One other thing to mention is that corporate discounts apply to AT&T but not Verizon when it comes to these plans.
Was this mentioned on their media release? They've left out too much details IMHO.

Edit: They mentioned business customers, not the regular consumers. Does that account for all FAN holders?

I'm willing to lose my 15% discount with att because it's still cheaper with Verizon. I won't get 15% back either since it was with my last job and my current is only 8%.

So I spent 55 minutes on hold to talk to someone at Verizon about my lack of simultaneous voice and data support. Ended up having to reset network settings and they had to deactivate/reactivate the feature in their end to get it working.

After that they waived the $90 in activation fees (yeah there was multiple due to me having to jump back and forth because of my locked unlocked device).

So for me, Verizon is 0/2 so far on days. 12 to go!

They just don't get it.
You either compete or get left behind.
Looks like they chose not to and will continue to lose subscribers...
The only reason they won't lose me yet is that I still have a dirt-cheap grandfathered UDP and don't need tethering.

After the two price hikes over these past couple of months, AT&T is no longer cheaper than Verizon.

There fact that I was told it was waived yesterday to find that there were three on my bill today is definitely something. I'm gonna say that's leaning toward something negative, though.

A big problem that makes switching from AT&T to Verison is that most AT&T phones have intel LTE radios you need Qualcomm for Verizon. So to switch means buying a new phone

Go BB or Costco , they have great deals, check on Reddit Verizon. Sell Intel phones on Swappa. Get profit :). The only disadvantage it is 2-year financial agreement.
[doublepost=1487337232][/doublepost]10 pages on forum and every second post " I go with VZ" , I opened VZ to switch from T-mobile. I tested it yesterday and the network is in pre-congested stage in my area. I canceled the order. VZW is not ready for all of the people switch there. VZW management decided to over-sell they network like John Legere did November 2015.

At&t network is pretty stable, they have 20x10 ore spectrum on my market and to loose more customers is a suicide for the company.

I can predict with very high probability that in couple months we will see here At&t financial losses and complaints about VZW over-congested slow network.

IMO both companies operated by no professionals. They get great salaries and don't care about future at all. Why bother we are too big to fell and we have gold parachutes ready to use. I don't like John Legere at all, but he is the only CEO who gets his money and really work for shareholders including me.

I agree.
Verizon for many years was always slightly more expensive than AT&T because they touted that their network is better.
Now AT&T is more expensive than everyone.
And why does it take AT&T 2 months (billing cycles) to get the deal on the 4 line family plan?
Why do I have to pay you an extra $40 each month for 2 months while all other networks let me change plans right away and take advantage of their special?
And no personal hotspot at all.
Terrible deal compared to other carriers as usual from AT&T. Im not surprised.

Question about Verizon. What is a line access fee? I was looking at their deal and it was $20 I think per phone. And how bad is their congestion in general. Thanks

Anyone switching to Verizon asking them to waive the activation fees? If so what did they say? I'm going to go to a store Saturday and see about switching but I'm not paying $30 x 2 for what is a shameless money grab.

Access fee is $ 20 per line or $40 for lines still in a contract

I'm in California and I have been with Verizon 5 years after 16 years with Sprint. Either my service in my area is not heavily affected with new VZ customers or the towers are optimized in some way. Here is a Speedtest while Verizon had a 2 hour wait time Of their sales line. No precongestion here

Best to see how YOUR Area is affected - Notice the time

It's a fee you pay per line on your account in addition to paying for the plan.

As for congestion, seems like it's not really an issue. Certainly there might be some towers here and there that can get congested at times, but nothing that's all that widespread or different from other carriers as far as I've seen.

It's on top of the tiered data that you buy. Say you buy 12GB of data which costs $xx, then you pay $20 per line which gives you unlimited talk/text and access to that data.

I'd let them know that you dont want to pay any BS activation fees and in order for you to switch they'd have to waive them.
Dont do it after you ported and opened the account, if they want your business they'll make it happen.

For me (5 lines), AT&T would be about 10% more expensive than Verizon. Not thrilled about that, but I could live with it... if it had hotspot. I work in IT -- I don't use hotpot a lot, but when I need it, I need it.

The extra suck for me is that 2 of the 5 folks on my plan live in an area with a crappy Verizon signal, so switching to Verizon is also a no-go. Grrrr

I hear you.
I guess they felt that they dont have to compete with other carriers and stay with the worst plans, less options and higher prices.
We'll see how that plays out for for them.

I planned on bringing it up before anything is done. I'm on Cricket now which has been great but Verizon does have much faster speeds and the option to tether would also be nice for a little more per month. So if they decide they don't want around $150/month and just have to have that all important $60 I'll just stay where I am.

What about T-Mobile?

I'm moving my 4 lines from AT&T to VZ - got $30x4 waived.

Good to hear. I tried Verizon prepaid for a month and they have the $30 activation fee for that as well. They waived it before I asked so hopefully I can get them to waive it for a postpaid account.

I have a 10% FAN for the school I attend and it does work on the Unlimited plan, but only the $60 base part of the plan. The access charges are not discounted. Went from a $13.50 discount on my 30 GB plan to a $6.00 discount on unlimited. Funny thing is that my plan is $20 cheaper due to the Unlimited... even with the discount drop.

I still don't see how this is a good deal from Verizon with it being $45 plus taxes/fee and a $20 per line charge.

I ran the numbers and after I subtract my device payments, I am paying $31 dollars per line with T-mobile on one of their simple choice plans. I have 6GB with rollover, unlimited text and free international.

Its not a good deal for everyone ;)

It's less expensive than AT&T and that's who I had when this started so it's a good deal for me.
