Please buy an Android. I doubt I'm alone here in wishing that you get the phone that has been calling you for what feels like forever!

The reason I use an iPhone is mainly because there is no alternative to the iPad in its price range and I prefer using a single OS on both devices.
I have always used Android devices along with my iPhone. I am a fan of tech in general. However when someone insists on not calling a spade a spade it irks me.

I wonder how real this is...

‘iPhone 7s’ dummy model depicts glass back design as rumored for Apple’s new 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch phones

If legit, sure looks like the Galaxy S6. What's with that chrome? I hope that's just the dummy manufacturer's interpretation. There was a rumor a while back that the new iPhone would adopt some classic iPhone design elements. Might that explain the chrome?

This isn't the first time we've heard of the 7S models getting all glass back, if I'm not mistaken. Even if fake, it's a good look at what it could be like.

Either way, hopefully it's true the 7S models will get wireless charging. And I hope that earlier rumor of Apple not activating the feature until a software update after launch isn't true.

Everything is subjective. When opinions are being offered up as fact, it's merely pointed out. I love tech in general and it's a hot sector to invest in, but I've found a hodgepodge of technology doesn't make MY life easier and everyone has their preferences.

When considering that the 8GB/128GB OnePlus 5 I'm typing this on cost me "only" 560€ and is a wicked fast device, a phone costing almost twice as much would have to be simply amazing with no compromises whatsoever. So while I'm not ruling out the possibility, I'd be quite surprised if I got one.

That is very true, so no Note 8 then? Considering it's rumoured price.

Like ALL these iPhone rumours, take with a very very large pinch of salt as apparently the source if this leak has faked stuff before...
I don't trust any of the rumours now because they change every day and conflict with each other all the time. Like apparently some leaker has 'confirmed Apple has killed Touch ID for the iPhone 8', and yet he has no idea why or facts to back it up.......

So be very wary of what's been leaked and wait till Apples event for the truth. As I understand your bank has to approve the security system Apple uses for Apple Pay for it to support the system, and not one leak has emerged about any bank supporting an Apple facial recognition system, so you may be spending over 1100 on a phone with Apple Pay you can't use because your bank doesn't support it and their is no Touch ID...

Yeah as I said, take with VERY large pinchs of salt...

This is totally YMMV stuff. When you say "no compromises", people could easily point to your phone and insist you compromised on wireless charging, water protection, and display. I personally prefer performance over those things but if you value stuff like, say, iris scanning or eco system, I can totally understand why folks would be fine paying a premium for Sammy and Apple stuff.

Yes, there are certain compromises on the OP5. I wasn't saying that there weren't any in this one, but if I were to pay almost twice as much, then the device had better be near perfect.

The screen is great on the Plus 5, and a lower res one I believe means better battery life. It is also waterproof enough to be dropped in the toilet, they just don't advertise it, people on Tou Tube have tested this.

It seems to be a contrary opinion on that regard as despite it being AMOLED and 1080p the OnePlus 5 gets less average SOT than other devices such as the S8 or G6 with either QHD AMOLED or even QHD LED. So whilst in theory it may and should be the case, but in practice it seems other factors (software optimisation for example) may play a more impactful role.

I won't believe Touch ID is gone until I hear it from Apple. Agreed.

New leaks. Seems the FP sensor is indeed located on the back on the iPhone 8.

If this is true, at least they're learning from Samsung's mistake. They're putting it in the right location and following LG and Google instead. I still think they missed an opportunity to put it right into the Apple logo, but oh well.

A rumor says that Samsung won't be rushing the FPS under the display tech, and so it may not show up until the Note 9. If that's the case, I hope they redesign the FPS location on the S9 to something more lower/centered. They got a ton of flack for the S8's location, even though it was all a last minute change. With the S9, there will be even less excuses. They need to redesign the innards.

Bleh it would have been better on the power button. The only question left is what the heck the function bar will end up being.

My hopes for the function bar are software keys that offer a more consistent navigation experience for iOS, ala Android's software keys.

Something like the third example below. The home button can get smaller, too, now that it's not physical. With the less bezels, you'll still get more screen real estate. And then hopefully even more so when Apple's ready to introduce a Plus model from the iPhone 8 design.

MKBHD mock up

That prospective design is pretty nice, although I think it'll look much nice with a black front bezel.

And while I'm still fairly certain I'll be skipping this generation of the iPhone, the prospects of it continuing to have a TouchID sensor, even if it's on the back instead of under the display, have me feeling better overall about the phone. I'm certainly curious to see how navigation changes the omission of the physical home button and implementation of the rumored function bar.
