I have a light pink line (1mm) on the right side of my phone. I noticed today that the X live wallpaper with orange on the right side that I have on my home screen was enhancing the pink color. I changed the wallpaper to something with blue and green and the pink line is hardly noticeable now.

Your are noticing colour shifts, can you live with this? Personally I couldn't, I don't want to see a rainbow when look at white websites for example. Only you can decide but why settle?

Apple f'd up with this OLED and price combination in my opinion. I've seen the reports on how this is the best screen apple have made or this is the best mobile phone display ever. I dont see it and I've seen at least 30 iphone X. Sure there will be millions sold and many happy users but I'm hugely dispointed and not making excuses for Apple anymore. No way I could recommend this device anymore.
Well in all fairness to Apple it’s Samsung that has the issue at last as far as the display is concerned. Something about their entire 2017 production run of OLED displays for their own phones and the Pixel 2 and the IPhone X have the pink plague among some displays and murk and irregular gradients among others, with a bit of blue shift thrown in, though not nearly as severe as what LG produced for the Pixel 2 XL displays.

From my time with Pixel 2 and 2XL, consisting of research and actual ownership, as well as my time with Samsungs, I think Apple did a really good job setting up good specs for color accuracy, but the OLED technology at its current state can provide only so much consistency across different samples. I have seen very wide variances among Samsung phones. Because of recalls and different return issues, my husband and I had 10 flagship Galaxy phones between us since last year. I saw some striking quality differences in displays even between the same models.

I think I’m going to just live with this pink border unless it gets markedly worse before my return period is up. I do wonder why it’s confined to the edges and why, in my case, it can disappear when the phone is cold or has not been on for awhile. I wonder if it is something to do with the adhesives. There were times the severity of the pink edging on my S8+ also seemed to vary. It was a subtle variance so it was very hard to evaluate. The curved edges did make the pink borders on the S8+ seem much more annoying.

When I’m actually using the phone I don’t try and look for issues to annoy myself with. I’ve tuned out the notch. Initially I tuned out the pink border. I only permitted myself to think about it when it seemed to spread a bit and started encroaching more toward content. It made me wonder if things were going to get worse and if so, then I have to take action before my return opportunity is up. If it can manage to stay confined to the very edges I’ll just live with it.

Crackling speakers and dust in camera lens covers would bother me much, much more than a small pink “bezel”. So I am VERY reluctant to try and play any sort of lottery.

So reading about the pink tint it seems it’s more from oled panels cut closer from the corner of the main piece so they reflect light differently.

So in other words most of us have got corner pieces? I would assume it was the opposite

Because the glue has dried?

I have no idea. Your just going to have to take my word for it… or not.

Previous to the X I had a 7 and previous to that I had the 6 and so on. 6 was fine comapare to my previous 5s out of the box. Of course they are now extremely blue compared to the 7 and X.

When I got the 7 it was very noticeably yellow compared to the 6. I adjusted display accomodation to my liking. Then after a week, I noticed that my 7 was very blue. I turned of the adjustments and never looked back. The display was great.

Then I got my X. Of course it was very yellow looking compared to my 7, which now looks very blue. Again I adjusted display accomodation on the X. I had no other issues with it , so that was great.

Now a month later I noticed that the X was very blue. Turned of the adjustment. Display looks great now.

Of course it’s warmer that the previous iPhones but it’s not yellow. An overly blue display, to me looks like it has a haze over it.

That’s my experience. You can believe me, or you can dismiss it. Entirely up to you.

All I would say is, if all that you perceive wrong with your display, is yellow, and everything else is fine. I wouldn’t go changing the phone.

Biggest trick with the OLED screens is training your eyes to accept the color. Just like when people look at a Samsung LCD TV but accept the bright and vivid colors
After a few days your eyes will adjust to the OLED. you may have to tweak True Tone as well as well as the White Point to get it just right

Mine is sorta pinkish at the bottom, top, and on the left side....I'm not sure whether its worth the replacement. I took this picture with full brightness and TT Off and No Night Shift with iPhone 7plus.

Whoa you’ve got way more pink real estate than I do. I see it toward the top left mostly and it appears to me to intrude on prime viewing real estate. THAT I would return and play the lottery for. I better just shut up and hug my iPhone X and learn to embrace both the notch and the little hint of blush. My phone’s hints of pink are nothing compared to what I’ve seen posted on this forum.

It’s amazing everyone is able to capture the pink on camera this time. When I tried to take photos of the pink on my Samsung for some reason the pics would not turn out. The white balance of the phone camera I was using evened it out. It was frustrating.

It's actually not that pink....the picture seems to be showing more pink. Looking at the actual phone is subtle/light pink.

that make sense to me. I've used the accomodation filter for a long time when i had the 7 & 7 plus. After many months i slightly became not satisfied of the blueish tint, so i set the "intensity level" to the min range.

Whith X i've never used the filters. During the day and indoor i'm pretty satisfied with TT on / off. It bothers me just in the evening with low brightness, looks to yellow for my taste.

guys Ive got bitter sweet news.

I finally finally got a perfect iPhone X. The display is the whiteness ive seen. Here are pics of the 2 replacements ive been sent.

The one on the left is warmer than the right. I love the colour on the right.

Sadly the top camera has a large piece of dust in it (top right), bottom camera as well but u can't spot this one.

Im done with the whole exchange process. 10 months from now I'll be getting a new one. Im keeping one of these phones. Either the left which is a good phone too but warmer and less bright and not as sharp IMO or the one on the right which has a perfect display and live with the dust and pray it moves out of sight. I took a photo and it doesn't show up.

Thoughts.

Can't believe for $1850 bucks I have to decide

Mine is like the left one. Less brightness and more warmer than other devices of my friends and at local stores.
Do you turn off true tone on both device ?

The right one looks the best btw.
My phone looks like the right one glad so I hit the iphone screen lottery this year on the first try.
no dust under camera lens.
no dead pixels.
face id works perfectly no issues.
I will hate to go through iphone exchanging lottery again so much time consuming.

Does the one on the right shift slightly warmer in color (vs its own appearance at an angle) when viewed directly head on? Appears that way from the photos but hard to be sure.

I'd keep the one on the right with the great display and hope for the best. You could return it later if the dust becomes a problem. It's the display you'll be looking at, not the camera.

I got a unit I can tolerate!!!

Off axis looks clean and no glaring pink bleed off axis As far as I can tell

It’s got a bit of light bleed but considering I got in on the $549/2 yr att loyalty train, I’m very happy

Faceid seems way less finicky than the last one I tried as part of panel lotto

Mine is on the left. Is that how a "normal" screen should look like? I am not sure if the camera took the photo correctly, but before I sent in mine for service it was looking yellowish (the white colors).

In my opinion, the one on the left looks the best
