Messing with color filters makes the problem worse. Difference is your changing the blue to a green, red, yellow, etc. but the one color I cannot get is white. Also a lot of buggier **** seems to happening with the damn phone. It will suddenly scroll to the top if I reposition my hand. It keeps minimizing safari as I scroll down. I cannot close a single running program, I have to have at least two running. The whole thing just seems rushed. Build quality doesn’t seem bad, there are no noticeable flaws, but this phone wasn’t ready for a wide release. I’m thinking I got in on the quantity over quality phase of the production process.

Regading what is being called "Bluegate", there is no gate. This is a characteristic of OLED displays, along the fact that the degree of the color shifting varies from one panel to the other. This is what is expected, when Apple decided to shift from IPS LCD to OLED.
As any other technology, OLED has its advantages and its disadvantages, and color shifting and burn in are well known. It is not exclusive to iPhone X OLED displays.
For those who find this not bearable, the solution is to opt for an iPhone with a LCD panel.

Agreed! Got rid of my yellow problem easily ...

After i calibrated my device using the instructions from a couple pages ago. The yellow tint is gone. Everything even looks crispier which i wasn’t expecting..
for those that haven’t tried the color filtering tools. Give it a go now!
For those who think that they shouldn’t have to do that and that it should be set up out of the box. You have a point. But they didn’t use your personal preferences for the setup. They did what they thought was best. Now use your personal opinions of what a device should look like. And tune it for yourself. It takes like 2 minutes.

I’m not trying to spam but I do think everyone should see this before writing off their display.

Notice the position of the Hue Slider around blue and purple. That seems to be the sweet spot for most people.

Make sure True Tone is off when calibrating.

Enjoy.

It’s basically the same setting feature Samsung includes on their flagship phones. OLED is not LCD. The contrast and illumination is handled very different than LCD, and it’s jarring if all you’ve stared at for the last 10 years is Apple iPhone LCD displays.

This is the way in looks on my Samsung S8+.

You’re not spamming. Repeat this post as much as you can. It’s easy to miss (I did this thread is now 18 pages). The difference is unbelievable and people need to stop bitching and just so what you said. Best info I’ve read on MR in years

Rock on mate and thanks again. Solved all my problems

One of these I’m looking at has dual tint straight on. Yikes

Can see it with google.com in landscape scroll to bottom that grey rectangle

Thats not that uncommon with OLED, either

Mine's got the same kind of very subtle pink hue in a band down the left hand side. Most noticeable on a dark grey background – the top and bottom bars of Garageband (which runs in landscape), for example, look like different colours.

Don't think I'm gonna do anything about it, though. It's not that noticeable and I think it's just an OLED thing.

Some pigment variation near the edges is well known about OLED. You get the same feedback about Samsung Galaxy displays.

I'm not usually that picky but it looks odd. Pink at the top and yellow at the bottom. It's not a tilt axis issue as the photo you took is pretty much head on. I have seen this strange pink hue on other X screen photos on here. Not sure why it's like that.

It’s not uncommon but one of my three units doesn’t have it at all that I can see around any edges

Even if you fuil-screen a solid dark grey wallpaper?

If you happen to have the Plex app on your X, the Help & Support page, viewed in relatively low light, seems to make it particularly apparent. One edge of mine is darker than the other.

I think whites

On non whites if it’s subtly there shouldn’t see it I don’t think

If it’s intense probably so

I just returned both Qualcomm 64

My intel silver 64 (first try) easily has the best screen. No comparison.

Glad to put this to rest early on and have perspective of what variation is out there

My parents also didn’t want the X and we’re gonna think about it so I cracked open the 2nd silver. It was that dingy yellow a few posts up. Utterly disgusting imo

The space grey was straight on two toned. Also nasty

The other two had those hot pink edges. This one the silver 64 att does not.

Gotta pick your battles but there’s a few to look out for here

If you don’t see any fault with your display , carry on as usual imo.

Not having a discerning eye is probably for the better

Hard to tell if our screens are messed up lol. I’m really NoT techy at all. And all you need to do is adjust the settings ;)
Ehhh it's just as I thought -> pink at the top, yellow at the bottom
I tried different settings, but it's the same, always more yellow color at the bottom side

In my opinion, it's quite bad. When you are looking absolutely straight at the display, colors should not be so different. The bottom is definitely greenish, the top part is more or less ok. When I examined iPhone X in person - I was very disappointed by the quality of these OLED displays.

Sorry, I don't get it. What's that picture meant to be showing?

I just cropped two parts of the background (marked with red boxes), which obviously should be the same color.
