As the Otterbox Defender has gotten such a bashing, I was planning on going for the the Pelican Voyager. However, after hearing about how difficult it is to get the cover off, and already knowing how fragile the iphone 6 is, I'm passing on the Pelican so as not to destroy my iphone when removing the cover. I've decided to hold onto the Otterbox defender until something better comes along. At least I know my phone is thoroughly protected and I'll have time enough to return it when something better comes along or if the otterbox gets updated.
I've taken the Voyager off my 6+ a couple of times without a problem. I used a quarter to pop it open then just pulled it open down the long side and it was a non-issue. I can't imagine it destroying the phone.

I just got the pelican protector case and I love it! Fits very snug on the plus and looks like it'll more than protect it when I drop it. Not bad for $40 and it looks pretty cool too! Att store has plenty to go around

Got the same and love it as well. Fits really well. Feel sturdy enough, doesn't add to much weight or bulk.
I gave up the apple leather case. Just felt too flimsy.

I returned the protector but am having a little returners remorse. I have the dual pro shine coming today and if I don't like it I am going to get the protector back.

My case fits great, volume buttons work well along with the power button.
I actually don't know about the insert you are talking about. Was it something they send you if your buttons aren't working well?

Yes. Early purchasers were receiving some kind of insert to fix a problem with the volume buttons not responding when depressed. I have been trying to follow the issue.

For those that have the Pelican Voyager.....do you feel it is as sturdy as the Otterbox? I'm concerned when wearing it in the holster it will hold up if I hit against something.

I normally go for slim case. But bendgate got me nervouse. I ordered a $10 Waxo case from Amazon. Fits very nicely. Slimmer than an otter box commuter, but plenty of protection it seems to me. Not quite a full rugged case. But enough and a carbon fiber back (though presumably fake at this price point). Plastic sides are a bit slippery though. Rubber corners have nice grip. I doubt this is my permanent solution, but it was very cheap and the fit is dead on.

I got the pelican case without the holster and the bottom port guards - which I thought were ugly.
Never owned an otter box so can't compare.

Just put in the incipio dual pro shine. Not bad, seems durable and adds a firmness to the 6 plus. I am going to use it until Otterbox fixes their issues and the new commuter comes out. Have 30 days to return this one.

Still can't figure out why so many companies make the camera opening so large. That is the one thing about the apple cases that I like.

I'm not familiar with the Pelican although I heard about it..Otterbox is really tough but they lose in aesthetic design

I usually have an Apple silicone or Spigen Neo Hybrid on my 6, but my 'extra protection' case is the Elago Duro, which I think looks fantastic. It's about the same bulk as an Otterbox Commuter, but looks fantastic. It also feels great in the hand.

Do you think the Voyager protects as well as the defender? Does it add much bulk to your 6 plus? I was using a tough armor on my 6 plus and it's not protective enough for me. I'm really not impressed with the new defender so I'm trying to decide what to order. Thanks!

Probably going to go back to ATT for the Protector. The dual pro shine is way too slippery.

Yes, the Incipio DualPro has a very nice soft touch feel, like a baby's bottom, which makes it harder to grip my iPhone 6+. It's a pain to return things back to Amazon, but for a $30 refund it might be worth my time and trouble,

It's beautiful and well made, slides into a pocket nicely, and looks like it will absorb a 4-5' fall easily, but I know I'm going to drop it and don't like to test their protection if I don't have to. The drop concern is also because it seems to make the phone heavier and more top heavy when I'm loosely cradling the phone in my open hand.

My SUPCASE "Unicorn Beetle" case for 6+ is easier to grip and hold onto, but the built-in screen protector has a little gap between the protector and phone, possibly due to the extra Zagg glass screen protector already on the phone.

So, I'm thinking about cutting off the screen protector to allow a better fit with with the Zagg, even though it works fine as is - I actually like the lack of an "oil slick" between the protector and phone, which my son's iPhone 6 does big time with his OtterBox.

The only concern here is the SUPCASE seems like it might be a little less rubbery and more plasticky than the Incipio, and possibly less protective in a 4-5' fall. So far this is an unfounded fear.

I still want something thinner on occasion, like my Tech21 case for my iPhone 6 that isn't available for 6+ yet, so I have an i-Blasson clear and a SUPCASE clear coming this week.

Two armor style cases that have caught my eye are the Lunatik Taktik Extreme and Bric Plus

They seem to be everything proof and there are some serious torture tests on youtube for the Lunatik Taktik Extreme. However neither are available yet for the 6/6+. I suggest everyone contact these companies urging them to make them.

I'm not convinced the Voyager is as protective as the Defender design for the iPhone 5. I'm waiting for the Defender for the 6+ to see.

If I were in charge of their advertising I wouldn't be so quick to call a product "flimsy" if I was trying to attract those who just spent big bucks buying it.

Thanks for that info! I like my Otterbox except for the fact that the Touch ID covering gets creases in it and there's a little bit of wiggle room between my phone and the case. I was holding out to get an Otterbox for my 6+ too but ended up returning it.

In my experience the case is not hard to take off at all. The key is to not insert the coin, or whatever you use, all the way as it can scratch the phone. Slip it in halfway & push down on the coin to pop the corner of the case up. Once you get the corner popped, the rest is easy. I find it easier & quicker to take off then the Defender.

The Voyager feels sturdier than the Otterbox in my opinion. The most solid, sturdy, case I have ever had. & it's probably half the bulk of the Otterbox. I've dropped my phone about 3 times, on tile from about 4 feet, and the case has done it's job. I highly recommend it to anybody.

I think the otterbox is still the best case after a screen modification. The buttons on mine have broken in considerably and I prefer the slimness, level of protection and hardnes of the rubber on the otterbox.

Slimness? Never thought I'd see that word mentioned with Otterbox. Do you have any pics?

Sure, I will get some up. I suppose slimness is a relative term. Slim in comparison to previous otterboxes and slim compared to the griffin survivor. The survivor is another case I like.

I have been using the Griffin Survivor All Terrain for a couple days now, great case, easy to get on and off for when I am not needing something so bulky and go back to the leather case. It has nice protection all around in terms of impacts, abrasions and dust. I need to rely on my phone as a tool so a case is mandatory in harsh environments.

So instead of a picture of the phone and the case I thought I would just show why I need one...:)
