Good luck. Hopefully if the store doesn't help you out Apple will. You shouldn't have to put up with a really bad screen. I've gone through more returns and re-buys than I care to admit, lol. I've also sold borderline phones rather than return them because I don't want to abuse the return policy. The borderline ones I just sucked it up and took the small loss. The obvious defective phones I returned and have never gotten attitude / rejected / banned / looked down upon. Staff has always been pleasant to me, managers included, and willing to accommodate me. Depends on staff and store and how you interact with people, obviously.
Either the 5.8 inch X2 or the 6 inch LCD iPhone. I really dislike the OLED screen lottery. It's been much worse than the LCD lottery.
Mine is also G6 and is the best one I've used. My last 3 phones had been from F17 (pink edges at low brightness) and two from FK3 (bad pink shift and dust under camera lens). I am not sure how relevant, if at all, factory is in all of this. But the Apple stores near me mostly had G6 models on display when I last checked. Intentional or not, no idea. I've seen some crappy display models as well.I've purchased 3 different iPhone X's all with G6 starting serial numbers, and all 3 looks good to me. Even white screens, no pink edges, and no color shifts.

I have a G6 phone that has a white screen, but a very faint pink line (about 1mm) on the right side. I don't think many would notice it and I'm sure the Apple staff wouldn't under their bright lights. In the past I would have returned it, but I've gotten to the point of thinking nothing is perfect and if doesn't bother me or isn't yellow I can live with it. My 2016 rMBP has a slight pink to blue shift. I returned 2 before keeping this one and I don't even notice it anymore.
I tried to capture them in different anglesLol at the thing locked down like that
Looks like a nice screen
I went to target where they have the demo iPhoneXs. I will attached the images of those units and 1 video. All have night shift + true tone off. 100% brightness. Let me know what is your opinion about these!! I think these units are the ones I want. Almost clear white and good shifting
P/s: sorry for the vertical video
I'm seeing the pink edges/border on the iPX on the left. The one on the right looks pretty even to me.I've tried many demo units and i noticed that they all look the same.
Dimmer, and bit less brighter.
Definitly not to take as a benchmark because:
1) those models have a different firmware version with (probably) a different color calibration settings
2) all the displays are in "heating protetion mode" that cause a lower brightness.
Moreover, i'm pretty impressed about the calibration of Xs.. the demo units looks very very similar - nearly equal - in every store i tested it.
I Toke those piture a month ago, same store, 5 different unit, same calibration

Got it, that makes sense. From your post I didn't realize it was 5 different floor units you compared with. I'm glad you were able to get a replacement with a good screen.Yes, the left one was my very first unit, now i'm pretty satisfied with the unit i decided to keep.
But the point is: the phone on the right is actually not just 1, but different floor models i took comparison picture with!

The store wouldn't let me do more exchanges for the exact same issue (would be a different story if this unit had a pink border).
They don’t ban you per se. you can go back the next day or couple weeks and you be fine. But it is awkward because if that manager is on the floor that day and recognize you. I’ve been told the same when I pointed out a scratch out of the box issue before and told me that they would allow an exchange but they can’t keep having you exchange over and over.retail or Genius Bar swap?
they banned you from continuing? dang,

Did they exchange you a retail packaging or just a white box?Was able to exchange today. Another F17 model. Screen went WAY brighter, but had the exact same yellow middle -> pink -> blue. However; the blue is much less noticeable, which makes the shifting way more tolerable. The store wouldn't let me do more exchanges for the exact same issue (would be a different story if this unit had a pink border). The managers phone had the same shifting going on to a slightly less degree. So I decided to take the new phone. I'll just use it for a month and if the yellow middle isn't better by then I'm going to be using Apple Care.

They processed a return so I could get a new retail phone. It's from the exact same batch and factory (F17) though. I did get Applecare+ with this replacement just in case. If it doesn't get better or I don't get used to it I'll just send it in for repairs through Applecare. Rest of the hardware is just fine so don't want to risk an exchange then.
Never understood the fuzz about refurbs, if a refurb performs better than a retail unit, then I'm more than happy with the refurb.
I think a month or two out it’s fine
But unsettling to get a mismatched with retail box serial, out of a white box possibly with refurb model# in settings-about, at launch
It feels like, well why couldn’t I just get a bit of a refund or a discount for pretty
Much buying refurb up front?
That’s just me tho
I’ve done white box swap at launch for a contract 6s+ Just bc I didn’t wanna incur restocking fee at store and deal with upgrade reset and the wait and all that, and lack of stock if I recall

Having said all that if you get a crap unit out of box and a perfect white box replacement , like legit nearly perfect and gripe free, I think you could throw the semantics by the way side.
Usually it’s a bar swap game tho, and a lock in to being bar phone committed, vs a return policy and free to walk away from it all / try again as you
Feel like it
