To be honest, I had the blue hue screen since launch and didn’t pay much attention to this thread since I kinda like the display head-on.

Sadly, over the weekend my flash stopped working and got phone replaced today. Here where it gets fun.. new phone has no blue tint. Slightly yellow but think that’s normal.

But the screen doesn’t seem to “pop” as much, seems dimmer, and it making we want my blue screen back! Looked more dazzling.

Anyone else experience this?

Disclosure: Settings and conditions I’m in are exactly the same as my first phone.

Ok so on day 1 I picked up a SG 256gb and it had a yellowish tint to it. Even with True Tone off u could see it in daylight. My fiancé picked up a silver and it wasn’t as yellow.

Mine just looked yellow and at minimum brightness it was too dark. Both had good contrast through.

Managed to reserve for mates 2 more iPhones a week later.

1 had patches of uneven tint at startup but of course I didn’t mention it nor did it bother him.

Second one looked perfectly even white from the side. But front on it looked like it had a pinkish cast to it. With True Tone on and compared to mine it looked like a purplish tint on it.

Is there truely no way of getting a D65 calibrated Apple intended display?!?

I spoke too soon.

This new display has horrible banding and grainy DSE on dark grey. Check yours at night in the world clock.

I’m not sure the perfect screen does exist. Time to settle / give up unfortunately.

Shame for such an expensive device.

Yep, this one is going back as well, here is the banding. Perhaps off topic but there are plenty of threads about it. The first display didn't have this problem. It's awful in dark mode apps. Annoying!

WOW :O That looks horrible :O

What suprises me is that with this screen is so many issues, like the yellow color yet we don't see it anywhere in mainstream media, I only saw one article about green stripes, but it seems like it is not that usual. But here are almost 50 pages of people with yellow-ish screen and nobody cares

Ah so that's what that is! "Banding" - I had this on a couple Apple Watches before and it was even visible on all colors when looking at photos, but especially on grays. There is no way I would accept a phone like this though. That needs to be returned immediately.

Wow, that's crazy bad.

I must have hit the jackpot with my iPhone X. Aside from True Tone being way too aggressively yellow (which is probably a software issue, and easily addressed by turning it off), my display is basically perfect.

The blue tint when you angle the screen left or right is not a big deal for me I always liked blue tint. And I actually like the true tone now because under certain lighting it looks good and is easy on the eyes.

How about three iPhone Xes, posing for a family picture, all with different color temps. Snapped today in my office.
From L-R: 64GB SG T-Mo; 256GB Silver Tmo; 64GB SG TMo

The first two are mine, of course, because I have bad luck with ANY type of panel lottery. The third is a friends who 'doesn't understand what the fuss is about' and of course, the one with the best screen among the three lol FML.

they look ok. Apple has had crap quality control since the iphone 4. I think Samsung purposefully gives apple the crap screens in spite.

Keep exchanging guys. Mine is no problem at all true tone is perfect and colors are perfectly uniform. Never had this uniformity before. My first one had really bad blue shift and awkward yellow true tone. This one is just perfect.

Excited today to pick up a Verizon X so I can swap out my AT&T. The Verizon one gets better signal in my phone, even though it's not a scientific test.

But, opened the box and it was still very different from my AT&T screen. I uploaded a new video to show the differences. At this point, I'm inclined to keep the one on the left (AT&T). Full brightness and True Tone on for both.

I am on my fourth and fifth iPhone X 256GB silver unfortunately. I have not been satisfied with the screens but I am just going to pick one of these two as I cannot keep playing this annoying lottery. I just want feedback as to which one everyone thinks is better. The one on the left is very cold in temperature (which I kind of like the crispness of) but the blue tint when tilting is very extreme and comes on quickly and washes the images out at an angle. The one on the right is more warm tinted and probably more accurate however a bit less pleasing. However when tilting it, there is a noticeable albeit slight pink tint before it goes whiteish. The colors on the warmer one seem to pop more in photos. The pink really annoys me though so i don't know. Also it doesn't help that the one on the right has a small piece of dust underneath the camera and speaker crackle is worse than the bluer one. Please give your opinion so I can quit worrying about this trivial thing and enjoy this lovely phone. First two was a unit that had a horrible pink band on the right side of screen and second shifted horribly pink at slightest movement. Thanks!

I would go for the left one, white seems white with nice brightness. I wouldn´t care about blue tint when you till the phone, bacause how often do you look on the phone from angle?

Thanks! It is very crisp indeed and the text pops on it. The uniformity could be a bit better (dark grey images have slight color shift) but it is overall pleasing. It's just the blue shift is INTENSE so I wasn't sure...but I think it's unrealistic to expect perfect qualities in every area for any OLED panel. I've always preferred cooler screens.

My phone has a very yellow tint without true tone on. It's actually the most warm display I've ever owned, and I hate it. Every time I use my phone I'm constantly thinking about how bad the screen looks rather than enjoying using it. :(

On that note, should I try to get a replacement? I've missed the 14 day return window and the thing that is stopping me is hearing about how random the quality of the displays are, like I might get one that's even worse or has other issues. Also, I'm not too happy about the possibility of receiving a 'refurbished' phone.

Is this also not just because OLED is totally different in how colours are produced and doesn't have a backlight, like LCD?

I phoned them after 14 days as well and they will replace my phone no question asked. It should be delivered to them today and within 1 to 2 weeks I should receive a new phone, at least that what they wrote

I got my retail replacement today! What a joke, This screen is more yellow than the one I’m using now. It also had horrible pink banding around the edges which my current one doesn’t!

The rest of my current one works great and with the colour filters looks okish, I love the phone and can’t be bothered with months of screen lottery so just going keep my existing! What a waste of time!

Hi all, I thought this would be useful for anyone suffering issues with their iPhone X screen -specifically those feeling their display is too warm / yellow / pinkish.

I booked an appointment with the Apple Genius Bar today (I’m based in the UK), as my screen was on the very warm side but also suffered from notable pink banding around the edges of the display, and appeared to have a largish pink patch in the upper right hand corner of the device which could be very distracting when using apps with a white background. It was much more noticeable with True Tone on, as well as Nightshift on in the evening (at its warmest setting).

The Genius was very helpful and got a display model to compare the two side-by side, with the same display settings. Even I was surprised by the marked difference. The display model was bright, crisp and and had a blueish tone to it, whilst mine was very dull and yellow / pinkish. He was so surprised by the difference he called a number of colleagues over to take a look also and of course they all checked the ‘display accomadations’ setting to ensure nothing was on that shouldn’t be (i.e. a colour filter etc). We checked every possible variable.

They replaced the phone with a brand new version which we set up and checked before I left. I also compared this phone side-by-side with a display model, with the same display settings turned on both. These were now both identical.

I am much happier with the replacement. However I do feel there is an issue with the OLED screen on these X’s and True Tone, as well as Nightshift on its warmest setting. All the iPhones I checked in the store appeared to suffer with some issues with uniformity with these two setting enabled and I think Apple has some work to do on the software side to adjust this. True Tone especially seems to be ‘exaggerated’ on the iPhone in some way, especially when you compare it to an iPad with True Tone turned also on. For now I am keeping True Tone enabled, but at night I am having Nightshift on its mid-way setting, as this seems to play much nicer with the screen and its looks more uniform. Alternatively turning Nightshift all the way up top its warmest setting and having True Tone off also seems to work quite well. The two combined appeared to create some issues.

I hope this helps anyone who is suffering from the same problems. It would be worth checking your device side by side with some display models.

Thanks - that’s really helpful, which store did that for you? I’m based in London and only have this option left
