That's true for Samsung phones with their Lagwiz UI, it's a FACT that over time, 4 to 6 months down the road, those phones will start showing signs of hiccups and micro stutters. I have owned tons of Galaxy devices over the years, EVERY ONE OF THEM LAGS, even the S8+.

Get the Google stock Android phone, the Pixel XL or the upcoming Pixel 2 XL, those are completely different than a Samsung or LG phone, the Pixel phones remain smooth months after they're new.
At the rate the note 8 is going. I doubt this will be true for it. Over a month with mine and it's still smooth.

I have the S8+ for 6 months now and it is the same as when it came out from the box. And this is the FACT.

Ok, everyone saying their 2017 Samsung is smooth still, I think it might be because of;

- Exynos version seems to be more lag free and smooth than the Snapdragon phone in the States
- Note 8 with it's brute force hardware, is finally powerful enough to make Touxchwiz actually be smooth, it just takes the super smartphone hardware with 6GB RAM, and the latest Exynos to accomplish this .
- People saying their Note 8 is still smooth and lag free a month later. Yes that has always been the case with all my Samsung Galaxy phones too, the first 2 or 3 months the phone performs wonderfully and super smooth, but the lag doesn't start to creep in until six months in or so, then it becomes like a old Windows 95 PC. But maybe the hardware in the Note 8 will prevent this from happening

I still highly recommend the Pixel 2 XL over the Galaxy S8+ or Note 8, especially if you keep your phone for more than one year.

As much as I like Android System , I'm finally giving up on it:
1) Forget about fast interface scrolling on android and Smooth Application scrolling and smooth Web rendering in applocation versions of websites.
2) The main issue that Android has is a horrible Web rendering issue when using any browser , which has nothing to do with any phone brand, typing lag within many websites, and system starting acting up after few months of use.
Use Google Chrome on iPhone IOS system and every website scrolls super smooth. Use the same Google Chrome on Android and 30% (if not 50%) of all websites have very annoying, strong stutter while scrolling. And this is no matter whether you use Nexus, Samsung or Huawei phone!
3) This is not all. After 2-3 months of using any android phone, phones become very slow at times in opening Apps or Google Chrome Browser ( not all the time but on some days nothing but acting up )
4) Key stroke issues in many Web pages still present !!!! (Never ever there is delay in typing on IOS) .
IOS smooth scrolling, lack of slowing down after 3 months of use and lack of typing issues, have nothing to do with any magic tricks by apple. It simply has to do with having the right programming of operating system.
WHEN WE PAY $600 TO $900 FOR A FLAGSHIP phone , we cannot have the issues listed above! Google: Get your act together and do whatever it takes to create a normal smooth operating system (even if you need to rewrite or recode God damn everything!).

I have all of those issues on my iPhone 8. It was fast for 3 days now it’s awfully slow on iOS 11 and 7+ on 10.1.1

The Pixel 2 XL isn't even out. How can you recommend that over phones that are actually proven? I don't even know if it has the same screen issues as the V30. You stock android fans are a trip.

God forbid one of the possibilities is that Samsung optimized their skin to work beautifully with the hardware.

But no. It's because 6 GB of RAM is forcing the phone to be smooth. That's all it takes.

My S7 Edge still runs perfectly smooth, my Note 4 also runs very well although due to all the abuse it has endured having being past around 3-4 different people that I borrowed it to, its memory is about 95% full and still going well. Then again, I don't use Chrome, I use Samsung Internet.

Well, that's your decision. I was giving him a suggestion because all his complaints seem to be in regards to Chrome. You can use Firefox if you want. Your world homie.
You gave him the perfect alternative.

Samsung Internet is leagues ahead of Chrome on Android.

Samsung Internet is incredibly efficient and memory management is rock solid on it, unlike Chrome that will just gobble up everything available.

1st app I disabled on my Note8 was Chrome, same with my S7 Edge last year. I simply do not deal with Chrome on Mobile.

Samsung phones used to lag fresh out of the box, I know because I’ve had many starting the galaxy s3.

I don’t understand the attitude people have in that they’re almost willing phones to fail. I assume everybody on this site is a fan of tech, Samsung should be applauded for the progress they’ve made over the years to what they have produced in their latest flagships.

It’s like to some that Samsung is the root of all evil in the tech world and they take pleasure in seeing what you’ve worked hard to buy fail so they can say they told you so!

It’s not a nice attribute at all

It's called the safe bet..

Pixel was and still is awesome Pixel II will be awesome. I acknowledge that stock Android isn't for everyone but let's please not go down the touchwiz v stock debate we all have camps and it makes threads tense.

I’ve had every iPhone since 3GS alongside several Htc and many Samsung phones. New tech and what it brings is what I enjoy

I couldnt care less if I tried on who’s manufactured it!

Fake news. Goto the iOS 11 section of the forums. That is where the real information is. Laggy, glitchy mess of an OS.

Ditto with the S7 edge...
And I'm using my old Note 5 while my Note 8 is in the shop, it's not as fast but it doesn't lag either.

All are exynos.

Hated samsung using the s2 s3 and s4. Stutter and lag everywhere. Changed to htc one m7 and after that m8 and was smooth and lag free.

Sold my iPhone 6s 64gb and had to downgrade to samsung s6 but surprisingly it was Smoot and almost no lag.

Got the S7 last year and used it 1 year and had never lag or stutter.

Using the s8 now since 5 months and im in love with it. Will see what samsung brings with the s9. If I don't like it I'll go for the iPhone x(if the reviews are good).

Only time I see lag on Android is when a misbehaving app has a memory leak that eventually consumes all system memory. In contrast, iOS devices usually are equipped with minimal memory out of the box so they tend to lag more frequently under normal use but the issue is accelerated and exacerbated with a memory leaky app.

The problem is to me with my S8 (updated and then reinstalled without backup) is that apps lag. Just for example:

- Google Play Music: Yep, I cannot use Samsung Music because I cannot see the music by VA - artists / compilations and other programs I don't like the interface
- OneNote: Opening the keyboard
- ToDo: Animations
- WhatsApp: Opening the keyboard
- Messenger: Transition between apps
- Google Chrome: Animations
- rarely the system (I tried TouchWiz and Nova)

Then the apps crash sometime (Messenger, Facebook) oder doesn't work well (CrossDJ that I just NEED for my work - the sound is buzzed)

I have problems with the music playlists which I cannot just made with iTunes - again I need this for my work, so I cannot see the BPM for the playlist.

Again, these are just examples; there are other general things which I don't like (ecosystem, pass sync over the systems, iMessage...).

Unfortunately, I must admit to myself that iOS works just better for my stuff. I hope, I can return the S8 back and buy the iPhone 8. Don't know... I'm torn :S
