My refurb just shipped...shipping from San Bernardino, CA. Is this normal?

Thanks!
Yep - but it's delivered in 2 days by FedEx. Use "Hold for Pickup" option to get it early in the day instead of waiting for the FedEx delivery guy (they drop these off around 9:30AM at the FedEx Office stores along with the other Express / Next Day Air deliveries).

Just an FYI, but although they are more expensive than refurbs, B&H does have the base 2.3GHz quad-core model back in stock. They were listed as discontinued for awhile:

They've also got the 2.5GHz dual-core model:

It looks like Best Buy Business has the quad-core as well, even though it isn't listed anymore on the main Best Buy site:

This makes me want to sell my 2.6 quad mini I bought a month ago and just buy a 2014 and keep the profits since I only use it as a HTPC since I've picked up a hex Mac Pro

I agree with Magbarn. You should run the new machine to make sure it functions properly. Imagine the trouble shooting if you install the updates and it doesn't work. You won't know if the updates broke it or it was broken to begin with.

I like to live on the edge, did the dual drive mod with ifixit's kit/guide and upgraded the memory before even plugging it in, works great.

I'm an iOS noob, got confused about installing the OS on SSD, ended up just downloading and installing on SSD.

Have a 2TB spindle drive coming for storage, tearing apart an external HD to get the bare drive for install to reduce clutter, etc.

Need a power extension cable for 2nd U2414H Dell monitor, hoping the daisy chaining works well, am reading the Dell monitors are problematic :(

Very pleased with it so far, one of my nitpicks about Windows is buying the OS over and over.

I have a question, why are they so expensive?! Shouldnt the quad core be around $600?? I actually really need a desktop as a main PC rt now and i cant seem to find any quad core that arent almost 1 grand.

Supply and demand. If Apple hadn't made the 2014 a serious step down (aside from the GPU), the 2012 wouldn't be as sought after.

Now, the most affordable option for a mac with an i7 Quad Core is a $1700 iMac.

I'm running dual Dells, one on hdmi, the other on DVI. Works fine. But I'm using hdmi & a TB-DVI, no chain.

So what was the base price of a 2012 quad-core i7 2.3 & 2.6 when they first came out?

Same here, 2x Dell U2410 monitors, HDMI->DVI and TB->DP, no problems at all.

Nice, am using HDMI to receiver/projector, then want to daisy chain the Dell 2414's using Display Ports, have read the 2424's can be a little flaky, hoping I won't run into problems. The longer power cord should be here tomorrow.

I believe you. If Apple had offered Haswell i5/i7 quads and Iris Pro in the same old duel SATA3/replaceable RAM chassis the 2012 quads might be selling for a couple of hundred dollars less than they are now. People who bought 2012 quads several months ago would be devastated.

A whole bunch of 2012 Mac Minis just popped up in the refurbished store.

After staring at my computer all weekend willing them to appear in the store, scouring other sites and ALMOST buying an open box 2014 from Best Buy, I'm super excited to get the entry level 2012 for $419. Mostly because anything is going to be better than my 2008 mini.

Yep, finally scored a i7 2.3 for $589.
Nice deal.
Crazy that I am excited to buy an old computer. Apple really messed up with the Mini.

Same boat...bought on from the Canada Store $629...same thing as you.

Just bought a rMBP 15" two weeks ago from the Refurb store too

And a Time Capsule

And a Airport Express

This is getting expensive!!

True, the cost always piled up.
I've got this Mini when I have to travel so it is a secondary computer. Just upgraded my MacPro internals. $$$$
Well, it's all a business expense, I can tax deduct it so it helps a bit the burn.

A few more just hit the site.

If the 2014 didn't suck so bad, the 2012 refurbs would last more than two minutes on the site.
