Waiting for that flagship Android mini.

So sad companies haven’t shown any love for the smaller tablets :/

The new iPad is much closer to the iPad Air than the old one. The price hike is not totally unjustified.

Making it only compatible with Apple Pencil 1 just to differentiate it from the iPad Air.

I mean they really are so close in terms of specs already...why bother having both?
To make it work with the Pencil 2 they would have gone with a laminated display, so would have increased the price even more. That said it is still $50 too high IMO.

What a flop. $449? The Air is $520 at Amazon right now.
€589 in Europe – last year's model went from €399 to €439 in the Netherlands. Air starts at €789. Which means no new iPad for me.

I would love to have the camera on the side, but I don't €589 love it. Same as the prices of iPhone 14 made me decide my 12 is definitely good enough for another…indefinitely, I suppose. M1 Air price bump means if I were buying it today I wouldn't really be able to justify spending *so* much on it. M1, not M2.

I would love to know the sales numbers in Europe/UK, 2022 vs 2021. Is it better to earn 15% of €399 or 30% of €439? (Rhetorical question.)

Looking at this and a lot of other recent price increases on new models. I think when the M2 Macbook Pro 14"/16" comes out. There's going to be a price increase and the old model sold for the same price, with fewer upgrade options.

So, if you're holding out on buying a MBP. I think you'll be in for a rude awakening. There will be no saving money on the old model or getting more for the same amount of money on the new model.
Correct. It will become increasingly rare to see an outgoing model sold at clearence price when a replacement is unveiled.

This is why last month, I picked up a used M1 MBP with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.

It's the first time that I found it difficult to justify the price of new apple products.

That new price point is ******* nuts! Thats way, way too much an increase. An increase of $30-$50 I could have understood, but this absurd.

One can only hope when the existing stock of 9th gen iPads is gone the price will come down significantly on the 10th gen.

That could be whats at play—they want to clear out a sizeable stock of 9th gens.

I am surprised it’s a 10.9 screen. It’s basically now the previous iPad Air.
