My friends recently gifted me a refurbished 12.9 M1 iPad Pro & a second gen Apple Pencil. Still getting to know this amazing device, the screen is stunning, I am enjoying learning Procreate. If anything I will be waiting to see if accessories like the keyboard get lower in price. No upgrade for me, the M1 has more power than I really need.

I most likely will, but I'm also keeping my 2018 11" Pro for travel. I miss having a 12.9" size for drawing and reading textbooks. I *really* wanted to upgrade when the M1's came out but figured I'd wait, so an M2 will be a nice step up from my A12X and the screen real estate will be great for drawing/painting and reading at home.

I’ll probably upgrade my current 2020 iPad Pro as I feel its battery is no longer in its prime days. But I was hoping Apple would release a 14 inch iPad Pro. The 12.9 starts to feel a bit small

I think the rumors were saying there could be a 14 inch in the spring, unless I'm misremembering. Though, I don't know what a 14 inch could bring to the table besides the additional screen real estate.

Last minute predictions: MagSafe has been delayed to a future model (I’m saying that because the MagSafe rumours have gone quiet and Mark Gurman didn’t mention them in his latest Power On newsletter about the iPad Pro), it’ll look exactly the same as the M1, maybe a few minor cosmetic differences but will be a reskinned M1 iPad Pro with the M2 chip, price in Canada for the 2TB cellular 12.9” model with the Apple Pencil, Magic Keyboard, AppleCare and taxes could be almost $4500; still only two colour options (space grey and silver), and Apple will raise the price of the 2TB model by another $250 to account for 24GB of RAM

I was hoping that the line would get a RAM bump - and that the 128-512 models will come with 12GB of RAM instead of 8.

I had planned on upgrading from my 2020 12.9 but depending on how significant the upgrade from M1 to M2 is and what the specs are of the lower end 12.9's, I might be better off catching a sale on the 1TB M1 model. Also looking to see if they've been able to cut down on the blooming compared t the current 12.9.

I'm assuming you're in Canada as well. My guess is a price bump across the board due to the currency conversion. Right now in Canada a base 11 Pro is almost 10% cheaper than buying in the US. If the price stays at $799 USD, I would expect the CDN price to now be $1099.

Yes. I really hope you’re wrong about a price bump here. The iPad Pros are already expensive enough to make you want to throw up

Just checked the latest rate. $799 USD = $1099 CDN. They might actually raise it higher than $1099. Usually the Canadian prices are higher when converted.

Nope, I upgraded to an M1 11” Pro last year and this upgrade pretty much make it look like the iPhone 14, but even more minor. It’s basically the same iPad as the M1 Pro iPads from 2021. The M1 11” Pro is still overpowered for what it is, although my 2018 11” Pro, which I still use is starting to show it’s age.

Not going to lie, this seems more like a model for anyone who had not jumped on M chip bandwagon yet. Not for anyone who already has an M1 iPP. It feels like the old S versions ( in between design changes ) of iPhone models has come to the iPP. So you can feel more comfortable about holding on to your current iPads longer now.

I also think it does hurt there isn't some kind of presentation to hype up these in between models. It's like it falls more on Apple's chosen influencers to spew out why someone should upgrade from the current models.

This Pro is clearly made for people who do not own an M-series iPad already. iPadOS can't even fully utilize the M1, so this is a big waste honestly. They could have AT LEAST upgraded the screen on the 11"...

Yes. Probably. But only because I’m still rocking a first gen 9.7 iPad Pro! 😂

So I am looking to upgrade soon. I’m going to wait for the new models, but not against snapping up an M1 on sale if the price is right/the new models are barely different. I’m undecided on the 11” or 12.9” though.
I went from that same 9.7 Pro to the new iPad Air, for sure worth it, not sure I needed a Pro model now.

Absolutely no reason to update a M1 IPad. And if you held on to the 2018 iPad, no reason to upgrade to this one either unless it needs replacing
