank.

haha yeah, yesterday, N26, ING Diba and Santander releases an update for their app on the same day ;)

If you all want to see if Apple Pay MAY be incoming, these would be good hints for you to check yourself:
1) Is the German Apple Pay site live: https://www.apple.com/de/apple-pay/
2) Is boon. available in the German App Store (just go search for it)?
3) Are there any leaked help websites from banks (or does it appear after a search)?
or probably the best guess...
4) try to add any of your bank cards to wallet and see if anything changes. Let's say the T&Cs appear then you can be certain something is happening in the background. I regularly go through all my German bank cards, but to this day still nothing... In other countries T&Cs appeared months in advance.

With everything else only time will tell.

How do you go through your German bank cards?
If I want to add with Region Germany, I get an error right away.
If you change to region Irland or France, forget it, you cards will never be able to work, even if Apple Pay would be active, as Apple seems to have a bank/cardlist for ever country. The list is also viewable in the dialog.

Edit (Example Irland after adding fails):

You can add cards with a region set to your liking. Granted, only credit cards will be possible, but I tried this by adding a UK card with the region set to France and it still worked. Brazilian users were in a similar situation (see here: https://www.macrumors.com/2017/12/12/digital-wallet-bank-tocs-brazil-apple-pay-launch/).
All the region settings do is activate the card adding function. The rest is done through the Apple Pay servers.

Interesting banks would be DKB, Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank, Postbank, Comdirect and ING. Would be interesting to know generally to all of you: Have you tried this? Any success with any of your bank cards?

Well this means exactly nothing ;-)
I thin that means a lot. It is a very clear statement, that Apple Pay won't come to Germany.

Yes docfred, I know.
