WOW :O That looks horrible :O

What suprises me is that with this screen is so many issues, like the yellow color yet we don't see it anywhere in mainstream media, I only saw one article about green stripes, but it seems like it is not that usual. But here are almost 50 pages of people with yellow-ish screen and nobody cares

iphone screens are always a crap shoot nothing new here. Horrible quality control from little timmy

I am on my fourth and fifth iPhone X 256GB silver unfortunately. I have not been satisfied with the screens but I am just going to pick one of these two as I cannot keep playing this annoying lottery. I just want feedback as to which one everyone thinks is better. The one on the left is very cold in temperature (which I kind of like the crispness of) but the blue tint when tilting is very extreme and comes on quickly and washes the images out at an angle. The one on the right is more warm tinted and probably more accurate however a bit less pleasing. However when tilting it, there is a noticeable albeit slight pink tint before it goes whiteish. The colors on the warmer one seem to pop more in photos. The pink really annoys me though so i don't know. Also it doesn't help that the one on the right has a small piece of dust underneath the camera and speaker crackle is worse than the bluer one. Please give your opinion so I can quit worrying about this trivial thing and enjoy this lovely phone. First two was a unit that had a horrible pink band on the right side of screen and second shifted horribly pink at slightest movement. Thanks!
TRUE TONE OFF IN THESE

How did you get to show that white screen for comparison? Wallpaper?

I found an image of just a "white screen" on the internet and saved it to Photos. Same for both phones. The one that I find more pleasing (left) has a slightly more green-y lower half but it's really not noticeable at all and I think the nice coolness outweighs any negatives.

Guys I have been watching this discussion since yesterday (when I got my phone)

Same issue here, strong yellow tint, utterly distracting
Got some information/solution to share and may be helpful

1. Screen comparison tells me iphone X screens indeed are the warmest
I am based in Amsterdam, I went to a Mediamarkt and Apple Store Amsterdam, compared 10+ iphone X, Macbooks, Galaxy 8, Microsoft surface, TV screens.. Only iphone X screens are yellow, the rest are either pink or bluish.
Interestingly, all the display models have similar level of yellowness... this doesnt vary, have not seen any white one

2. iphone X screens do varies: mine is brighter but slightly yellower than all the show case model i compared

3. Color filter + night shift combination (may not work for everyone, but worth sharing)
I found the color filter too grey and washed out some color, but we cant reduce the intensity further, so I bring in nightshift.
Step 1: nightshift truetone off -> color filter -> color tint -> lowest intensity
Step 2: slide the hue bar to a point that if you slide left it gets green, to the right it gets red, that is the spot I like
Step 3: All above are standard, if you feel the color is too grey or blue, go to nightshift setting, turn it on and with lowest warm. See how you like it. If you want to keep it then schedule something like 4:00 to 3:59, it will then be almost 24 hours on. After this step, my X screen is close to my iphone 6 color temp
Edit: now I am with color filter + True Tone, the True Tone looks very comfortable (it displays crisp white outdoor and hardly noticeable warmness under warm light) with night shift off

I booked a genius bar appointment to chat with them regarding my brighter but yellower screen, will post the result on Saturday.

Cheers

Same here in Germany :(

I got my iPhone X from the online store 4 days ago and recognized during the first boot on the apple logo that the screen is yellowish. I experienced since then a lot with different color settings and found a combination which would work for me but what is even more annoying to me is the dependancy of the viewing angle. When I use the phone on the factory settings with the yellowish screen the color changes to white after 10 degree tilt angle. When I adjust the color filter in a way that the screen looks perfect white for me and change then the tilt angle 10 degree the screen looks blueish. In my opinion 10 degree is very less for the so called best OLED display ever made for a mobile device ;)

So I could life with the slightly warmer color of the screen but not with the color change in dependency to a very low tilt angle. This generates a very nervous and unquiet impression of the screen to me when im using the phone in my hand.

The question for me is if this angle is the same to all iPhone X displays or if it varies from display to display like the color tone? An easy way to measure this is to use a water level app with a grey a white background.

Looking forward to your results :)

This is the second time I have observed you post something like this through the iPhone forums. You're just disparaging against the iPhone displays and slandering Tim Cook clearly indicates you're disgruntled at Apple for something unrelated. But why spread dishonestly and this supposed to convince someone of something?

Third phone arrived today. Identical to the first. Much yellower than my second, much worse colour shift at a tiny angle but no banding. I can't decide which is the least worst. Three phones in though, I guess this is just how it's meant to be with the iPhone X. Worst screen on any device I have had. Just horrid and really inconsistent. Are the reviewers blind?

There are nice white ones with only small colour shifts (not many though?) I believe these were hand picked for reviewers

Mine has a warmer screen that my iPad Pro and iPhone 7+ but I wouldn’t call it yellow, colour shift is quite noticeable but whether it is as bad as the worst examples I’m not really sure

4th iPhone got one without pink bands on sides or piss yellow screen. Never had to play lotto this hard for normal screen. Color shift is very minimal on the one I end with. Slight yellow but I think that’s “normal” iPhone X calibration. I can live with it.

Good luck everyone. Just keep returning unfortunately....

So I spent an hour getting to the mall and another hour finding parking to pick up my Verizon version to use with Tmobile. Now I'm home and finally set it up, and well you can guess what I think since I wound up in this thread. The coloring with slight viewing angle changes is shocking. What do you guys think the normal degree of change to see a shift in the color would be? Mine looks pink/yellow on the bottom and blue on top with just a slight tip forward in my hand. Im talking like normal jostling in one hand and you can see the color change when using the music app. Is that to be expected? I feel like my rush decision to buy it today was a bad one :/

I returned mine for that very reason. It seems most all do it, some more than others.

My lottery has just begun. :D I started the return process as well now. Apple is sending me a new device and I can keep the old until the new one arrives. Great service! Gives me the possibility to take a direct benchmark. That seems a special accomodation. The normal process is sending back and waiting for the new one. I guess they are aware of the problem and try to compensate the customer dissatisfaction. At least anything... Will let u know if I win the jackpot

Well I can only imagine your way of communication in the store...not very surprising they sent you packing. Sometimes it’s much better to remain calm and polite...you’ll get things done that way. Lesson learned hopefully.

no I was very polite. I put all my rage for a 1300 € phone in this post ;)

I just then bought a new one... this had red hue all around the screen which I consider even worse. So thats a return.

Hello, did any of you asked for replacement fom Apple online store. I did and they asked me to give them back my phone in original packing with everything I got with the phone. So I did that and then I got an email that I will get a new phone, but now I got some other email with “credit memo” where is the price of the phone and as payments terms there is “cheque refunds”. Does it mean they will send my money back and then I will pay it again, or will they just a new phone? Their email really confused me as I am doing this for the first time. And another question is: will this replaced phone be a new one or some refurbished/“used” one? I read somewhere that they usually give refurbished one. Hope it makes sense and thank you

They’ve issued you a refund not a replacement.
