Can someone that using iMac 27” late 2015 try to start in safe mode with PB 3 installed and see if you get any graphical issue like I do? See attached picture. This happens in PB 1.

So be aware SMB is broken in this build

Came here to ask that. I've been running the public beta of Big Sur since day one, and this is the first major issue I've had with it. Just updated to 20A5364e an hour ago and now my Server isn't showing up at all, even though I can reach it through SSH and even via screen sharing, but the disk via SMB won't mount at all and it just says it can't find it.

Mine crashed when updating to 20A5364e but it says that's the version I'm running. So... did I get the latest update?? May have to go back to Catalina.

Software update says I'm up-to-date.

Still having sleep issues latest public beta, MacBook Pro display will go to sleep after 2 minutes as soon as the update is installed, then it won't work after that, no issues sleeping when lid is closed, only happening when lid is open.

Big Sur broke my airpods pro connection. Stays connected for like 10 seconds then disconnects whenever I try to make it the chosen audio output. Driving me INSANE. have removed/forgotten the device in BT prefs, reset the airpods..at a loss here.

Figured this would definitely be fixed by installing today's version, but still no dice. ANY suggestions out there? I know this is completely my own doing but it's SO frustrating.

Well sh*t, Netflix won't play at all on Safari after updating. And the Touch ID login box for any website is still screwed up...

netflix is fine here. try signing out, deleting cookies, then signing back in (reboot as well). and/or are you running any extensions? perhaps an adblocker or something is screwing things up; either way, you could also try unchecking "enable content blockers" on netflix.com...

Interesting, I wonder if they're tweaking the graphics at all or its just me. Im using a 28" 4K display scaled to QHD and I was seeing the little 'hiccup' with it opening things like the Application stack in the dock.. After yesterdays beta, it seems to be alot smoother now. Its not liquid like at native 4K but the 'hiccup' it had is definitely gone for now..

The SMB issue (Beta 3) is a strange one. It won't connect to my NAS shares initially but after a few minutes, it seems to work fine.

its like my Mac is destined never to update and be stuck on the first public beta.

having failed to download beta 5, I waited for beta 6. sure enough it told me it would go straight to that, cant remember the size but it was about 7.5gb.

it downloaded slowly and when I went to bed it had a couple of hours to go. got up in the morning and the window was still opened, there was a bar that looked full and it no longer gave a time remaining. I left it for a while. nothing happened. I closed the window and reopened. bad idea. looked like it was going to start again.

opened terminal and typed softwareupdate -ia

like it did with beta 5, It didnt go to back to the start, it didnt resume from the end, but (again) it went to about 15%.

now downloading again.....slowly.....

If it doesn't work again, try removing the beta tester profile and re-adding it before downloading again.

*EDIT - Perhaps the better terminology would be, try un-enrolling from the beta test program and re-enrolling.

Same here. First loaded smb kext manually, but it seems if you wait it will work eventually (maybe after first timemachine backup?).

However, my NAS shows connections are IPv6 (in stead of IPv4). If I load the kext manually, connections will be IPv4.

I did that before trying to download beta 6 for the first time.

I just woke up to the terminal download finally getting there and I get.

Downloading macOS Big Sur Beta 6

downloading: 100.00%

sure enough, softwareupdate -ia goes straight to 15%.

whilst no one else on this forum has posted the same error, googling it finds a thread on developer.apple.com

where a number of people have the same error.

I've gotten it to work with this command in the Terminal: sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/smbfs.kext

Many thanks for this fix, worked for me. I have an issue with the finder constantly crashing on a Mac Mini late 2014, i5. All other Macs ok, anyone had similar?
