Couple questions since I'm an Android user now on iOS.

- Updating apps? How do I update my apps? On the Google phones, in the Play Store you have the option for Auto Updates or Update yourself. But on the App store, I don't see my list of apps in there, or an option to update them.

- Security updates? On the Pixel phone, you get monthly security updates, it either shows up as an option alerting you an update is ready, or you can check yourself in Settings - System, and check for an update. Right now, I see I'm on 14.3, but that's been out since early December.

iOS is basically set it and forget it, update apps in the background usually on WiFi and won’t bug you and security updates just randomly pop up and will update overnight when charging and on WiFi.

You can go to the App Store and click on the account tab, scroll down and it should says upcoming automatically updating on apps and then show you the apps scheduled to be updated.

Don’t worry about security with apple.

Updating Apps: Settings > App Store > Automatic Downloads > App Updates.
Security Updates: Apple does not do updates on a schedule. They release software updates “as needed”. There are times I can remember two updates in a single month and other times they go 4-5 months between software updates.

Thank you for the replies, wasn't sure how updates work on iOS compared to the Play Store.

Nice to see you enjoying your time back on iOS/iPhone.

Apple Watch, iPad and AirPods Pro/Max next... ;)

Uh, no LOL.

I'm not a watch guy whatsoever, don't like the feel of a watch or any jewelry on me. So I will never buy the iWatch.

iPad nah, I've survived fine over the years never having a tablet, so don't plan to get one anytime soon. An iPad is a big maybe.

AirPods same as a watch, never comfortable with ear plugs type earpiece speakers, I only like true headphones with adjustable head band. AirPods not happening.

Mac computer, no. I build custom gaming PCs on the side for fun, so a Apple computer is not happening, unless they change their stance one day and allow their OS to be installed on a custom built rig.

If Google goes back to a high end flagship type Pixel, and a large version too, so a Pixel 6 XL, with the SD888, 8GB RAM, 6.5" or so screen size, 4,500mAh battery, 120hz refresh display, that I would upgrade to immediately. I still prefer stock Android over iOS.

Fastest way to do it, long press on App Store icon, select updates, then pull down to refresh the update page. ?

You don't need to worry about this, everyone around the world gets the latest iOS updates at the same time. apple is currently working on iOS 14.4 beta 2, could be a week or 2 weeks away from being released, security updates will be baked into 14.4.

After 14.4 gets released, they'll release another beta 14.5 work on that for a bit, then release that to the public, then 14.6 and so on and so and so on. ?

Question please, one extremely frustrating thing I can't seem to figure out, in regards to e-mail attachments.

I have Gmail installed, and I want to send photos as an attachment to my work e-mail. I do this all the time on my Pixel phone, and they come in as attachments, but on the iPhone, these photos come in as large photos in the message part of the e-mail, not as an attachment, even though I click the paperclip looking icon to make them an attachment but they still show up in the e-mail as huge photos.

I then re-installed Apple e-mail, to try that, but that thing is confusing AF to setup, I must have created some account years ago for @icloud but can't seem to get it setup, says I need to turn on icloud, which I just did, but each time I try to setup Apple e-mail, it keeps asking me to turn on icloud, and then I try to log in, and it says that account is already on this phone. LOL ok?

Bottom line, how the heck, do I get my iPhone e-mail to send my work e-mail photos as attachments, and not come in as full size pictures in the message of the e-mail, I just want it as an attachment.

Setting up iCloud drive? Say follow these steps;

- Settings
- Click my name at top
- Tap iCloud
- Turn on iCloud Drive
- I do that, then a almost blank screen pops up, just shows Cancel or Upgrade tabs. Click Upgrade, nothing happens. Click Cancel, nothing happens.

I have a Gmail account but don’t use the Gmail app—nevertheless I was intrigued.

I saw the same behavior when constructing an email and trying to attach a photo—just a large photo in the body of the message. If you tap on the photo, you will then get a menu option to ‘send as attachment’. If you change your mind and tap it again, it’ll let you ‘send inline’. 81463E4B-566B-430C-B1E2-020ED94F6FDC.jpeg

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle, that worked :) Holy cow man, you have no idea how happy I am to learn this. Thank you. I never would have figured that out on my own, I Googled this issue, and no one mentioned tapping the picture would show an option 'send as attachment'. This is a big frigging deal to know this now.

The default Apple e-mail doesn't seem to have this same option of tapping the pic to make it an attachment, I deleted that e-mail, and will just stick with Gmail.

Glad I could help. I actually haven’t used Apple’s email client regularly in years—Spark is my preferred (and Outlook before that) and Spark has the behavior you and I expected of showing the photos as attachments.

I made it through two pages and saw no one mentioned this. Youtube Premium should get you the option to turn on PIP for all videos in the Youtube app on iOS.

Unfortunately, YouTube limits video playback in the background on iOS to YouTube Premium subscribers, which means that picture-in-picture is also restricted to users who pay for premium YouTube features. YouTube Premium costs $11.99 per month in the U.S., but if you subscribe through the YouTube app for iOS you will end up paying $15.99 due to the 30% App Store commission.

It’s worth mentioning that users with devices running iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and tvOS 14 can also watch 4K HDR videos in the YouTube app for the first time since Apple decided to add support for Google’s VP9 codec to their operating systems this year.

Google didn’t say when the company will enable picture-in-picture in the YouTube app on iOS for all users. If you don’t yet have the picture-in-picture feature enabled in the YouTube app or if you’re not a YouTube Premium subscriber, check out our article demonstrating how you can watch YouTube videos in PiP through Safari.

I have YouTube Premium, and for the life of me, can't figure out how to get PiP to work I've heard it doesn't work on the iPhone, only through a web browser on the phone, not the actual YouTube app, which would be dumb if that's the case.

It does work on iPhone play the video then close the app while it’s playing, that should push the video to the Home Screen, pretty sure that’s how you do it. ?

Make sure the video is in full screen mode when you close the app.

Doesn't seem to work. So I have a YouTube video playing, then I swipe up to go to the home screen, and I still hear the video playing in background, but don't see any option for PiP.

Youtube PiP hasn't been working for me, either, even when I try going through the browser. I think Google finally closed the loophole for that method.

Strange considering you have YouTube premium, is the video in full screen mode when you’re swiping up?

Have you got this setting turned on?
