Apple Watch Edition GPS + Cellular, 45mm Space Black Titanium Case with Space Black Link Bracelet
ETA November 2 to 9

This will be my fourth Apple Watch, stainless steel (first generation), ceramic case (Series 3), and stainless steel Hermès (Series 5).

Here is a conversation I had with an Apple rep today regarding trade-ins.

I can certainly get this order for an Apple Watch cancelled, may I ask why we are cancelling today?

Forgot to add trade in

I completely understand where you are coming from! Let me get this cancelled!

I do see this order is for in store pick up, you w may have the option to do a trade in in store and have the credit applied to this order. Would something like that work for you?

I heard about that but also heard the stores won’t accept trade ins at time of pickup

May I ask where you heard that information?

There’s a huge tread on macrumers.com

I see. So the resources I have access to have been approved by Apple themselves. With that said, it's awesome how you're able to find and use what resources you have access to. When it comes to trading in a device it is always better to be thorough, for sure! However, it's very easy to publish information on the internet so the best way to get the answer you're looking for we should rely on what's been released from Apple directly.

According to my resources you have 14 days after purchasing your device to bring your trade-in device (ready for trade-in) with your recently purchased device and it's receipt with the serial number as well as the credit or debit card that was used to complete the purchase of the new device.

You could also just take the trade-in device in alone and the way the trade-in would be processed is you would receive an Apple Gift Card code to your email that could be loaded to your Apple ID!

Ok, good information.

Thank you! I keep the order then!
Some stores accept walk-in trade-ins and others want you to make an appointment. It would have been quicker for you to call your local store to get current store policy, instead of calling a rep who may not give the exact information needed.

So much sexiness going on with this combo. 🤦‍♂️😳 that price tag though. 😂

If the Apple Watch appreciated over time like a Rolex and other investment type watches, I could see paying the high price tag. As is, I wouldn't pay that kind of money, especially when it will be all but worthless in 4 - 5 years.

It is progressing!

I don’t understand Apple’s inventory strategy. A green Series 7 watch with a green strap is still available for 10/15 delivery, and the nearest ten stores all have stock for 10/15 pickup. Change to a blue band and delivery is 11/24.

Why wouldn’t Apple just keep an inventory of all band choices so that you can mix and match whatever you want? The shortage is on the watch itself. I can’t imagine why there would be a shortage of blue bands.
I don’t see that in my area though. I’d love to pick one of those on launch day

My first apple watch, ordered it yesterday. I have to wait but it should be worth it. :)

Very nice. When you get your watch, be very, very careful when putting it on and taking it off, as that band can scratch the sides and front of the watch. Many here over the years have experienced such.

On the US website that Watch is priced at 1,359 for the 41mm and 1,409 for the 45mm so people in Aus/NZ are getting slightly hosed.

The U.S. price doesn't include the tax. In some areas that could be as much as another $140, which gets closer to the southern hemisphere price.

ETA November 2 to 9

This will be my fourth Apple Watch, stainless steel (first generation), ceramic case (Series 3), and stainless steel Hermès (Series 5).

The Titanium has been "Nov 2 to Nov 9" or similar from within two minutes of launch to 24 hours now. Everyone seems to get that now, no matter how late they buy. I wonder how accurate that is.

I get the feeling. The S6 blue is nice but it’s very limited with straps that actually goes together. I am a fan of the starlight but I’ve also had aluminium for every watch I’ve had and I’ve managed to find a silver SS for store pickup. Never owned one so I just went and ahead and ordered. I’m not sure which I’m gonna keep but I’ll see Friday. I’m just not sure if I can justify the extra £300.
The stainless is nice and worth the extra money IMO. My first  watch was a Space Grey aluminum model.

I wanted the Space Black SS, but at the time it only came with the SB Link band and cost like $1100 total. I dealt with only having the SGAl and enjoyed it until I scratched it like a month or so into ownership. Around June/July 2015 or something like that, Apple finally started selling the SBSS with a sports band for like $600 or so. I sold my SGAl on Craigslist and picked up the SBSS.

Immediately fell in love with the weight of the watch and how premium the deep glossy finish looked. I loved that it matched the vast majority of the bands available and always looked great. The durability took awhile to realize, as I was super careful with it after scratching my first  watch. Eventually I hit the SBSS on something and expected the worst and it was fine. Realized this watch could truly take a beating and stopped worrying about it as much.

Fast forward to the Series 4 launch and my OG watch had a faded OLED screen, but the watch crystal and body were still flawless after 3+ years. Made the decision to order another SS watch that much easier to do despite the price of a 42mm SS watch rising to $750.

This time I thought I’d convinced myself that I was going to order a Blue Al watch and keep my SBSS Series 4 to wear bands that wouldn’t match the Blue or when I needed to dress up the watch a little bit. About a day before preorders went live, I started to think about how I scratched my first  watch a month into ownership and how poorly my wife’s Al Series 4 has aged even in comparison to her OG Series 0 Al watch and told myself to just order a Graphite SS and trade in my SBSS S4 to lessen the blow.

Then about 12 hours before preorder time, I realize I’ve essentially worn the same watch for 6 years and decided to order the SBTi. 😩

Hopefully the Ti is low maintenance as my SBSS watches have been.

Sorry for the long post y’all…

For some reason stainless steel was heavy. I didn't like it one bit. Also, it was prone to scratches :( That's the only reason I did not order the Hermes' watch :(
I've had a Series 2 and Series 5 stainless steel watch- both black. Both used in a pool a lot and often banged into the pool wall, etc... never a scratch on either. But yes, it is heavier than the aluminum model- noticeably so. But after almost six years of wearing one, I don't notice it.

A bunch of this stainless steel configuration just popped up for in store pickup on Friday. If you are in the USA, check your local apple store to see if they updated their stock.. I dont care about the band, I will be using my graphite Milanese from the 6.

Spent the last couple of days thinking about upgrading from my S4. I’ve had the S4 since S4 launch, and have really enjoyed it. I like the S7 redesign as well as the new colors for aluminum. The green, in particular, calls my name lol. It looks great in the pictures. It also looks subtle enough to work with a lot of options. I’ve owned both SS and aluminum Apple Watches, and I like both finishes. I haven’t had any issues with either. So, that made choosing a little easier, too.

After trying several band options and seeing delivery dates in December, I realized after reading here on this thread that I might get one sooner if I go with the “default” band that’s being supplied to the stores with the watches. So, I plugged in an order for the 45mm green with the clover band. Sure enough, I can pick it up on 10/15. I own several bands already, so wasn’t all that picky about the band. The clover is fine with me to add to the collection. I can always pick up more bands if I want other options.

Im trading in my S4. The Apple app gave me the option to trade in at the store, so that’s what I’m going to do. Now that I’ve made the decision, I’m pretty excited for Friday!

I 100% agree, it’s way past time they did this. The only two somewhat logical reasons I can figure out for this are 1. Apple wants their watches to be as similar to “traditional” watches in craftsmanship, quality, design, experience, etc. and most if not all “traditional” watches come with a band often designed specifically for that model. 2. They don’t want someone buying a watch and complaining because they can’t wear it because it didn’t come with a band even though this could easily be avoided. I think they should sell the Watch by itself only on their website (and you have to acknowledge that you understand you’re only getting the Watch and no band) unless there’s huge demand through other retailers. It would definitely help their environmental goals as well.
What ever happened to “Think Different” Apple? I too was captivated by the idea of a digital watch emulating the traditional watch ethos. But, as I ordered the 7 I came to the realization that Apple should not be constrained By traditional watch design. That said, and contrary to what I just said, how about an Apple pocket watch? :p
