We’re going to find out real soon how well people like being immersed for 2+ hours anyway. Watching a 3+ hour movie in that environment might be more than most really could deal with.

Immersive Reality Sickness coming to users in 2024.

Nope. It will either be a new product added to a very successful mix of products OR another product fail on the pile of products Apple has tried before that did not sell at a level to keep going. Apple has launched both types before and will launch both types many times in the future.

To hit home runs, one must endure some strike outs. And you don't know if the next swing is at least a base hit until you take the swing.
Yes, and what a lot of people seem to fail to grasp is that even when Apple fails, they use that failure to design better products.
2013 Mac Pro: failure
Mac Studio: success.

12 inch MacBook: failure
M1 and M2 MacBook Air: success

iPod Nano Watch: kind of a success, mostly a failure. Those who had them seemed to like them but the iPod Touch was where it was at in 2010.
Apple Watch: success.

Apple Newton Message Pad: failure, but those that had them loved them.
iPad: success.

And they’ve got plenty of other examples, there was a terrible Motorola/Apple iPod phone from 2005, even Steve knew that thing was junk and apparently it’s existence is a big part of the reason the iPhone ever happened.
Maybe no iPhone without the ROKR E8.

You are not a part of the market Apple is pursuing.

It's about AR... not for projecting multiple giant virtual computer displays in your living room space so you can play games (although that kind of comes along for the ride).

Yet, that use case is one of the main ones people point to.

Interesting perspective. You could very well be right. That said, when people talk about multiple monitor setups, my hunch is they want to see all of them. After all, if you have a three monitor setup on your desk, most likely you’re using all three together, dragging windows between them, putting your active document on one and palettes on another, etc.

true, but I think the point is, at any given time you (or at least me) are really only focused on one monitor. Sitting here I have three, I am vaguely aware of the one to my right (it has my messages and a document I was referring to ) and the one to my left (it has my email and some pdf files, but they are not in sharp focus for me and so if they were in low resolution (low bandwidth) wouldn't effect my experience. I can drop and drag files and when I turn my head to my monitor on the right to follow the file I dragged, then it IS in focus but now the central monitor is not. That's my real world experience. why does my VR world have to be different. Now that would be strange.

How the majority of use cases will go:

-Bring home VP, configure, set up, adjust, etc.
-Watch some spatial videos, maybe part of a movie, looks cool, etc.
-Maybe try an app or two. Also cool, but don't think will use all the time.
-Remove VP from head, set on coffee table, check email on phone.
-Go eat lunch.
-VP sits mostly unused for remainder of ownership.

The end.
That would pretty much be me, but I would update it repeat the cycle every 8-10 months hoping for something new.

My favorite was the G4 Cube, which led to the Mac Mini.

I think it would be a bigger issue based off sheer vanity. Many people require loads of styling to “set” their hairstyles. I’m not sure most of these people will opt to walk around looking disheveled on the behest of using a Vision Pro.

Meta Quest 3 get people in here laughing cause the battery is very short ( 2.5-3 hours ) but when it’s Apple vision they come up with the craziest excuse to make it look like it is a feature for the Apple device….

What were they thinking? The ”see through” is ridicolous. Why didn’t they just go for the absolute best screen money can buy and call it a day, with phenomenal head tracking?

AR sucks, it’s this decades 3D.

I think the first generation of this thing is intended to show "what it can do" but won't be for most people. Just like the first iPhone or first iPad were kind of lame in many ways while also being incredibly expensive and most people had no intention of buying one, these 1st gen products were mostly to get them started. Then over the years I guess it will greatly improve.

What sucks, in my opinion, is that if you're into VR gaming, then this won't even cover that. You just bought the most expensive VR headset ever created by the most advanced tech company in the world, and it can't do what a VR headset released 10 years ago could. I think that's quite disappointing. Most people won't bother buying 2 VR headsets.

Those googgles that consume like a Cray (i guess they'll be hot, too) will became just a gimmick for riches that will be used twice or to show-off with friends and then forgotten in a closet.

So does the Vision Pro have a small internal battery? If you swap battery packs do you have to shut it off then turn it back on with the new one? If someone knocks my power cable will it just immediately shut off?

Man, I really hope Nat Geo & Universal Music Group finally release the U2 3D concert film for in home viewing. This would be great for the AVP!! The runtime is only 85 minutes so I should be able to watch the whole movie without having to switch battery packs...

I don't think so. If it did, (I think) apple would have already mentioned it in the pre-release hype video or other marketing material.
