These workarounds with second accounts, that you have to put money on just for using Apple Pay are ridiculous.
If you would get the mentioned DB Card that charges your regular bank account, would be a good alternative without this multiaccounts rubbish getting your earnings here, putting them there, paying with this card, categorize it over there... even the prepaid boon card is getting on my nerves because your regular credit card bill gets messed up with "boon. payment via boon" messages and you can't really categorize your spendings.
So would be interesting if the DB card really is sold to non-DB-customers? I don't read it on their website? One possible way to get a clean solution would be Curve, if they are getting Apple Pay running in the near future. Paying with the curve card and the exact amount of money with the correct retailers name is being charged on your regular bill. clean solution.
After two days of playing around with bunq ... don't think this would be a regular basis for me. even the app is not appealing to me. don't know if this should be a banking app or a smartphone game with its elements and imitations of gamification and social networks.
pros: simple and fast activation (did it monday evening at 9pm), instant transfers working (transfered some amounts back and forth of my regular account), fast support, nice community
cons: clearly the app for me. this is nothing that I would call banking app. to less information at first clance, to playful, see above. no access on the desktop/web. and the other little things, that a real bank would offer that have been discussed in this thread.
just my opinion after two days, I do believe that there are many people who are happy with the provided functions and the style. especially young people who think facebook is the internet will love it. but not the bank or app for me.
Though I will keep the account in the next time to watch the development.
A colleague did the same with N26. So we shared experiences.... same result. both banks have nice ideas but are lacking behind other banks at standard functions without delivering a killer feature for us.
funny thing is... many "groundbreaking" functions that both hype banks deliver were already offered by other banks over a decade ago. like the Advance Bank that offered their customers a function like "spaces" or the several accounts at bunq already in the early 2000s.
As often said... the market is big and there are many products that everyone will find a suitable solution.
