^^ is that true? What about her having two spell slots (as do I)? I thought we couldn't use our four prepared spells but only two of them (which we have to decide on beforehand) - but can change those 2/4 each day anew.

I've been looking back over posts...

There is no rush. Personally I think pausing the game to allow full participation of party members and associated decision making would be a more fulfilling and richer experience, than allowing the scenario to proceed minus a player. I realize @Don't panic is not currently here. FMI, is the DM making decisions for him at this time?
No, that's what we're paused for -- it's his turn in the battle. IIRC he'll be back on Sunday, so there probably won't be anything going on until then other than rule discussions that's going on right now.

Meanwhile on the battlefield...

Claus - our B-squad leader - entertains the whole party! Including the Goblins who are laughing wholeheartedly too!

ravenvii, correct me if you want to handle it differently, but I'd like use Command, Inflict Wounds, Shield of Faith and Purify Water and Food (and Tobacco) as my four l.1 spells that i prepared before going on this journey. That would be great!
[doublepost=1455228890][/doublepost]"Why wouldn't I go and check out the spot? My armor is awesome! :D"

But my initiative is miserable so go ahead on this suicide mission.

Thanks Pluto! extremely useful, but what a bout the three l.0 spells I know, I can cast them as often as I want, correct? I prayed this morning for Command and Bless.

I'm back to reviewing replies and posting walls of text in the support thread :p, but I've also been studying D&D documentation now and then. I'll ask here, based on this quote from the Dwarf Cleric character sheet:
Cantrips. You know light, sacred flame, and thaumaturgy, and can cast them at will.

How does this fit into the cast 1 Spell per fight for a Level 1 spell caster? Is that question worded right? Thanks!

There is no one spell / fight. Your character can cast 2 first level spells/ day and unlimited cantrips.

Thanks and thanks for answering in the Support thread. :)

On the back of the character sheet the number of spells chart I saw, only went down to Level 2. So I was thinking that if a L2 character can cast 2 spells, a Level 1 character would be 1 spell, an assumption. Thanks for clarifying. And I just noticed this: You can prepare a number of spells equal to your level + your Wisdom modifier, as shown in the Spellcasting Advancement table. You also gain more spell slots. So that would be 6 spells. :):)

Currently, you are level 1 so you can prepare 1 + 3 (wisdom bonus). At level 2, you can prepare 2 + 3 (wisdom bonus) = 5.

More spell slots = more spells cast / day.

In any case, don't worry about leveling. It's a long road ahead.

I'm not sure exactly when I'll be bumping into this motley crew, but I'll be in transit tomorrow back home. DM, any idea of when an opportunity will arise? No rush, just for planning purposes. Thanks! :)

"Portia, in the meantime I can ensure you, as a life long and very experienced medic, that as long as you can scream that extraordinary well, you are probably in no life threatening danger. I won't say that you are being overdramatic and pretending to be in pain, because that would be downright rude, but I have a good feeling that you'll survive this trying day. Try putting some cloth over the actual wound and stabilize it by applying pressure. So long, your Dwarf only.

P.S. as soon as our nobleman decided what he'll do next I'll come across the street sprinting and save your awesome ass. That is in case the street is less than 25feet wide, which I unfortunately can't see nor remember right now."

[doublepost=1455719254][/doublepost]Huntn, I have a feeling you should probably pack in a white shirt as well. This adventure will include way less fighting and waaaay more humanitarian help on our part than expected. :(

Make sure you prepare a ranged healing spell as well! There will be a lot of healing and curing and healing necessary.

To be expected, we are mostly novices here. I'll need someone to show me how to point my spell finger, lol. But I have been studying D&D mechanics. ;)

Don't Panic

No, you mean Barty Lochaber Sir... don't break my immersion.
:p

SS is ScepticalScribe.

Or Syllin Siannodel. Depends on context I'd say. Wise choice, ss! She was way ahead of us with that one. I feel like a super nerd calling you these crazy names (instead of Don't Panic and Plutonius :D), putting everything in brackets..

ok guys, i am back.
i haven't had time to read anything yet but honestly wasn't expecting that anything would be stopped just because i was away. i thought i would be temporarily lost or that you would just skip my turn. or the DM -or the group in general- would play me as a NPC
so what is the situation now?

Quick summary:
Claus in the woods right side of the road.
Velt with a wounded goblin at the edge of the road on the right side of the road.
Portia dying at the edge of the road on the left side of the road.
Syllin in the center of the road next to her dead horse and being chopped up by a goblin.
Bart in the center of the road next to the wagon and Syllin.

I would recommend killing the goblin that's beating on Syllin.

That sounds like a really, really good idea, not least because I - having held the rank of acolyte until embarrassingly recently and only then elevated to being allowed to don the robes of a full Wizard- don't seem to have full knowledge of, let alone mastery of my potential powers and skills as yet.

Apologies to all - domestic stuff and dealing with the endless bureaucratic necessities of being responsible for someone else's life (my mother has advanced dementia) has taken up most of my attention.

However, a heads-up to my colleagues. A steep learning curve is in order for me - as I am somewhat out of my depth, here. To be honest, the world of D&D is completely new to me - I have never played a game, or even as much as observed one and am thus, entirely at sea, here, as I don't even know what is going on. All I knew was that several of the kind of easy going nerds I was friendly with in university were into it - unlike chess (which I play), or WWs - which I picked up - or soccer & rugby - the rules of which, and the goals of which, I understand.

So, what on earth can I do, and what am I supposed to do, and how do I do it?

For our novices, (myself included) this might be helpful. I also posted it full text over in this MRs thread.

Welcome back! I'd suggest picking it up at post #108, p5 as a refresher. Portia & SS injured, others fighting... :)
