Really Simple Question

With everything floating around the net I have a serious headache trying to figure it all out. Can a genius PLEASE answer this for me.

Question:
Can i jailbreak an OTB 16gig 1.1.3 iPhone and STILL have the phone function? If yes, please point me to the proper guide and I'll figure it out.

Simple question. Yes or No.

Thanks.

I think Not... not yet though. I hear it's something with the baseband in a OTB 1.1.3 iphone that makes the phone not work properly when 1.1.3 is crack. But don't quote me on that. I just "HEARD!"

I upgraded the baseband on my UK OOB 1.1.2, and now I can't use my O2 PAYG SIM, so I'd say that no, you wouldn't be able to use any non-iPhone SIM.

Does that mean it's not possible to use 1.1.3 upgraded iPhone (Installer's upgrade package) with O2 Pay & Go?

In fact after the firmware update I am stuck with the "connect to iTunes" and "slide to emergency" bar and cannot activate my phone (tried iNdependence). Please read my previous posts...

I am at my wits end here...

I have an original 8GB iPhone, purchased on June 29. I was jailbroken since 1.0 and when I tried to update to 1.1.3 through installer, it didn't work and the phone seemed bricked. I went into recovery mode and installed 1.1.3 via itunes and now I have a standard boring iphone running 1.1.3

I want to jailbreak it, but I cannot seem to get past the point of downgrading to 1.1.1

When I get to the part with Independence, I get an "incorrect/invalid sim error" and cannot make/receive the call needed (*#307 etc)

Any clues?

THanks

I was upgrading from a jailbroken 1.1.2 phone and followed the guide but at step 24 my phone goes to reboot and I just get the apple logo on the black screen. It has been like this for about an hour and every little bit the screen flashes off and then goes back to the apple logo.

Ugh. Exact same situation for me. Yikes. I have no phone.

You need to downgrade the baseband firmware to regain phone functions. Don't panic, read this http://iphone.unlock.no/#how-to-downgrade-1.1.2-or-1.1.3

Nobody has seemed to address this - I got to step 24 and had my phone sit at the black screen w/ logo twice, once for over an hour before I gave up.

Just follow the steps again until you get to 1.1.2, then use the legit iTunes upgrade to 1.1.3. That's what I did.

Cannot Put Ipod Touch In DFU Mode

For some reason i just can't seem to get the hang of putting the touch into the special restore mode...I've tried like 20 times now and my computer won't recognize the ipod...and it would really help if someone could help

I'm hoping someone can help me out with this as I have spend way too much time on this:
I had a jailbroken locked 1.1.2 that I upgraded to 1.1.3 and jailbroken. A couple of days ago I did a restore to 1.1.3 and then attempted to follow the directions here to downgrade to 1.1.1 and then go back up to 1.1.3. The problem that I'm having is after I get to 1.1.3 and jailbroken, I still do not get any cellular reception, I'm with AT&T so all I'm really after is to jailbreak.

I've tried the direction both on a mac and a PC and after going through the lockdownd step, I still get no service.

Can someone help me out here. Thanks.

Why don't you just do the one in installer then. At least to run till things change up again.

Installer Ap Query

Hi,

I got to part 13 and now got stuck.

Basically this does not happen
---------------
(If you are not already at http://jailbreakme.com in Safari, go there now.) Scroll down to the bottom of the page in Safari, and click on Install AppSnapp. Wait for a few minutes, until your iPhone reboots and you are greeted with the default "slide to unlock" screen. You now have a jailbroken iPhone with firmware version 1.1.1, but we're not done yet!

* When you click on Install AppSnapp, Safari will exit and you will either return to the "Activate Phone" screen or your home screen. This is normal - wait for AppSnapp to finish jailbreaking your phone and it will automatically restart.
---------------
When I click on install, it just rapidly exits back to the home screen with the incorrect sim panel and slide bar.(i know to ignore the incorrect sim part).

Any ideas why this does not run?

Cheers:confused:

Update to Post Above!

Ok, managed to sort it out, had to make sure iTunes was running which I think is not mentioned in the original guide, unless I'm blind so a useful add-in I hope to new people like myself.

Just piling through 1.1.3 now so lets see what happens.

This may have been posted or it could have been fixed, but could someone please respond to this:

After i downloaded the 1.1.3 to my phone. I needed to unlock the file using the program on installer. Which using the iBrickr method was no availible. Which download should i use. I read that you should use the 'official 1.1.3 update' file, but it said i needed to connect to a computer afterwards.

Please respond, i hate the standard phone.

[EDIT]
I should have read the instructions again. Hopefully this works. Ill try and get back tomorrow

Process Competed - Unable to Activate Phone Calling

Hi Guys,

Ok, followed the guide from beginning to end which worked extremely well so thank you for explaining everything so clearly int the guide. :)

At the moment though I can't see to call out. :(

When starting Itunes, I seem to be back to the welcome screen with

"Welcome to Your New iPhone" and the three options (Activate with 02, register for iTunes Account, Organise contacts )under let's get started.

I have bought an 02 sim fully loaded under the simplicity contract.

What do I need to do now to get iPhone to call out please? I am a windows user.

Regards

Hi,

I've got a US/AT&T iPhone with 1.1.3 out of the box (so new baseband), it's iTunes unlocked at the moment, however I want to jailbreak it and use a UK O2 sim.

Has anyone jailbroken an out of the box 1.1.3 and tried using a turboSim or similar method?

Please only respond if you have tried this and know the outcome and don't just "think" you know.

Thanks

Take out an iPhone contract. This is jailbreak only, no unlock, not even to a non-iPhone O2 SIM.

Yeah for some reason jailbreakme.com dosent work all the time anymore, so I have a solution. From i.unlock.no(From your computer)
Nothing happens after i visit jailbreakme.com

Make sure your phone is connected to the computer. Try to use i.unlock.no instead of jailbreakme.com.

With your phone connected to your computer, go to i.unlock.no with your iPhone and then it runs the exact same thing...

Restoring Cellular Service

I don't know if this will help anyone or not, but I got all the way to the restore cellular service, and when it rebooted, it came to the emergency dial screen, no matter how many times I restarted.

But on a whim I opened iTunes, and it immediately went into the Activate screen, and I'm now showing AT&T service on the phone and am in the middle of resyncing all my stuff. :)

When they said this was not for the faint of heart, they should have put that in headline font!

Incorrect Sim Issue

I have successfully gotten to the Jailbreak 1.1.1 step. I have the "Incorrect SIM" issue noted at the end of the guide, but the problem is: i cant connect to iTunes. I read that you need iTunes to 'see' your iPhone once before the jailbreak will work, unfortunately, it cant sue to that issue hence, leaving me at 1.1.1 jailed, deactivated.

Can someone please help?? Is there a way to get around this or do a Jailbreak through a computer without using WiFi??

Thanks in advance...

i don't know if anyone else was stumped by this for a couple minutes like i was, but it might be a good idea to say that you need to download Community Sources in order for OpenSSH to show up.

also, i found that if you already have the "lockdownd" file downloaded to your hd it will automatically be found and run at the end of the jailbreaking process in terminal, cutting out the post-jailbreaking phone service-restoring process.
