Still looks like a scuba mask… i think this is one thing they need to address on a second gen. They need to make it look far more natural… like wearing shades etc
They surely need to make it look like one of those other more natural goggles/masks out there that covers your eyes with a seal.

Maybe ski goggles?

This is just going to lead to more anxiety and ADHD. Multitasking spreadsheets and making toasts for your kid at the same time is disgusting.
Years ago, they said online gaming simulations were helping ADHD and Autism. But it turns out they were wrong. Multitasking might have problems, But in a controlled environment with more knowledgeable doctors nowadays it might indeed help them.

I love that! Wearing the AVP while ironing clothes and folding laundry.

I'm going to remodel my bathroom in the coming months and have been (3D) modeling the new bathroom in SketchUp. I would love the ability to walk into the existing bathroom and have the Apple Vision Pro superimpose the new layout and fixtures over the existing walls as I walk through the bathroom. 🤯

Imagine doing that with any kind of home renovation or even an entire new-home build. That would be insane.
(I'm sure it's been done on other VR headsets, but I fully anticipate a much richer experience with the AVP.)
Sounds like the exact type of use case AR is ideal for. Not sure what app can do this right now but if one doesn’t exist I’m sure it’s coming. Maybe IKEA or Lowe’s or Home Depot will make such an app. Good luck with everything 👍

Its perfect for watching content by yourself, and on the go. Take on a flight etc combined with airpods something like this bit a cheaper version for content consumption only would be a huge seller for alot of consumers.

This device has been made for much more than consumption… and as a consequence the cost is extremely high.
The cost is high because there was no way to shave down MVP. They gotta sell their first million to continue to justify the R&D for the version they sell to the next 10 million people.

However even then, it feels like there is some future use case or breakthrough that hasn't been shared yet that justifies this product, since Apple is hungry for volume.

Its three launch bullets seem to be apps, media (production films, experiences, and personal photos/videos), and collaboration. While I'd find these compelling (at a lower price point), I still don't see anything like quantified self on the Apple Watch to get people to say they want to wear one of these for a significant amount of time.

And that’s ok. It’s not for everyone and you should do what you enjoy. You sound like you enjoy watching tv with the fam, nothing wrong with that, same as nothing wrong with other people wanting to watch content by themselves on the Vision Pro.

That was a weird ad. Music sucked too

The hate for AVP is probably in part because a lot of people can't afford it. I bet if it cost $999, there would be a lot less hate and more enthusiasm. Hate often disguises people's shortcomings.
They are realist, not haters. Apple has had 10 years to come up with app ideas for this and have zero. The best they have are straight ports of iPad apps.

I can afford several, but I’m not getting one just yet. Not because of hate. I think it’s the most amazing thing Apple has done. I can’t wait for what the future brings with this if Apple does what it does best pushing the technology forward. I hope they don’t drop this and keep it going. Cant wait to see this 10 years from now. Then I’ll get it!
No. You CAN wait 10 years and then get it.

If you couldn't wait, you'd be buying one now. Like me. I'm excited for what ten years will bring in Apple Vision Pro. This will help me be a part of it as it happens.

Not saying you're wrong in what you decide for yourself. After all, I can also afford several, but I'm only getting one for now. So you're only buying one less of them than I am.

This only tells me that not even Apple knows what it’s supposed to solve like so far it just seems like another passive consuming device, ironically lacking in the games department. Everything just floating 2D windows 😴

When will you even get the chance to watch a movie on your own on this thing unless you are single.

The ad makes it seem like it will be totally normal to walk around with those goggles on all day surrounded by your family when in fact (at least judging by my Quest 3), you make the conscious decision like „ok I am going to put it on for about an hour now while my wife is picking up the kids“. It’s way too „in your face“ (get it?) to just casually wear it all day and if you don’t wear it all day, you might as well just pick up that call on your phone like what are the odds to be wearing it in the exact moment you are receiving a call.

honestly, I would find it downright rude. I am not using my Quest 3 when my BF is home for example (unless we play a game in turns) because I don’t want him to feel ignored

So many "experts" in this thread without having even used the device. One of the Vision Pro's goals is to reduce the "rudeness" you speak of.

You have a wife and A BF? Interesting life you live. 🤣🤣🤣

HomePod launched, didn’t sell well, had its price dropped, still didn’t sell well, and was discontinued before being brought back with a revised version.
I bought that original HomePod, and I still use it to this day.

Actually, I don't use it daily, but my kids use it every day to play music I don't understand at all. (Crab Rave and FNAF fan music.) My interaction is usually "Hey Siri, volume DOWN" or "Hey Siri, stop playing".

It's so funny to watch so many complain about anti-social behavior while spending inordinate amounts of time on a web site focused on a company they hate, talking about a product they hate. Looking for more reasons to hate.

Nobody is giving out "i predicted it to fail!" points.

Observing that it appears to isolate people and that it looks creepy when people wear it around children is NOT “hate.” The kind of extreme reaction many of you have to any criticism, no matter how relatively mild, is just as big a problem here as the actual knee jerk naysayers. In essence, several of you complaining about AVP criticism are actually doing the thing you’re supposedly upset about.

A million apps on launch day.
That was key to the iPad's appeal. There weren't many iPad apps at launch, but most iPhone apps would run on it. This meant that you could use the iPad for the vastly better built-in Mail app, and you wouldn't have to put it down and pick up your iPhone to check your checking account baance on your iPhone (because your bank hadn't upgraded their app yet).

You didn't have to give up any favorite apps to use an iPad. For the most part.

And for the most part it's going to be true for the Vision Pro. Everyone's aware of some notable exceptions, and there will soon be lists of incompatible apps. There will also be lists of workarounds. I'm not affected by Netflix (I just unsubscribed after 20+ years for unrelated reasons). Youtube does affect me, but I'll be able to watch it in a browser.

There will also be lists of apps that best take advantage of Spatial Computing. There will be lists of those that use Spatial Computing in annoying ways. And there will be disagreements about which apps belong in which list.

We'll probably have to talk about skeuomorphism again.

Well I have a Quest which is basically the same thing just with worse imagine quality. Also, the wife part was just a rhetorical scenario to be more relatable to the straights on here

I don't know why but this commercial feels creepy to me.
Seeing these people doing daily chores with a blanket pulled over their eyes....

I don't want to sound like a grandpa, but if this is the future.... I can see how some people would elect to wear this over their eyes all day long to shield themselves form the truths of the world.

We can see what social media and phones were absorbed by the masses. Riding a public transport, everyone;s stuck to their phone.
If the future brings this "cyberpunk" type of interaction.... well I gotta say it's both cool and scary..

This commercial did not work for me at all....
