Apple Unveils 10th-Gen iPad With Complete Redesign, 10.9-Inch Display, USB-C, and More

wow what a sad way to update one of your most important products. does anyone remember when apple actually introduced new ipads in keynotes? steve jobs would never OMG
The only things that are an upgrade from the 9th gen are:
1) It uses USB-C. Even then, that's neutral for me since I still charge my iPod Touch 5 with lightining! (admittedly, it's been a glorified flashlight for years, but it's slim and light enough to fit in my front pocket without fuss, so it still comes with me).
2) 10.9" screen. Larger from 10.2". Bigger screen may get more cumbersome, so while I'm not dismissing it, I can't know if it'll be a good fit for me unless I can try it out.
OTOH, the cons I'm reading are:
1) base storage is still only 64 GB
2) no home button (although this does increase screen size without that much in device size)
3) no headphone jack
4) +$120 price tag

10.9 air models But the prices are getting higher and in Japan, they will be almost 300.00 us higher. terrible. If I weren't an apple stockholder, I wouldn't bother buying.

Right? I can keep that dongle in the same place as the female-to-female lightning adapter and the apple pencil 1 charging cap — now if I only I could remember where that is….
Why is everyone losing their minds about $449 price tag? The original iPad sold for $499 for 16gb 12 years ago. All much cheaper than a Newton! I'll give you the Apple Pencil compatibility is just stupid, I don't think the price tag is out of line. The 9th generation iPad will likely remain popular with schools (I work at one) as the school prices is $299.
Because the Air took that $500 price range and the iPad introduced the low $300’s price range. People were excited about a redesign of the low end expecting it to be around $350 or so. Going from $329 to $449 was a big jump that many weren’t expecting
Wait -- am I reading this right? USB-C but only first-generation Lightning pencil support? With a dongle? And for more money?

At this point I really hope I'll find a decent offer for the 2021 model.
Yeah like they have with the Macbook Air, and other ipads in the past... It's not unheard of. It may not be this "exact" same model but a newer model in the same or similar chassis.
The 10th Gen is essentially an iPad Air without the M1 and has a lower price point. Dimensionally it’s almost the same size as the Air, but a bit thicker while still thinner than 9th Gen iPad.
All told it’s not a bad redesign and upgrade over the 9th Gen, but that absurd price jump is crazy. And the 9th Gen and Air also went up a bit in price—sneaky.
I suspect a lot of mainstream consumers are going to miss that home button.

Turns out I bought the right ipad at the right time (9th generation, last year).
If that was a serious post, this is a serious question: what are you looking forward to gaining?
