Just two weeks for the announcement. Are you excited for this years iPhone?

I gotta say I’m more excited for this year than last year, although still not much. I mean, what really spikes my interest is the new 14 Max model for improved battery life for under 1000€ I hope, the new design (just to see some visual changes) and maybe AOD (but this feature I wouldn’t even use).

Not much else, I’d say. Would be cool to see a big camera upgrade, but we don’t see that from year to year. I have an iPhone 12 and don’t see much reason to upgrade. 120Hz is cool but on an iPad; not as much on a phone, where iPhone is already SUPER smooth.
No. I just upgraded to the 13 and won’t upgrade again for a long long time.

I’ll let you know next week. 😉

I had no plans to upgrade my 11 Pro. It’s the perfect size, lightweight, and takes really good pictures. And I hate having to setup a new phone for work (Authenticator, Imprivata, Outlook, Sharepoint, Teams, etc.). It’s just a lot of hassle that I don’t look forward to. I recently bought a 13 for my daughter, it’s nice but larger and heavier than I would like.

But with that said, my 11 Pro is starting to show its age. There’s now a lag when I play MR videos or when I flip video orientation from portrait to landscape and back. It never used to do that before. And the battery doesn’t hold a charge like it used to. IF the rumors are realized, I just might bite the bullet.

I have not been excited for an iPhone in quite some time now. Its a mature market, not much to get excited about in my opinion.

Yes — this is (for some reason) one of those years when I'm excited about getting a new iPhone.

The last iPhone that I really loved was the XR (in yellow!), which I carried around without a case because it just felt nice and the color cheered me up.

Since then I've had two Pro Maxes, the 11 and 12. Excellent products — and the extra-large screens have been nice for my clumsy fingers and aging eyes — but I just have never felt warmly toward them. I've found them quite heavy and awkward to slip in and out of pockets, with or without a case. Partly as a result, I think, I've failed to take advantage of the superior cameras because it's kind of a chore to drag the phone out and snap a picture.

So this year I'm going to get the iPhone that seems like it will be the most fun: either a non-pro 14 or 14 Max in whichever color feels most enlivening in the wee hours when I'm punching my order in. And meanwhile I'm psyched for Sept 7 to get a better look at the choices.

I think it’s my own fault for buying the pro and expecting more from it. For $1400 it just underwhelmed me. I want to trade it in as the value diminishes after two years so that debate is out there. Like a car do I drive it around for another year and get some more use out of it dealing with a laggy interface or do I trade it in?

Not really. I’m excited for the iterative updates it’ll create for me in years to come, but I was most excited for my 13 Pro I got last year. It had a lot of the quality of life improvements I wanted, and I’m still very satisfied. The 14 series doesn’t seem like it’ll offer me much more that will make any upgrading worth it. Frankly, I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I got the 13 Pro. It feels like it was yesterday.

yes, but only because i just upgrade every year, and want to see the "updates" in action. So far the 13 Pro has impressed me with it's battery life, if the 14 is just a bit better, then no complaints.

I'm also exited I love tech and progression. Posting this from a new MacBook Air M2 and it is incredible as a light but also productive machine!
To be honest the previous MBA was exactly the same minus the design and a little bit more screen. The new MBA isn’t a game changer.

Sure if it (the Pro models) has 8k recording if it indeed delivers 8k with no major problems, that is, it'll indeed make use of the increased resolution and doesn't get substantially more noisy / smeared / oversharpened / less responsive compared to 4k. I really hope Apple releases something without the problems (autofocus, not-really-high real resolution) plaguing the current 8k-capable Samsung phones.

Same stands for 48 Mpixels stills under ideal circumstances.

The amount of folks that use or have the capability to even view 8K is so tiny there’s no point.

I usually upgrade my iPhone on a 3-year cycle, and I am at least two years away from my next phone, anyway. However, when I look at this upgrade, I am the least interested in learning about the 14's since the iPhone 7 was released. I see the regular 14's as almost the same as the 13, with only minimal changes except for the new larger size (which does nothing for me since I like small phones anyway). And the 14 Pro's are just getting heavier and more expensive, for the sake of mainly better cameras. The camera is already so good that I don't see the point to upgrade for the sake of upgrading. And for me, it is not worth several hundred additional dollars and additional weight to add a telephoto lens compared to the standard phone. This may be an exciting upgrade for many people, but it is not one for me.

I am, but for a new form factor - going from 12 Pro to 14 Pro Max, with ATT subsidy only real out of pocket is the activation fee. That being said camera upgrades are nothing I would ever use or notice, same for suggested satellite connectivity. If in fact this is whats being hinted in the Far Out "space" branding - this is a feature that I'm sure would only ever be used by a fraction of a percent of all iPhone owners in their lifetime. We'll see.
