Honestly you could go either way. My preference is blue shift over pink. Even head on the one on the left has a pink hue that I don't care for. So I'd take the one on the right.

I just went through the same thing as you. Decided to try one last time for a good screen. In all of my photos the phone on the left is the one I kept. Returned the one on the right.

It's actually not that pink....the picture seems to be showing more pink. Looking at the actual phone is subtle/light pink.

that looks pink to me.

This is going to sound like a dumb question but I really don’t know— what is the True Tone display supoosed to look like? I get either golden yellow or salmon pink and sometimes I get something I can only describe as iridescent pearlescent white (sort of a rainbow sheen) depending on the light around me. Is it just supposed to be plain white or cream colored?

Also, I think I’m going to just go jump off a bridge or something but when I went to show my husband my display’s pink edge problem, the damned thing was not there. Not visible at all. The only explanation I can think of is that the restaurant lighting suppressed it.

This happens to me all the freaking time, though. The microwave won’t work or the tv will act possessed or something electronic will just not work for me and (it’s like somebody posted earlier in either this thread or a similar one), the guy just has to stand nearby and whatever was wrong won’t manifest. Which would be great if we were cojoined twins and he was always with me. But he’s at work most of the day and as soon as he is gone, the stuff is back to acting defective.

The microwave in our last house was the worst offender. I swear that thing was possessed and hated me. It would turn on by itself just as I would get ready to put food in it. Every time I tried to open the door it would turn on and I would have to slam it shut. My husband would come over and it would stop messing with me and act normal.

Anyway the pink edge is back now. Of course it is. My husband is in bed asleep. It’s never going to appear when he looks at it. And I’ll look like a lunatic.

I believe you... One time the radio in the bedroom turned on by it self without being plug to the outlet.

:eek::eek::eek::eek: Aiyeeeee!

That one is hard to explain away! At least with my kitchen appliances I could always tell myself it was a loose wire!

I’d like to believe there’s a plausible, rational, scientific explanation for everything. But I have seen a few things that left me having to shrug and file them away under “insufficient data” as far as being able to explain them adequately. Stuff happens. I just roll with it. o_O

guys the ones starting with G0 are equally as bad

According to the serial, these are manufactured in the US. The G0s ive seen none have dust in the lense so they are obviously building these with the window shut but the screen omg, excessively pink and patchy.

The DN sets ive seen are just slightly reddish (when compared) and look violet (blue + red) some times and some might prefer the yellow models over this BUT if u look at the greys on these phones they have better depth to them and as someone mentioned above blue shift is more obvious on these models. BUT all of the DQ, I say again, all of the DN have dust in the lense.

The yellow sets tend to shift less to blue and even from the side look yellow... But the greys are washed out and under light can appear greenish (blue + yellow)

Personally if I had to choose between a slight red or yellow I would go with red.

Again for this price we shouldn't have to decide.

Displaymate and some reviewers need to go out and purchase random phones and honestly do a analysis. To do it with a specialised batch of phones given to them just isn't right.

In my opinion, both are bad screen. The right one is even but yellow as hell, the left one is whiter but uneven.. starting from the top right it turns from yellow to pink, according to the pictures posted.

Serial does not matter re: good screen or bad screen. It is a total lottery. I've had ones from F1, DN, FK, G6 and all had a combo of issues. In my attempts, FK3 has been the absolute worst. Pink hue screen and dust under camera lens on all of them. G6 is what has been on display at one of the Apple stores near me, the G6 I got suffered from pink edges. My current one that I am keeping is F17.

I hate pink tint. Hate it. Don't know why it irritates me so much but any hint of pink drives me nuts and is distracting. I'd take blue shift any day over pink hue or shift.

The only thing that matters, based on info people have posted (no idea if accurate, but have read this multiple places), is how far from the edge your screen was cut off of the main glass sheet at the factory. For $1000 they should all be cut from the same area and not close to the edge of the main sheet - resulting in bad tint / hue.

Mine are both DN and one shifts to blue and the other one shifts to pink.

What is incredible is that yesterday I tested “The Martian” from iTunes, and I got very significant color differences, not even with an angle (head on) !

All that with true tone, night shift and color filters off !

The pink one is much much more vibrant with great blacks, although a little pink whereas the blue one is very dull with a better color accuracy but poor blacks...

Greetings from Poland.
Got my X from a premium seller two weeks ago and since then have been trying to understand whether there are any defects with my unit. The screen definitely looks yellowish (especially compared to 7 plus) with a blue tint when shifting. TT and NS are always off, as these ones just turn the white balance into some pinkish mess. Seems to be a tricky one to get used to oled considering I’m using the iPad as my second device. Also have compared my phone with 2 demo units in the seller’s shop (turned off TT, NS), and those ones were just horrible, a way more pinker than mine

Neither. Left is too much red right one is too much green. Its not calibrated well. Mine looks white.
I tend to agree.

Neither is acceptable for the price.

But these are my third and fourth iPhone X...

Number 1 and number 2, which had even worse pink shifts than number 3, are already refunded...

Number 4 was my first blue tint one, unfortunately it is a bad one...

What would you do : continue to buy new iPhones X from Apple and get a full refund for the previous ones until it is acceptable ? Or give up and go back to iPhone 7 Plus ?

Because the odds don’t seem too good, 4 iPhones X so far and none was fully acceptable, and when I look at display models in store, it seems only 30%-40% have good white displays with minimum shifts. A lot of bad pink shift or bad blue shift displays there too...

Guys, my device is G6 made week 50, the moment I switched-on the phone I noticed very rare hint of pink edge running on the right side, but after using it for a day and a half, pink hue seems to be gone or faded away. I am not sure though, have a look on the pictures attached and suggest me should I get in for exchange/return lottery!

1.)Full brightness, LEFT-truetone-Off / RIGHT-truetone-On

2.) Violet background.

For what it worths, can you please post a pic?

I’m pretty sure that iPhone X with a “solid pure white” do not exist.

I mean units that don’t need any kind of calibration via accomodation.

Solid pure white=under the outdoor lights, not a cloudy day, True Tone on.

Agree. Has anyone seen Erica griffin’s latest video she talks about the phone being calibrated perfectly. In her first video she said the screen has perfect balance between top and bottom.

The only issue she has is with the true tone on it which is too warm and not as accurate as the iPhone 8s

So unless she has a handpicked model she must be very lucky to have such a model. She even says displaymates iPhone X is better than hers based on figures.

I am convinced that all models given to display tech reviewers are handpicked. A good iPhone X screen is certainly in the same league as Samsung's best, and calibration is more realistic. Having said that, however, the standard screen that we get in this lottery is, in my opinion, crap. In terms of viewing angles and color shift is well behind the standard of OLED of 2017. I have seen at least 20 iPhone X, and with the exception of 1 or 2 that were decent, the others were really subpar, taking into account the price charged. OLED panels from phones much cheaper or from previous years were much better. All this, again, only regarding the viewing angles and color shift. So much for the first OLED "good enough to go into an iPhone"...

In my opinion, this is the pure white i’m talking about: day light, sunny day, TTon, accomodation filter on (minimum intensity).

Serial starts with FK1, below the settings

9003AD5F-6E00-4A49-8C9A-13AA972ECCCC.png

Easy to say that the accomodation filter get the most of the job
(comparison beetween filters ON & OFF).

Not happy with that, even if i found i good unit.
I'd like to live wthout that crappy filters, but that's it.

I have attached few pics of my device above, can you have a look and suggest, If I should go for replacement?

Sure Fernando.

As per my opinion, the panel is not a good one.

Too much yellow and - according to the pics - even: there's a shift beetween the bottom and the top.

Please make a picture of the device under the day light (in the one i posted before i was indoor, close to a window, sunny day) , in front/straight position, no tilt, so we compare the 2 devices.

Try to shot both the screen with filters on and off.

It looks weird, but probably it's up to the picture quality.

Is the true tone ON or OFF?

With the combo TT ON + filters ON you get the best white ever in outdoor ambient or sunny day indoor ambient.

Anyway, according to the pics, it looks better without the accomodation filter.
It doesn't make sense.

My 2 cent: your unit is not the a keeper, but it's not so bad.

Don't go through an exchange: if you can buy a 2nd device and keep the best one, asking for a $ refund within the return time span (usually 14 days).

I guess true tone was ON. Not sure though.

Well, in our country we don't get refunds. It get replaced only in case of hardware problem through apple service centre.
So, I am confused should I go ahead with replacement or keep this unit? because what If I get the worse screen than this!

In this device, only thing which bugs me off is slight hint of pink hue on top right edge.
