"As you can imagine, we have received a large number of qualified applicants for this role. At this time we have chosen to move forward with other candidates that meet our current needs. We want to personally thank you for investing the time to speak to us about this opportunity. "

gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :(

How long did it take to get that message? I went to a Manhattan recruitment event and am wondering how long I'll be waiting. Of course, I'd rather get a definite "no thanks" than wait around forever with nothing.

They did say at the event that I attended that if you're turned down you should re-apply in 90 days and spend the time getting to know Apple products better.

My impression was, however, that it's more about personality than experience or knowledge. They showed us this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=CMj6G6ZALSw

Actually, yes. I know someone who was passed into all the interviews, background check and was selected to goto a store. then never heardback and when they inquired to find out where they would be employed at got the generic response letter.

kind of a terrible experience and utter waste of time, i mean for both ends in a sense. they wasted money on a background check. they wasted their time on multiple interviews under false pretenses.

i hate to say this but i guess it's better for me to leave MRs

Why would you be happy to work at an Apple store? That's on the same level as flipping burgers. I hope you realise this yourself before it's too late and you're stuck working for the nosey pricks the rest of your life.

From what I've gathered, they don't necessarily hire the people most knowledgable about Apple products, but rather those who can dumb down themselves for the customers. Often times, people who read sites like this know way more than the average consumer knows and could talk over their head when explaining things.

I expect Apple looks for the right attitude and personality first and knowledge second. They can teach you how to explain everything to the customers, as someone said earlier.

It's all about interpersonal skills, being outgoing friendly, etc.
they figure some techs or knowledgeable people lack interpersonal skills, and can come off as arrogant in explaining things to customers because they know more and therefor are sort of stuck in their mindset/ways.

My experience has been different. I didn't get called to go to a group seminar - I simply got called for a 1:1 interview with a store manager for the Genius position. I also applied for a different city (out of state) that I want to move back to and scored a phone interview with the Store Leader 2 days after submitting my resume. Waiting to hear back at the moment... :p

Anyone else get invited to the seminar in Chapelfield, Norwich on the 26th?

When did you apply, if you don't mind me asking? I simply don't know how long it takes them to get back to you after you've submitted your application...

WhAt is the minimum hours you can work for apple in the uk?

It varies - always go in on the pre tense of doing more than you want - it is a lot easier to change your hours down than to be hired on low hours. 24 hours is the minimum you can get hired on really (although it depends on store) but you can transfer down from there i.e., I went to 8 hours a week

Going to the seminar tomorrow 3-5pm in Manchester, UK. Absolutely ******** myself to be honest, so much to the point that I'm considering not going =.=. I'm useless at group things and having to do things in front of other people is my worst fear.

Hey, just wondering if anyone can help me with what to expect.

My local UK store has an opening for an Inventory Specialist. So I applied with my CV and cover letter tailored for this role.

Checked back the next day and there is 4 positions in 'My job list'. The original IS that I applied for but also Manager/Specialist and Creative (at a store 300 miles away)

I've completed the assessment questions for all of these roles. Any ideas on what to expect next? Does everyone get the assessments and put in for extra positions that they didn't originally apply for?

So two weeks later and nothing has happened.

Judging by this thread, this is fairly normal? You'll only hear if they want to bring you to a seminar?
