Can you all help me decide? I like that the ocean band would probably be easier to clean (despite all of the tubes), but I prefer the off-white color and metal connector (to the case) of the alpine. Thanks in advance :D

Most important question is whether you intend to actually scuba dive with watch? The Ocean band has a second buckle that goes through the tube to lock it onto your wrist, and the material compresses along with your wetsuit so it stays tight as you go deeper.
The Alpine loop would probably work for shallow dives if it’s directly on your skin. But I hesitate at the idea of having a titanium hook snag some fishing line underwater, putting me in a situation where I have to consider cutting the watch strap to get free THEN figure out how to not lose the watch that’s also my dive computer.
I’m sure knock-off versions of both will be available on AliExpress by Christmas in a bunch of non-Apple colors at 1/5th the price. Great for fashion but I wouldn’t trust the non-Apple ones in conditions where you consider your watch to be safety gear.

I keep reading posts that indicate a 23rd of Sept delivery date. I hate to burst happy bubbles but isn't the 23rd the shipping date which would mean delivery would be a few days later?
i have never heard apple communicate a ship date to any of their products. only delivery date since they usually coincide with instore pickup/sell dates as well.

Looks like MagSafe Duo wont work well w the watch Ultra That sucks. Hoping its incorrect, but i guess il give it a shot when the watch arrives anyway!
How do you know that. I have the Duo. What I have done though is order a watch stand from Amazon that claims to be Ultra compatible.

Apple posted a support article on it. It will still work you just need to angle it a bit.
Yeah, hoping this is the fix. I have the sport loop so hard to lye it flat on the table. Fingers crossed it still works with minor adjusting.

I had ZERO intention of buying anything Apple this year. Not for any other reason than I just didn’t want or need anything. Then I saw the Ultra, and the price point was lower than I think nearly everyone was guessing.

I thought it over for 48 hours (I try to avoid impulse buys), and decided to order through my carrier. I was surprised, myself!

About a day after I ordered, I realized that it doesn’t ship for two weeks! I went from not intending to buy anything, to now being a bit impatient that I need to wait until the 23rd! I’m so weak. 🤣😂😂😂

Anyone else feel like the 23rd is so far away?

For everyone’s information, “replacement” bands are available on eBay that look exactly like the Apple ones. Can’t vouch for quality but they look the same and the prices are a little more friendly on the pocket book. My Apple order was for the white ocean band. I just ordered a black alpine loop and a blue trail loop. Coming from China so it will be a few weeks until they are here. Will post back once they arrive.

I like the midnight ocean band, it’s the one I ordered…
I wish I had ordered that one. I likely won’t be using my Alpine loop because I don’t like the mechanism as much. I just thought it looked the best.

However, the ocean band provides the only truly new use case. My understanding is that it is designed for water and can clasp ultra securely. If I’m not gonna use the band much, I would have preferred to get a band with a new use case such as the ocean band that I could have had for those cases I’m on water or swimming. But oh well.

Also, it’s the only new band without the lugs which seem to at least visually make the watch larger.

Nice Choice!

Which one looks better? The alpine loop. However, as I said in another post, i personally think the alpine loop and trail loop make the watch even larger (at least visually) due to the titanium lugs. Therefore I would prefer the ocean band.

I won’t be using the alpine loop I purchased much if at all. I wish I had ordered the ocean band because it is the only band with a new use case - more secure and specifically for water. I don’t swim much but I occasionally travel and snorkel etc. I would appreciate the extra security in those cases.

If you will wear this band as a primary band, buy the alpine loop. Looks awesome. If you are adding to a set of bands you already own, I would get the ocean band.

Thank you for your feedback. I've gotten a lot of great answers and help with my question, but I ultimately decided to go with Ocean band in white. For me, it came down to how much easier the silicone(-like) material is to clean. Despite liking the color of the alpine band more, I'm afraid it will stain, and I haven't had good luck cleaning the cloth/stretchy sport bands in the past. I also like how the Ocean band is just so aesthetically unique.

I would say unless one really thought they were going to do a LOT of diving and snorkeling (and not just swimming) I’d avoid the ocean band. It looks quite large and somewhat cumbersome for any daily wearing and having on a desk or other. We’ll have to wait and see once they come out (and are in stores) but from the one day of reviews at the Apple Event, even on MALE forearms it Looked very large indeed. I can totally understand the need and want for this, mostly to wear OVER a shorty or dry wet suit sleeve, but still I’d hate for this to be a primary and will probably look to a third party band to replicate it just for that limited use case for my usage.

I ordered the Ultra with the midnight ocean band and got an estimated delivery window of 9/30 ~ 10/7. Has anyone's estimated delivery window been bumped up? I was hoping to get it on launch day.

I doubt it as those of us that are getting our watches on the 23rd haven’t got ours yet. I think you’ll see some movement late next week

I ordered day one early and got a 9/23 date for the Ultra and Orange Band, but it quickly moved to 9/29

my question... it seems the trail and alpine loop use lugs, it makes me wonder if the band is WIDER than those on the 45mm. you could in theory make the lug the same as the 45mm (so they are interchangeable) and then put a wider fabric band in the lug, something that might make the watch more proportional since it is 49mm in case size. I wonder if when we put the regular 45mm bands in the ultra, while they will fit, will they look strange and thin for how wide the case now is?

I have been wondering this also! I suspect they’ll be very slightly wider.
