Yes! I was referring to #1142
And of course I had to roll a 1.. :/
> the lack of blood must be affecting your wits, Frostbeard.
you didn't roll a 1, you rolled a 3 (+2=5 damage)

On second thought, why waste the whiskey? Bad dice rolls won't seem as bad if we are all lit up on the happy juice!

(Has there been any word of our missing Master Fletcher?)
Delighted to have been of some small assistance.

>>> I must've missed that part. HP restored to Veit -- the attack never happened. I never calculated the goblins' damage -- I've always used 5. My plan was to switch to calculated damage after you finish this story milestone. I wanted to keep things simple at first since there's a lot of moving parts to learn alreadyi think it was specified that the move away was only if the goblin was killed. (exactly to avoid opportunity attack) (posts #1142-1143)
since he wasn't, he would not have moved away
the attack of opportunity in this case is not warranted.
@ravenvii , another question, any reason you are not rolling the damage for the goblins anymore? are you just taking the average (5 in this case)?
>>> I edited the post -- ranged attacks now have disadvantage. Let me know if you want to change your move.Raven: I'd like to finish the little guy off! My shortbow is ready!

You dash in between Bartholomeus and Veit and with your shortsword, you --I will use my nimbleness and sneak attack - let's finish this!
Monk'd you again!![]()
eh. that sounds good.Works for me, watching a movie of badass monks just now
While having a sip of Whiskey lol
Just to stay in character of course!
You rush towards the goblin as he is reloading his shortbow. You prepare to thrust your scimitar --Status?
Nevermind
I snarl to the goblin at the bend with the bow (i assume he is close enough, if not, will change action depending on situation)
>why don't you pick on somebody twice your size instead, huh?And i rush him with the scimitar ablaze
(Note: as he is using the bow, he is not using his shield, so his AC should be 2 less)
You rush towards the goblin as he is reloading his shortbow. You prepare to thrust your scimitar --
*** CHECK ***
AC of 12, and you got +5, so:
Bartholomeus: 19
Almost! Alas, so the damage is 1d6 + 3, so:
Bartholomeus: 5
Yeah, the goblin is a goner.
*** CHECK ***
-- and run the goblin through with the blade. He did not die instantly; he fell to the ground after you withdrew your scimitar, and life bled out of him.
>>> @Scepticalscribe you're on! Since Bartholomeus moved forwards, you can now attack the remaining goblin directly. Remember that he only has 2 hp.
I was wondering about that before, thought you were probably so thrilled about this game that you couldn't sleep!
Good luck though! Crossing fingers. I had my 'grande finale' today at work - and look at me : still alive!
Tomorrow is off though!
And guess what: Shaolin Monk did get stabbed!
..but was bleeding gold. So cool.
great! such a killing-machine..can you sleep at night though?
And yes, after we're done here we should hide the bodies and take care about master Fletcher.
Do you suggest that I use a weapon (for example, my short sword), or a handy cantrip in order to expedite his dispatch to whatever strange form of afterlife goblins are said to inhabit?
it's almost the same. but,
the goblin has only 2 residual HP. range is not a concern.
if you hit, you cantrips deal a damage of 1d8, while you sword deals a damage of 1d6+2.
therefore...![]()
While I can read election stats effortlessly, I find my eyes glazing when reading these stats. Candidly, I still don't understand quite how they work and what this terminology means. (meaning, I don't 'get' 1d6, or 1d8; what is the difference between them and why, and how is it calculated?)
Which is better, which is more efficacious (and why) and which of them are a better use of the skills and powers at my disposal?
That's easy to learn.
1d6 means: roll 1 dice with 6 sides
1d8 means roll 1 dice with 8 sides
1d6 + 2 means: roll 1 dice with 6 sides and add 2 to the result.
so while both your options (cantrip: 1d8 and sword:1d6+2) have the same possible max result (8) DP was hinting at using your sword since it definitely deals at least 3 points of damage (1+2) while your cantrip possibly only 1 - since the goblin is defeated with 2 points it makes more sense to uses your sword since it basically guarantees his defeat once you actually succeeded hitting him.
