What you see is a testimonial using Apple Pay via boon. a service not official launched in Germany yet as a prime example how well and convenient mobile payment could work. That is quite bonkers.
Why not simple show Sparkasse or even Google Pay which both are official in Germany.
Apple Pay is the gold standard. To me it is just that simple.

Yeah i found that funny, too - but i have to say - even me was able to do the boon-workaround in less than 10 minutes. (it MUST be easy) it would have disturbed me more, if they would have shown the crappy sparkasse-solution...
I really love boon@applepay :D - and though i also have a n26 account - its more convienient to have auto-top up from my AmazonVisa and getting reward points which i wouldn't have with n26 alone; so i'm not sure if i would close my boon account even if apple pay comes to germany via n26&co

As the September event starts in a few days I checked again if the German ApplePay Website (https://www.apple.com/de/apple-pay/) is active now. Still nothing. As I remember every other country got there page when it was announced (with the note "starts soon"). Can't think of a reason why it is not up yet. Does anyone have a guess?

Maybe „not coming next week“
[doublepost=1536513782][/doublepost]Or having a bigger update of contents on day of keynote, so they can put on the Apple Pay page with the new products together...

Nope, not every country got a page before Apple Pay started. Many additions lately such as Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Poland etc. didn’t have their Apple Pay page updated until it got launched. The only one that did get a „coming soon“ was UAE.

and Brazil

Sure? I remember that the site for Brazil was not up until launch day. But I don’t bet on it.

Can also remember that the site was already online with kind of orange letters that said: "Coming soon"

EDIT: Here you can check when the Brazil Site went online or when the first screenshot was saved in the archive and you can also check it for other Apple Pay sites:

https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://www.apple.com/br/apple-pay/

EDIT2: Referring to that website Apple Pay UAE was online about 1 month before launch and Apple Pay Brazil 2 months before.

Ok. What about other countries?

I don't know if there were more countries in the past that were labeled as "coming soon".

Just change the 2 letters (br for Brazil) in my link to another country and you can compare it to the official launch dates on wikipedia. Guess it should work for them as well.

I thought there were a lot more countries with a 'coming soon' page. So I looked up the applepay countries:
  • Norway: didn't have one
  • Poland: didn't one
  • Ukraine: can't tell
  • Sweden: can't tell
  • Denmark: can't tell
  • Finnland: can't tell
  • UAE: had one
  • Italy: had one
  • Taiwan: had one
  • Ireland: can't tell
  • Spain: can't tell
  • Japan: had one
  • New Zealand: had one
  • Russia: had one
  • Hong Kong: had one
  • France: had one
  • Switzerland: had one
  • Australia: can't tell
  • Singapore: can't tell
  • China: had one
  • UK: had one
When I can't tell there was no snapshot before the release date. At least 11/21 had a page before the start date. As far as I can remember most of these countries had also an announcement before the start. So I don't understand why Germany don't have one yet.

I can say for shure that the first six countries on your list didn’t have a page before launch.

And also, didn’t Italy like launch without any announcement at all? Why would it have a page before the launch then?

Italy had one for sure. See also (German): https://www.iphone-ticker.de/apple-pay-startet-in-italien-111748/
Einen Monat nachdem Apple die italienische Sonderseite zum kontaktlosen Bezahlsystem Apple Pay erstmals ins Netz stellte, startet die iPhone-gestützte Geldbörse heute offiziell.

Given that Apple mostly launches newly announced countries and new banks in existing countries at the same time when the launch is announced at a close time, there are some news.

So, according to a polish YouTube video, PKO BP should launch Apple Pay on September 20, which would be next week. (
)

But now, some polish blogs are saying that Apple Pay for this Bank has been postponed to the first week of October (probably 04/10) because Apple doesn’t want any other other product to get the medial attention between the 12th and 28th of September except for the new iPhones.

Which just reinforces why Apple has never launched new countries before October in the past years.
AP has never launched in September, even after all those keynotes.
Spacing out the AP launch in a new country then boosts PR again a few weeks later.

October sounds very possible. Though I would have thought they would use the new iPhone spots to show the new way of payment using the ads.

But we have waited that long, we can wait till October. It’s done when it’s done...

Btw Consorsbank is now at least saying on Twitter they are interested in Mobile Payment and want to offer it to their customers. So a good sign for Apple Pay maybe?

Consorsbank is a brand of BNP Paribas which already offers Apple Pay in Poland and has announced it for France for the end of the year, beginning of next year.
Consorsbank Germany cards are issued by BNP Paribas SA, France, so they’re probably going to get Apple Pay at the same time as in France.

Its a pity they doesn't even announced a date today at the keynote :( quite disappointed
