No leaks regarding an IPAD pro, so I don't think so.
Is there any alternative on the market for an iPad 12.9", maybe with OLED?

There won’t be any leaks, the devices are to big to leak, they didn’t leak last year either. There are no OLED tablets on the market that I know too.

There really only two games in town for tablets. iPad Pro or surface pro. Both are good. I’m Os agnostic now (use a thinkpad yoga fad my main machine ) but the software I need, integration about devices and overall ease of use leaves IPP as the only option (for me). I’ll change my workshops and adjust to the limitations (no usb drives, mouse etc). I just can’t get lumafusion, notability, liquidtext and scrivenever on Windows. Decision over. Also hoping to get into drone video and editing for a vlog. AirDrop makes my life way easier.

That being said the surface pro line is also v v good. No harm in exploring your options. Lenovo is also making some interesting innovative devices. The yogabook is great.

Samsung just released a new iteration to their Galaxy Tab series with an OLED screen about a month back. If you want OLED !

Hope your right. I’ve been pretty confident we’ll see it on Wednesday, but really thought there would be more ‘evidence’ by now being it’s only just a few days before that date. Hmmmmm................?

I’m not saying 100% that we will see iPads but it makes sense given that the September event is iOS focused, iPhone’s and iPads are iOS while there will also be Apple Watch but it’s an iPhone accessory so even tho it does run iOS it’s related to the iPhone event. As far as leaks go the most we have had is the supposed CAD leaks from Onleaks on Twitter. Actual iPad Pro leaks are very unlikely to happen because they are too large to actually leak but also iPhone is Apple’s best selling product with the most attention given to it, people inside the factories are less likely to risk getting sacked, arrested and even prison time for a device that reporters and others won’t pay that much money to leak.

I think it’s more likely that we will see Apple Watch Series 4, iPhone (3 versions) and iPad Pro’s as well as accessories such as the AirPower release date and AirPods wireless charging case.

If there is a second event in October Apple will probably want to keep it Mac focused and the iPad Pro doesn’t fit in with the Mac, not in the same way that it does with iOS.

There have been leaks in the sense of the case and CAD but of course they’re not 100%.

If not, or if it's nothing special, I'll buy the new Samsung Tab S4.

Theory: Logitech crayon arriving to consumers on keynote day coincides with release of new iPP and more advanced generation 2 pencil which won’t work on the regular iPad. Generation 1 pencil discontinued.

Just an idea.
Nice one. Makes sense.

That would leave the 2018 iPad without a pencil that you can buy, which seems a bit unlikely given how heavily Apple are touting pencil support!

Why would Apple hand over their money printing machine (Pencil) to Logitech? And then step away from the Gen 1 Pencil market?

With the way the Crayon is priced ($70), I think it’s clear Apple intends to keep the Gen 1 Pencil. Apple could sell their Gen 1 Pencil at $70 if they were launching Gen 2.

I’m now more inclined to agree. But, as I said earlier, still interesting to release on that date.

Maybe this will article is in the right ballpark:

First and foremost, the Logitech Crayon only works with the sixth-generation iPad (review) — at least for now. It doesn’t work at all with any current version of iPad Pro, so if you have an iPad Pro, you’ll want to stick with the traditional Apple Pencil. It’s highly likely that future iPads will support the Logitech Crayon, however, which means this fall’s upcoming iPad Pro releases may be the first new products to work with Logitech’s stylus.

I do agree...well either way it is interesting that they choose that date to bring out the Crayon

This would allow Apple to capture the Crayon sales revenue through the Apple Store.

Apple licensed the Pencil-lite technology to Logitech. Customers can buy it from Apple or Logitech. It makes sense Apple would want to encourage sales though the Apple Store by placing an embargo on the launch date until Sept 12. This is when the world is watching Apple and clicking on the Apple Store.

If this were a Logitech in-house technology, they would launch it 6 months ago.

The way I see it, the Crayon is a cheap Pencil substitute for iPad (2018) only.

Apple isn’t sure if introducing a $69 Apple-branded cheap Pencil would cannibalize their $99 Pencil and dilute the premium Pencil branding. The Logitech Crayon allows Apple to test the market and kill the license if something goes wrong. I don’t envision iPad Pro being compatible with Crayon due to the premium marketing around iPad Pro.

The Crayon is a lite version of the Apple Pencil that lacks pressure sensitivity. I highly doubt that Apple will discontinue the first generation of the Apple Pencil and leave all current iPad Pro users high and dry. I’m more inclined to believe the theory that the lite version of the technology was licensed to test the market with lower risk to Apple if things don’t work out.

Most rumors say that Apple will have a separate release in mid October if they are going to release new iPad hardware. Some say it will be in February 2019 however! Apple does not want to have a 4 hour event. It better to break it out and have a 2-3 hour event window. Remember a new watch too this year. I think they should just issue a press release for the iPad like they did for the MacBook Pro this year.

What does everyone one feel here ? now that it is almost unofficially sure that Apple is holding the key event for the iPhone announcement on Sept-12 do you guys think Apple would also announce the iPad Pro 2018 along side it ? or does it looks still far off to be scheduled in October or September ?

i would love it if it was but i'm not counting on it. certainly not counting on it being released the same day as the iPhone even if it's announced. i just really don't want to have to wait until next March

Not many rumours give a time frame even Mark Gurmans insiders say “a little over a year” from when the last one was announced, (which was 2017) it will be this year.
The event would be no where near 4 hours, Apple Watch never takes that long for them to announce, there is no Apple TV announcement this year, there’s 3 iPhones to announce which all have the same design as last year, even with iPads it would only go to a little over 2 hours.

Look at WWDC 2017 where they updated most things and the event was only over 2 hours. It’s really all down to how Apple want to play it.

Reference the bolded in your post, why would Apple disseminate a press release for an iPad that is expected to dramatically change with Face ID, display, etc? Apple would be setting the expectation for something that they may _not_want the public to know about, especially if there was any potential manufacturing delays.

It will be this year. All rumours say this year, it’s just whether it’s sept or Oct.
[doublepost=1536482186][/doublepost]Does Apple always do a ‘one more thing’? Because if they do (out of tradition), then what could possibly be the one more thing this launch event? Three iPhones and a new Apple Watch - and then new iPad Pros. Makes sense to me that they could be one more thing.

They don’t always say it but they did say it last year before announcing the iPhone X. Apple Watch and iPhone just doesn’t seem enough for the event which typically lasts 2 hours. I think Apple Watch, iPad and iPhones makes more sense, followed by a October event for Mac’s.

They don’t always hold an October event event either, the last one was 2016.

Or, they announce the iPads at the end of the iPhone keynote, setting up a future date that may or may not be announced at the Steve Jobs Theater.
