With all due respect what Leaks? I’ve seen a CGI mock-up that’s all. And a rumor of an 11” IPad what other credible leaks are there 2 days before possible announcement?

I feel like this has been the most secretive launch ever.

You're forgetting the software leaks:

inside of IOS 12 the new design was discovered, Face ID was also found inside IOS 12 for the iPad. Not to mention Mark Gurman and Ming Chi Kuo have both confirmed the iPad Pro's will be released this year.

Apple has never had an iPad release in February from my recollection, February is not a likely date for a keynote any type of event during that time of year. It will either be this fall or perhaps spring 2019.

The iPad Pro releases have been different every time, 2017 version was announced at last years WWDC and the first gen was announced at the 2015 iPhone event. You are correct that an iPad has never been released in February, it was usually October but since the iPad Pro has been available Apple tend to keep them separate, like this years 2018 iPad was announced at the school event earlier this year, it makes sense for the iPad Pro's to either be announced at tomorrows keynote OR in October.

At this point i'm still sticking with tomorrows event, October would make sense for Mac's but the iPad Pro is an IOS device and with the Watch and iPhone's being announced tomorrow it would make perfect sense to announce there.

Probably the wrong thread but everyone’s here. What do you make of the lighting to USBC change? Is it a lighting to usb c cable and connector or proper usb c? Think they’ll finally open up the iPad to external storage or monitors?

I don’t think Apple will change over to USB – C for the iPad Entirely. It’s just going to confusing with different cables and adapters that will be needed for the iPad all together. But I think what they will do is include the USB-C charging in the box, but I don’t believe the lightning port will be entirely dropped from the iPad.

However, some are under the notion its more logical to start in terms of iOS with USB-C, which would achieve video, audio, and various peripherals connected through one port, which I do understand that side of the discussion.

It is always if, with the iPads considering I do not upgrade my ipad every year I mean on this occasion since a last few years ideally I would have wanted the iPad Pro Apple would have released this year should have come with OLED screens. But that's not going to happen so there's is always a if lol !!
OLED is great looking but I’ll take the current 120hz LCD/LED ProMotion.
Again, OLED is cool, but the tech that will be an absolute game changer is Micro-LED. It is just as good as OLED, is not a natural compound (so it will be a bit easier/cheaper to produce,) and is immune to image burn in.
:)

Kallum.

I gather Apple has had different iPad releases, March 2016, June 2017, March 2018, etc. Really my point was, February is a very obscure month in general for Apple to release any type of new Hardware. Primarily it’s usually surrounding closer to a keynote, but then again, no one expected the Mac to launch back in July of this year either.

Yea they tend not to release anything in February it's usually March-April event followed by WWDC in June and a September event, sometimes we get an October event but that's become rare these days, the last one was 2016 for the new MacBook Pro. They could decide to hold an October event this year OR they could announce the majority of things tomorrow, there are couple of ways it can go to be honest:

September event with Apple Watch and iPhone's, Airpower and "Hey Siri" release dates
October - Mac's and iPad Pro

OR

September event - Apple Watch, iPhones, Airpower, "Hey Siri AirPods" iPad Pro's, new 13" MacBook and Mac Mini, other Mac's like the iMac are given spec bumps either at the event or as a silent update after the keynote. Similar to the 2017 WWDC keynote which was a big product update event along with software.

Totally agreed. As well as the iPad being an iOS device it’s also going to adopt the design style of the iPhone X (and now all subsequent iPhones!). It would complement the new iPhone release very well for Apple to confirm their commitment to a new generation of iOS device design by also releasing the new iPP.

Another point I feel like making is the concrete nature of the iPad leaks we’ve had, relative to the information coming out about the new Macs. We haven’t received anything concrete yet, apart from roughly what they’ll be releasing. With the iPads, we’ve had the info in iOS 12 betas, CAD and case leaks, and articles for over a year talking about how Face ID will be coming. All this seems to point to a rather more imminent release than with the supposed Macs in October.

I’ve been wrong so many times this year but cautiously optimistic. Let’s hope iPads come out tomorrow. Will be watching the keynote and posting here.

I’ll be watching as well 6pm here in the U.K. :) I hope we see the iPad Pros as well but who knows, it really depends on what Apple want to do! They could simply do an event with the iPhone’s and Apple Watch or they could do everything in one keynote (like 2017 WWDC).

I do think it makes sense for the iPad Pros to be announced tomorrow, plus how long would it really take for the Apple Watch and new iPhones to be announced? there is usually something else as well, last year we had Apple TV 4K, Apple Watch and iPhone 8, 8 Plus and 10, even with AirPower it won’t take long since it has already been announced last year, we just need release date.

Not long until we find out tho :)

Which one are you finally getting btw? Small or big? Will you wait for hands on reviews or just taking the plunge? Pretty sure it’ll be the 12.9 blind purchase for me. Go big or go home :)

I currently have the 2017 iPad Pro 12.9”, if the update is as big as the rumours say then I will get a 12.9” again, the new iPad Pro’s are rumoured to be smaller with less bezel, if they can make the 12.9” foot print smaller while reducing the bezel and adding Face ID I’m in :)

Will you be updating to the 2018 iPad Pro? Personally i love the look of the new design from those CADS that have been floating around so if it does indeed look like that I will be happy :)

To be clear there will be No new iPad Pro on September 12 if at all in 2018. It will likely fall back to Mid Feb like the 9.7” IPad Pro did in 2016.
It was very weird of Apple to launch the iPad Pro 12” late 2015 and not say a word about the 9.7” IPad Pro Which was MUCH better than the 12.5” IPad Pro Launch 6 months Prior. So it’s not beyond Apple to do really weird things.

Which is Why I am not selling my 9.7” Pro Until the new iPad Pro 2019 is on Store Shelevs
And you can Forget about OLED. That is Until LG or Samsung have some OLED product ready to offer customers like Apple. The Samsung Tab S4 is 10.5” And OLED. But lacks 120Hz. Apple will have to put in a Large order for OLED Displays at 11” from a vendor like Samsung and that has not happened.
Besides, OLED Displays fall victim to Burn In Image Retention. I would NOT want one. Until a second generation.

Yes yes all right Alex. And the 2017 iPad won’t have a headphone jack. Keep them coming. ;)

No update here I’m going all in. The only iPad I’ve ever owned was a mini 1. I’m taking the plunge and moving my entireobile workflow to the iPad Pro and will keep a desktop for large screen work. It makes no sense to carry around a 1TB ssd, 16gb ram , i7 laptop when all need when mobile is word, mail, scrivener and maybe Luma fusion for my new video hobby.

I’ll give myself 6 months with both systems and to adjust the workflows but pretty sure I can make it work. Plus to be honest I’m actually BORED of normal clamshell laptops. May as well have some fun and enjoy a new gadget while I work. IPP it is (I do have the luxury of adding a desktop btw so this workflow may work for me but it’s definitely not my ONLY device. That’s a couple of generations away true laptop replacement)

Where does it say they will be announced at tomorrow’s event? I think that’s just an outline of what Ming Chi Kuo has already said yesterday. We may see iPads tho, I personally think it makes sense.

If you read the passage it is basically a continuation to the information which says, Apple is all set to announce its 2018 iPhone and blah...blah...the story goes on...you have to read between the lines...
[doublepost=1536676775][/doublepost]Now that 6.1" LCD iPhone is not going to be announced, we have time for some other announcement now lol !

While I agree that we could very well see iPads tomorrow reading between the lines is a bit thin in the ground to say that we will see new iPads tomorrow. I have read a few articles that do the same thing, even Mark Grumman’s latest report mentions the iPad Pro’s but it doesn’t say if they will be announced at tomorrow’s event.

It will be very interesting to watch and see. I’m already looking forward to the Series 4 Apple Watch, the announcement of a new iPad Pro would be great also!

Apple Watch 4 is going to be a show stealer/stopper. People are going to love it !

I believe this is correct. My money is ready.

Mine isn’t. My last one is on the way out after just three years, and it was the Stainless steel thingy. Three years bandelt making it battery-wise has not increased my trust in the product. 15% more screen does neither. Call me back when the thing doesn’t need recharging every night but lasts a week.

I am still trying to fathom what is the real use of the Apple Watch ? If you are not into running, jogging or any sorts of sports ?

Based on articles that I read I do think it will be announced on the 12th. Can’t wait to get the Pro. I have an iPad Air and ready for a sweet upgrade

Yup, me too, Air out, Pro in, can’t wait!

September everything iOS, October everything Mac.

Me too, I’m really looking forward to it I want to upgrade from my current first gen. They may introduce some new colours and probably bands as well.

So it’s the first Apple Watch from 2015? Same as mine the stainless steel, I don’t have a problem with upgrading you can’t expect the battery to last as long as the iPhone or a Mac considering it’s a smart watch with a small battery. 3 years seems good if you ask me :)

My wallet is very much ready for this, especially how useful the Watch has been for me.

I say we won’t see them until a later date, ( if I say they come out September it won’t happen... I’ll jinx it) lol.

Anyways, Apple is like any other company; they don’t like spending money and want as many of their products ready for school and the holiday. So in a business sense... a September 2+ hour event could happen...

10AM
Intro, Home-Pod, and Apple Music updates... then Apple Watch, we start with video on how Apple products work so seamlessly with each other; helping so many people. Then we get into the Apple Watch introduction. (All will last 35 mins.)

10:35
iPhone intro (I firmly believe the iPhones will be called iPhone 9, and the OLED are iPhone Pro.)
Federighi will spend 20 minutes on iOS 12 on iPhone Pro/9. All will last for 40 minutes.

11:15
AirPods and AirPower (15 minutes.)

11:30
The One more thing... New iPad Pros. This is highly, highly unlikely but they might do iPads; showing all the bezel-less stuff, new A11 or A12 processor, Face ID, and then reveal the iPad pros will be able to wirelessly charge on the AirPower. (35 minutes.)

12:05pm
Tim comes on stage to go over all the great new products and event finishes at 12:09pm.

OR... I’m crazy. lol
They could show with something like first week October release

I am still trying to fathom what is the real use of the Apple Watch ? If you are not into running, jogging or any sorts of sports ?
Time. :). Notifications, email triage. Weather calendar and currency. My list goes on and had nothing to with fitness. Mainly notifications. Pretty useful gadget me thinks. Plus. It tells the time. Like a WATCH
