One caveat to that, is the GM will be provided to developers first. If you update to the GM release candidate through the beta program, if the build number is the same as the public release, nothing will change.
My suggestion is; when they release a GM version, do as LFC202 suggests, and then wait a few days for the Public release.

And I'll seamlessly be able to move from the public beta to public releases no problem?

For instance, if I'm on "Public Beta 8" and that matches the GM, if I opt out of the beta program at that point will I be able to move to 11.0.1 without issue?

Why 2-3 hours? It’s usually 24 hours and sometimes even 48 hours.
I think it’s to make sure that there are no serious problems

Yup.

Dev Beta 6 out, public beta will probably follow 2-3 hours later.

MacOS is next day usually (especially when fortnightly releases are happening).

Sure, MacOS 11 PB has been next day, so far. But historically the MacOS / OSX PB 'usually' comes out 2-3 hours after the dev release.

I'm sure MacOS 11 is getting closer to a same day PB release, until it finally moves to a weekly release schedule for both parties, ahead of GM.

'Probably' doesn't mean 'definitely' 😉

Catalina was the next day, until they go weekly, and even then, that wasn't every year.

Approaching :30 after the hour with no PB in sight. Maybe tomorrow, though it'd be interesting to see them release a beta to the public on a Friday before a holiday weekend.

it’s happened before. On a Friday, that is. Not sure it was a bank holiday one. This week has been a weird one for Apple’s betas

Just the person I was quoting was confident that Apple were strictly on a 15 day release window for PB
Not sure if you meant me? I was not confident, but there is a pattern so far. Check it out on the wiki page on Big Sur, or the Mac Rumors news pages, and you’ll see the developer beta has come out every 15 days! Public the day after.
Obviously no guarantee, but companies tend to work to schedules.

Alright, just updated to Big Sur.

Should I run another Time Machine backup or should I leave the Catalina backup as is until the GM releases just in case I need to revert to it?

I left mine as is, but most of my storage is external anyways. I figured if the beta was seriously bad I could roll back but its pretty much become a daily driver. Im just playing it safe with my backup. Ill probably give the final release a few days before I start backing up again.

Has the sleep issue been resolved?
