Other than people wanting the springbar adapters, I think most people should just opt for reputable 3rd party band makers that are having the adapters made to Apple's specs (and colours) and selling them packaged with their bands.

These guys are a good example on how to do it right (yes, I know - adapter only thread - but I think that topic is soon going to be moot):
http://www.clockworksynergy.com/shop/product-category/straps-for-apple-watch/

...and they're going to have a pile more (additional 15 silicone and 20 nylon) in by the end of August.

I will second this! Clockworksynergy is the only company i've dealt with that sells the straps with good quality adapters. I own 3 from them and they all slide in the watch like butter. I would have liked the option of springbars but that will probably be soon.

Hey you're the one claiming these are somehow better.
Pardon me for wanting some evidence.

They are good adapters, i would say marginally better than other ones i have purchased. I have a mixture of regular and springbar type, Purchased from 4-5 different places and none come close to the finish on the 3 clockworksynergy ones i bought. Ofcourse they are not perfect but they are the best on offer right now bundled with straps. I have a SS so all my adapters are SS.

Anyone out there seeing the Spring bar Adapters being done in polished silver with MORE than just the SIDES being polished? I have 3 of the spring bar adapters and love having been able to put different bands on but would love to have fully polished adapter at least for the parts you can see. I know the Apple Classic style adapters I have are fully finished in polished silver. Thanks.

Just clicked on link and the pull down size menu shows both sizes.

That's new, but it's great!

Although...now that I've been at this a while, I think it's almost worth purchasing a set of adapters for each band so you can just use them as Apple intended and slide to change without messing with the adapters.

That's what I'm planning to do. Some will go on the Classic type adapter and others on the spring type. Some bands I have will only fit on a spring and some bands look best on one type or another. I have 3 of each style right now but have more bands than adapters.

the fit looks no different from the ones that come on, say, the hoco band to me - look at their promo images on a sport watch. does the shipped product fit better (or is it more seamless/less noticeable with the SS watch?)

I can't really tell that well from the photos and i don't have an actual hoco band with adapters in hand to give you an honest answer i'm afraid. I've now purchased over 15 adapters (utica guy, lnkoo and a few other brands on amazon) with exception of some being springbar type and the others apple type i would say the clockworksynergy ones have the nicest chromed/stainless finish completely, even around the black spring button. The ones purchased elsewhere all have some type of unfinished look where the black spring is that is hidden once fitted to the watch.

If they are all made in the same factory then clockworksynergy is selling the adapter that passed Quality checks. The ones that didn't pass quality check for some reason or another get offloaded on ebay/aliexpress et al.

i guess if you treat fit and finish differently, they could well be better finished! the problem with fit i'm talking about, is that you can see the adapter poking out a tiny amount all the way along the top and bottom edges of the watch if you look top-down. maybe it's not so obvious on the SS watch but there's a definitely shiny lip that doesn't need to be there!

Wouldn't it be possible to fully polish the adapters ourselves?

Hmm. Are you talking about the regular adapters or the spring adapters? The regular adapters I'd see that as a problem, as you have the rubber coverings for the spring areas. You would likely have to disassemble them first.

You could use any of the stainless polishes out there and maybe a buffing wheel on a dremmel to get the job done on a spring adapter. Hopefully you don't take too much material off....any material you take off will only make the adapter looser in the channel. A micron or two wouldn't hurt. :)

Doesn't matter what type of adapter because both types have the same locking mechanism.
Both have the rubber covers and the springs.
The only difference is in how the band attaches.

Yep, true. Edit: I really shouldn't post before I've had at least one cup of coffee. :)

Oh, back to your "Made for Apple Watch Certification" question - ClockworkSynergy is waiting for Apple to provide the information on how to have their adapters/bands certified. They've produced their adapters to Apple's spec. The ball is in Apple's court to get back to them.

I love being able to get the right adapter with the band I want. ClockworkSynergy has some gorgeous stuff. I ordered over the weekend when they had their sale and will get my band/adapter when I return from holiday.

Just like every other manufacturer in China.
;)
Sorry I don't mean to bash but it's just so obvious that they're using one of the same machine shops out of China that other sellers are using. If they weren't then they'd be promoting that fact all over the place.
They have a website, they have a special news section on their website, and they have their own blog.

There can't be only one machine shop producing crap and one producing good adapters.
That's the whole point of this thread. To identify which are good and which aren't.
If the ones from ClockworkSynergy are good then that's fantastic but that doesn't mean that all of the ones not from them are inferior.
Plus the fact that they don't sell only the adapters means that they really shouldn't be discussed in this thread.

YES!

I polish stainless steel stuff often. With a dremel and polishing wheel and compound it's quite easy.

I got some adapters from freedomoclock/Utica guy and polished them up a little. I didn't polish the whole thing because I didn't want to risk harming the locking mechanism, I just did the parts that show. I'm thinking about rounding the corners a little with sandpaper then polishing some more. I get impatient and bored and quit too early frequently.

So the aluminum black adapters from vovotrade are pretty good. They are black mind you - so would show up a little dark on the space grey watch.

They are available in both colours and only cost $10.51US with free international shipping. (take forever and a day to ship though - pretty much a month bang on).

Link to the adapters:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/351392349550

What they look like on my space black as well as adapter by itself:
IMG_0641.JPG IMG_0645.JPG

It is a matte finish though, but blends in well.

No gaps and slid in very well. The only wiggle is in the arms for looping the band, not the adapter itself - it's snug.

I'll be dabbing some blue loctite on the screws when I secure it to a band.

Oh, but I'm sure you do. Rest assured your abrasive nature is greatly appreciated.

Actually, if you look what the OP said originally, he doesn't want a lot of band talk. That is posts like "now here's this adapter, but look at these 12 full sized pics of how it looks with this nasty designer band!", which make it painful to find the info that you want. Topics relevant to whether people should be buying adapters separately or with quality bands should be encouraged as it's relevant.

...and I never said Clockworksynergy's were better than everyone else's. I said they were an example of how it's being done well. If people want to continue to buy off of e-bay from sellers shipping from hong kong, that's their prerogative. Me, I'd rather deal with a company that has customer service and a reputation to uphold. (btw - they may also start selling the adapters separately).

And per the "they have a website and a blog" comment, did you see this on their first page?

I sure did. And you've proved my point.
This is a company that knows how to advertise. They know how to promote themselves.
If they were truly having their own adapters made, like you said, then there'd be some mention of it.

"Well" based on what?
Simple question.
Lots of companies are selling bands pre-mounted on adapters.
If their adapters aren't better then why buy from them?
Could you at least share some pics so we can see how good they are?

Any chance you have a Space Gray sport and can you post some photos?
I'm deciding on their Navy PVD Nato (Zulu)

Those are the ones I bought. Very nice quality indeed.
Took 3-4 weeks to get them.
My arms have no wiggle but I still used purple loctite just to be sure.
