Does it bother anyone else that with dark mode on the Safari Menu Bar is this light grey/blue shade rather than black/grey as it was in Catalina? Guessing there's no way I can change this...

Overall I'm enjoying the beta and find the OS to be mostly beautiful and smooth. A lot of my initial dislike really just came from that disgusting color splash art they default to with the background in all they marketing for Big Sur - it looks 100% better if you just pick the Big Sur wallpaper haha.
Isn’t the shade dependent on desktop background? I’ve found that some wallpapers make dark mode look blerrrrk

For me Catalina was stable, this is a beta so it’s never going to be perfect - so way more glitchy than 10.15.6. Lots of apps need updating, Little Snitch won’t work till it’s updated. Atom works for me, which is all I need at the mo.
On Catalina, Mail crashes randomly every hour or so (two different machines), eGPU behavior is annoying. It used to be hot swap, now it needs to close everything...that maybe an office update but still.

The OS Menu Bar yes since it's so transparent now, but as far as I know the Safari menu bar has nothing to do with your wallpaper.

Yes I am. Just got the brand new iMac27 3.3Ghz and enrolled in the beta program and it doesn't seem to find BigSur. So can't install it.

All 2020 iMac buyers are reporting the same thing, apple must be making the beta compatible with the new iMacs, shouldn’t be to much longer.

The visual changes (IOS look) are the most dramatic changes. So far, it's been stable and seems as others have mentioned, somewhat faster. Safari definitely gets a boost. The only issues so far have been tools. CCC is getting reworked to clone the system volume (Apple made some changes) and my old favorite MenuMeters (pref pane) wouldn't run. A little digging and I found that someone had finally converted it to an app(to get around security issues), that runs great!

yeah I like the visual changes and so far for my 2019 Mac Pro, it’s been rock solid surprisingly. I’m even using it as my daily!

Only thing that doesn’t work is google drive which I use because I have free unlimited storage for life, but I’m sure it’ll be fixed and I don’t depend on it dailt

SUrprisingly? For the past 7 years, the only Beta that wasn't rock solid was Catalina's. But it's also the only OS that has been relatively unreliable even after release.

you do realize that there are lots of different experiences happening with the betas, since the beta program began? there's no 'one size fits all', for any version of the OS. but thanks for sharing your experience...

I didn't mean to offend anyone, but MacOS betas used to be what other companies release as the final product. Up until Catalina... I really hope Big Sur will restore this tradition.

So far it has only crashed on me twice. Safari related.

The only other issue is with wifi. When I am on my home wifi it connects automatically. When I visit my mother's apartment, sometimes I have to reboot for it to connect to her wifi.

That's a weird issue.

Just like in movies:) I wonder where we would be without the disclaimers at the end of the credits.

is it that difficult to see the difference between a discussion on an internet forum and a movie you're watching on netflix? one has real people, the other has real people clearly pretending to be other people.

see the difference? :)

The analogy is as good as your intentions real to help:)

Can we please put an end to this and get back to topic? Thanks.
So as I explained above, I've generally had excellent experiences with MacOS Betas since I enrolled in the program around 2013. Up until Catalina, which continued to give me daily issues on multiple machines. I was curious about others' experiences and opinions how the new Beta is looking as this is the first year I've been holding off.

it's pretty good here, for a first public beta. a few weird things (for example, i can't 'see' the drafts folder in mail), and a little sluggish in places. but able to run all my apps, surf, message... function.
