No offense, but that does not look nice at all. To each his own, but this whole bending thing has been blown way out of proportion. I’m pretty sure it effects less than half a percent of anyone who’s bought the new iPad Pro.
[doublepost=1544499310][/doublepost]

What’s ridiculous is this whole bending thing. It has been blown way out of proportion and now people are doing this to their iPads? It’s kind of hilarious and laughable, honestly. Anything from the first iPad to the new iPad Pro is going to bed if force is applied to it. It’s that simple. If you take care of your stuff, and are congnizant of force not being applied then you will have no problems.
[doublepost=1544499570][/doublepost]

This issue isn’t the box. The issue is it obviously had force applied to it BEFORE it was placed in the box. It would be impossible for it to get bent in transport in the box. Impossible. Any force required to bend it through the box would destroy it not bend it.

With millions of products leaving the factor, there are bound to be issues here and there of damaged products making it through quality inspection and placed in the box for shipping. We’re humans. We all make mistakes.
[doublepost=1544499647][/doublepost]

This. People are making way way way way too much over this bending issue. It’s few and far between. Simple care will prevent it from bending. It’s that simple.
[doublepost=1544499940][/doublepost]

I don’t think Apple is mocking us. They are making design choices. The 3.5mm jack is a thing of the past. I casn’t Believe people are still going on about it. Wireless headphones are the future, corded headphones or not. They had to make that transition at some point and they decided to do it when they did it.

Personally, I think this whole thinness thing has gone to far, but that’s what the buying people of people shows Apple most people want. Thin and light. The thinner anything is it is less durable - anything. I wish it would be the thickness of the camera, a little heavier, and a litter sturdier, but it’s not like any of this was a surprise. I knew exactly what I was buying and it was my choice to make the purchase. If the product isn’t everything you want, then either don’t buy it or live with it. It’s that simple.

There are tablets with 3.5mm jacks, and thicker, and more durable. If that’s what one wants that’s what one should buy.

Thats pretty dismissive from a consumer point of view. I think Apple fans give way too much leeway towards Apple.

No one is bending my ipad, not the russian dude, not the jerry rigged dude. I had a 1.5mm stainless steel plate cut along with some machined aluminum braces. looks nice and industrial, adds some weight to the ipad but I have no fear of leaving it in a backpack.

Ugghh, Iron Man! My iPP is fine so far. People who are afraid to carry their iPad Pro in a bag or backpack should buy a lightweight 4mm aluminium Dibond iPad-sized plate (ca. 240g) or a stable carbon fiber composite plate for a few bucks and simply put it behind the iPad during the transport.

I'm sorry but I cannot get this out of my head. It's no insult to you, but this is just over the top! As a case it's cool I will admit, but the fact that it was created with the intention of preventing bending is what I can't get over.

Well this thread has definitely been interesting to me. All this time I was wondering who are the customers who are really pushing for thin devices, pushing manufacturers to disregard aspects like structural integrity, repairability, all in the hopes of presenting millimeter-thin devices to end-users hoping to impress them with the first impression. It turns out there are a lot of you guys out there, and I understand now why apple must do what it does to attract customers like you. Notice i'm not complaining, i'm actually very happy with my solution even if it looks ugly to you. I got the super fancy device, added my bulletproof enclosure and i'm exactly where I want to be.

I do not pushing for thin devices, but I find your solution personally still bad. Of course, everyone may do what he wants with his ipad as long as no one is hurt or discriminated.

And I think Apple is one of the best tech companies out there from a design, execution, functionality and customer service point.

It’s not dismissive at all to point out that this bending thing has been blown way out of porportion. Not at all. Of course, Apple isn’t perfect, but you know how thin this thing is. Anyone should know that if you apply force to ANYTHING that is thin, flat and light it’s going to bend. It doesn’t matter what it is.

I will buy the product I want and customize it to my liking. I don't understand why it's so upsetting to people in this forum.

I’m not upset. I just think what you did is ugly. That’s all. Really ugly.

Highly unnecessary, weird flex but okay.

Mine is bent, quite bad like warped.
It has not left my desk, ever. It has sat on a stand running duet as a second display. I have used Bluetooth keyboard whenever it was being used.

It has just warped all by itself.
My new MacBook Pro Vega is flickering when hdmi attached

I can’t get appointment for a week at apple.

I admit, I can appreciate your creativity and ingenuity to make something like this, but it’s seems _very_ extreme and unnecessary. I gather you’re more worried about the bending than anything, but I would be worried about that metal brace scratching the iPad aluminum, which seems kind of contradictory that you’re worried about bending versus scratching.

I honestly have not had this iPad out of the office, it sits on a stand running duet display. It gets very hot, not sure if this has anything to do with it. it has only bent at the top, where it wasn't supported by the stand. I don't go out of the house, I stay here and cull images. It has not moved.
I have AppleCare, they wanted me to pay to have it replaced, I said no. They wouldn't have a bar of this forum, or reports it is bending. They said they know that manufacture is not faulty and I pads do not bend. Said I could take it up with legal.

Felt great, fantastic experience.
They both had beards and were very sure of themselves, one manager even remarked he had a more expensive motorbike than me a Panigale, I asked why he chose such a brand to invest? was it the quality or brand reputation, support? - yeah that's why I bought the iPad ...

No, seriously nothing has happened.
I would own it, no problem happily pay if something had any chance of happening, but this just didn’t. I dont understand and it has left me feeling shiiit about it.

It really just was bent? Odd, it does get hot though. Always plugged in via usbc to MacBook Pro.

Not happy

They won’t replace it not a warranty problem Kntz

That is why this quality issue is so infuriating. Apple sells warped/bent iPads for more money than last year, then they will not own up to a problem they created in designing and manufacturing this product. It's astounding, and makes me hate this product and the company that produces it so hard.

Really feel the same way. I honestly loved this product, it cost a heap so I wanted to love it, and I was loving it, thought it was just a beautiful device.

Now it pains me to look at it, think of it. It’s not just the bend but the attitude shift of apple support, I only really bought heavily into Mac this year out of trust. They have always handled the back end professional and problem free, support has always been amazing. I am now seeing a shift, they don’t want to own their problems and have no empathy or care for real world customers.
Funny how a day changes things, I really just don’t want a thing to do with company right now.

Still feel bad about the whole day. It’s all gone to *****.

Aluminum becomes weak at 400 degrees F, so unless you can cook an egg on your iPad, I doubt it bent because it got too hot (I mean, if it was even 200 degrees, it would be too hot to touch!)

I've thrown my iPad in a my backpack, left it on the table, put pressure on it while drawing with it sitting on a pillow...I haven't had any bends. It takes a lot more than just normal use to break these things. If you put your iPad in an overstuffed backpack with a basketball, yeah, it'll probably bend. Common sense...

ANYWAY, I'm sure your iPad came out of the box like that. Which sucks, but with the amount of iPad's Apple manufactures, it's bound to happen, and you just drew the short straw this time.

If you're just using the iPad on a stand on your desk, can you even tell it has a bend? Does it affect your workflow, or impede you? Or is just annoying, and because you know it's there, you can't unsee it?

If you have Apple Care, just throw that thing on the ground, break it, and get a replacement model.

This really isn't a 'bending' issue - the problem is that the iPads are assembled and shipped with a slightly uneven frame at either the top and/or bottom, not that they are fragile and will bend in your bag or over time (unless you're as douchey YouTuber and deliberately bend it with unrealistic force do gain views).

It absolutely did not bend on its own. It either came that way, and you didn’t notice until now, someone else used your iPad and bent it, or you mistakenly did it. It is, from a physics standpoint, impossible that it would just bend on its own without force being applied. No way.

Absolutely something happened. Do you live alone? Either someone else bent it, it came that way, or you mistakenly did it. It is just not going to bend on its own.

You should take it to the Genius Bar. They may help you out if you’re really polite. Keep being polite if they say they are going to charge you. A couple years ago my MacBook screen cracked. I took it there. It was long out of warranty. They said they would have to charge me to replace. What could I do? I said I understand. He then left and came back out and said they were going to do it for free. I wasn’t so lucky a few months ago when it cracked again. Both times were my fault and all it took was the adapter to get closed between the glass and the keyboard.

It is just absolutely impossible that it bent on its own. I’m sorry it happened, but if you didn’t do it someone else did - either someone at the factory or someone who was in your house!

If it came out of the box that way, they would absolutely own up to it and replace it. If one opens it and it’s perfectly fine out of the box and gets bent why the hell should they replace it? It’s not their fault. They are in business to make money. Take care of your **** and it won’t break.

ABSOLUTELY the best post on MacRumors of ALL TIME!!!!!!!!........I cannot get over this!!!! And this is where a Apple fan should draw the line and just give up......come on. So many other gadgets out there that would never need this much extra fluff to keep the device intact, non-warped, and completely stable. :D:D:D Definitely will pass this around to Reddit users lol....

I agree, sometimes you just have to shake your head at some of the stuff you read.

It is exactly in the middle where the two holes are at the top, also exactly where the camera is also in the bezel, this is clearly a weak zone. Still hating this thing right now, Im sure i'll use it again at some point just a bad taste in my mouth.

It’s real, and ridiculous.

Quite. Even more ridiculous when you realize that these iPads aren't 'bending' with use, they're actually quite rigid. The problem is at the factory level, as they are being assembled with this crooked (or bent) frame (or perhaps it is a step within the assembly process that is causing this to happen).

Some 'bends' or crooked frames are more severe than others. People are receiving their iPads 'bent' but aren't noticing it right away, or they aren't noticing it at all. A few people posted pics of theirs saying 'mine is fine', when the pictures showed that they were indeed bent (or crooked) as well - but very slight. If they don't see it (or care about it), then good for them!
