I guess true tone was ON. Not sure though.

Well, in our country we don't get refunds. It get replaced only in case of hardware problem through apple service centre.
So, I am confused should I go ahead with replacement or keep this unit? because what If I get the worse screen than this!

In this device, only thing which bugs me off is slight hint of pink hue on top right edge.
same pink hue on the all right side in mine.if i where you start loving your display,i saw many iphone X worst than us,blue hue etc.oled is beautiful but have alot of issues.i think the side pink hue might be a sofware issue because sometimes i dont even see it

I am still not able to understand, if these pink or blue hue is normal! If it is than why some panel are perfect with minimum shift and no hue and than their are panel like ours which has some hue and what not.
It restrained us from enjoying the device and instead worry about these niggles.

I got my X. Not awful but somewhat uneven yellow tinge present. I still within 14 days to return but willing to play the lottery. Is it easier to get replacement through mail or in store? Would rather not waste time in store, thanks!

Here, there and everywhere
On mine there is a yellow ish hue to it (which is fine), but when tilting the phone 5-10° In either direction, the screen shifts a pinky blue, as you tilt further it’s more a pinky green

In settings
Tilting Roughly 45° Away from me, the top half of has a pinker cast
Tilting roughly 65-70° away from me, top half has a light blue cast, bottom a pinker cast
Roughly 80°, top half has a Pinker cast
85°, has a light blue cast top half
90° Top half looks clear, bottom blueish.

Rocking between 75-90 is horrible, but even tilting a few degrees towards me I can see the bottom shift to blue.

I thought at first it was because I still have the protective plastic on the screen, but even when lifted off the display, it still does it. Attached a video of it.

While I have a couple of issues with my 6s’s Screen, it doesn’t shift colour like that.

At 5-10° Off angle it is simply darker at the top / bottom of the screen.

Please only swap your device if your unhappy with it. The worse thing you can do is look for problems. If you've come to this thread because your concerned your screen looks off then by all means swap it. It's alot of money and should be right. But it is a lottery.

Doesn't look great in the video. It's like a blob of pink is shifting as you move the device. Seeing this type of effect on every moment killed this device for me.

Yeah that sorta shift with that little movement is usually a crappier panel imo

It’s certainly putting me off the device. I know there’s supposed to be some shift, but that doesn’t seem right to me. But I wasn’t sure about it.

Should I exchange this one? When you look off angle it's less yellow than en face. Thanks

that looks pink to me.
Sent that unit and got a new one. No pink around the border, but suffer the pink shift this time XD.

Mine does something similar to that, it does a blue/pinkish shift. However my screen is actually uniform and looking straight looks fine + no pinkish around the border (my first one was yellowish + pink borders at the bottom and left side).

Can anyone post of what a good shift looks like???

I was in several shops yesterday to compare the bluish tint of my iPhone with other iPhones. I have noticed that the displays of the iPhones in the shops are all slightly more greyish than mine. The blue cast was more or less similarly strong. Unfortunately, you notice the bluish tint on my iPhone especially when you use the phone in one hand and have to hold it at an angle. But see for yourself, what do you think of the display?

My X is way too warm compared to all my other iOS devices and MacBooks. I edit a lot of photos on the go and the yellow display on my X makes photo editing impossible. On top of that, my display has uniformity issues (see attached), dark grays become muddy green and its especially noticeable while watching videos in the dark. Booked a Genius appointment and I'm hoping the replacement unit is more consistent.

How'd you take the picture? Does the iPhone look that way in the dark or did you expose the picture longer? Mine looks absolutely even in the dark with the free eye, but when I take a photo with my DSLR with a long exposure time you can see that the iPhone is less bright towards the edge.

Took it with my DSLR and kept the exposure as close as possible to the real thing. iPhone Display was at 50% brightness, True Tone turned off. This is how it looks like under real conditions, albeit slightly dimmer.

My display is definitely not uniform. Not trying to force an issue with my display here. It came to my attention while I was watching a movie on my X and noticed the grey reproduction tended to appear green and muddy on the sides compared to the center (landscape view). This is on top of the completely wrong color balance of my display.

happy new year guys

The big question is: do crispy, pure white units exist?
:)

And if so, are 'em crispy even in indoor/low light conditions?

I have sent my X at service centre, will be getting white box replacement by 7th Jan. Fingers crossed, I so want to get white display with no pink hue or pink edges also without any dust in the camera lens.(My previous device had 2 dust particles in upper camera lens.)

Fifth iPhone X...

New one came also with a rather noticeable shift to blue, however it is more uniform than the last one.

I don't know what to do : give up ? settle with one of these two ? try yet another one ?

Personally, I’d go for uniformity over blue shift, but I wouldn’t worry about either, tbh.

Fifth iPhone sounds super stressful, man. It’s fine. Really it is. Pick one and enjoy.

Yeah I’d go with which is more uniform

If one panel more instantly
Shifts off axis and anything but straight on (you would know, it’s like TN level shift) then no

Definitely go with the uniform one. Stop this lottery and enjoy your unit.
Thanks for the advice. I think I will stop the lottery and definitely settle with one of these two.

The more uniform is the pink one (the one on the left), right ?

This one, shifting to pink, is closer to good to what I consider a good display.
It's just a little too pink at an angle, like it's blushing. But otherwise, it's very close. And it's whiter straight on.

When I show the two models to people, a majority prefers the pink one because it seems whiter !
