Apple Genius have a lot of bull **** to cover this. update will not fix this, trust me. if you really want a exchange why not just return it, if not over 14 days and reorder online, not at apple store because you might end up another Jizz phone.

I'm sure we're all enormously grateful for your authoritative insights.

I have last little insight is , if you successfully return your phone please put review etc. return or something at http://sndeep.info/en. In here all reader if you kept your phone don't bother. if you return mean you dissatisfied. how to teach apple a lesson is marketing. no exchange to keep. return right away. black Friday is coming. if you want revenge is return and write down your serial and write review at the complaint at http://sndeep.info/en mean they can't sell. selling refurbished as new is against law in united states of America.

Week 41 Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus.
Slight hissing sound when scrolling/doing CPU demanding stuff

Replacement is Week 40, absolutely no noticeable hiss as far as I can tell. (Original was week 37, severe hiss).

Everyone discrediting the users reporting this issue needs to understand that it is very real for many phones, and not just noticeable when you're looking for a problem. Like I said on the first page of this thread, I heard the noise quite loudly within the first few hours of ownership on launch day while the phone was several feet away from me. Some iPhone 7 devices have the hiss more severe than others, so maybe there are some that you only hear when you put your ear to the back of the phone. But, like I said, I heard the noise coming from MY device while the phone was not even within arms reach, before this thread was even created and before I read any reports about it. My week 37 had severe hiss. My week 40 has none (that I can hear).

No none is discrediting the reports; hell I have it but it's not bothering me because I don't keep my phone to my ear and there is always some type of noise in my video to wash out the white noise. What I'm saying is that Apple has made millions on top of millions of iPhone 7's and so far the weekly results are just as random when this was first reported about a month ago. People have spent the last month wasting their time. This "hiss" as random as it may be is not going to be magically fixed.
"Hissgate" is basically dead and it's either you live with it or you return the phone and wait next year.

I guess the better word/phrase I should have used is "dismiss as a non-issue" rather than "discredit." What I mean is that there are some users who do have the hiss issue, but with their device, it is only detectable if the back of the device is placed to the ear. However, there seems to be a spectrum of the issue, from no hiss to hiss noticeable from close proximity to hiss noticeable from across the room. My original device was noticeable from across the room. Obviously for people who have a device that has the issue only when held in close proximity to the ear, it is a non-issue--but that doesn't mean there aren't devices out there with a greater severity hiss, such as my old one. I actually did get used to it (even though it could be heard across the room under heavy load such as backing up or updating iCloud Photo Library, etc, and from close proximity under little or no load) and planned on keeping the device, until I had to have it replaced for a different reason, and I was shocked at how much of a difference there was. So while I agree that users of devices should and could get used to it if the issue is mild or even moderate (i.e. only noticeable from close proximity to the ear under high load), but users of devices with a severe issue that is apparent from several feet away should know that there are devices out there now that don't have this problem--at least not as pronounced.

All 3 iPhone 7's (week 35, 38 and then 35 again) I've had hiss when you push it right up to your ear and you can hear it a little bit in video but only if it's really quiet. You will not find a single iPhone 7 or 7+ that doesn't hiss when you push the apple logo right to your ear. From what I've seen they all have it in the video as well. This current phone came with a scratch on the antenna band out of the box and I can see diagonal lines across the screen when tilted in a certain angle but I've had enough of the return game

Whats the ios version ? I had a week 42 which hissed with 10.2 , but doesn't do that with 10.3.

It is definitely possible to under clock a core to reduce the hissing in software.
it came with 10.0.2 and I've updated it to 10.1 beta preview 5 - still no hiss.

I had a week 37 plus which i returned due to hissing so i know what it sounds like and how audible it can be.

Do u think this is software issue that will be corrected through a software update? or is it more then likely a hardware issue?

Hardware - no doubt. But the sound on video can be adjusted by changing the gain on the microphone via a software update

I need to get a replacement cause my phone is hissing in video playback, are the replacement phones the same as the new ones that come in the retail box?

If you are in your 14-day return window, you will get a brand new device. If you are outside of it, you will get a white-box one.

Whether the white-box ones at this point are refurbished or new is up for debate. Some people think that it is too early to have refurbished iPhone 7's.

I got it last week at the Apple Store but the problem is I bought it on a carrier contract which I think would be a bit different.

My 256Gb Black does not have the said hiss, if the sound is similar to what a high powered PC GPU/PSU is then I should be able to hear it if I have it on my phone.

I recorded new test videos before and after upgrading from iOS 10.0.3 to 10.1 and there is no difference at all in the mics levels or sensitivity, also no change in hissing / buzzing and other electric noise. :( So iOS 10.1 did not fix / did nothing to the buzzing and hissing issue..

You'll get a white box
That's what happened to me. It should be new, way to early to have refurbished units anyhow
I hear that sometimes a refurbished is better then a new one. Was the one you got in the white box good?
