Yeah I'm just not having any success justifying €1349 anytime soon...

Seriously I could in all likelihood buy the V30 and an S8 from eGlobal and still have cash in my pocket by comparison.

The X looks an amazing iPhone but that price is too much of a barrier for me to get over regardless of being able to afford it, it's more a case of not being able to justify it. Heck even subsidised on a carrier contract you would be looking at €700-800 upfront here (the cost of another phone off contract) and still be stuck on a 24 month tariff paying back the additional cost in your plan. It's just crazy where prices have gone.

You know, this is how you always start out first. You resist. ;)

I don't understand how Phil Schiller can say "all new design for iPhone 8" with a straight face..
Who is he trying to fool? I don't like him insulting peoples intelligence.

All new design, unapologetically the same. :p

They are still the best iteration of this three year old design. Easily better than the ugly 6/6S, and an improvement to the 7. Glass back FTW.

Too bad it's fake wireless charging since there's still a wire involved.
Lol, remember how we Android users were told that Apple would revolutionise wireless charging some months back? Hilarious how it's come to bring pretty much all things we have had in the last few years.

Bless them for trying.

Hopefully next year they will make an iPhone X that doesn't ruin video viewing with a stupid notch. Nice one Apple for going full retard even more so than Essential on that 1.

In all seriousness, I still don't get this. Is there anything out there from Apple explaining their decision on this? Nevermind about symmetry or not, the "ears" are kind of distracting during full video playback. Look at this screen straight from the keynote:

I agree. They did us all a favor. I have several wireless chargers that I want to use with the iPhone 8+ and iPhone 10

Yep, I also have some spare Qi chargers in the closet, and if I end up getting the 8 or the plus model, I'll take them back into use. I might also fix a hole in my desk by enlarging it enough to fit one of the table-mounted IKEA Qi chargers there :)

Well, I'm getting the new Apple watch.

As for the phone. That will all depend on at&t. If they have some good deals in November I'll pick it up. If not, I'll make do with my essential and iPhone 7 combo until next year when touch id comes back.

No the worst was when Tim said that the iPhone X would be setting the direction for technology for the next 10 years. Seriously how can you set the pace when everything you have you've copied form other places.

Don’t hold your breath for that. I doubt we’ll see Touch ID on any new models going forward.

Apple never backpedals on features. That would be tantamount to admitting it’s better than Face ID.

I wonder what Rene Ritchie will have to say.
[doublepost=1505250843][/doublepost]
Oh, I know. ;) We're going to hear a very different tune about many things, from glass-backs to wireless charging to OLED displays. Yknow, now that these features are all done right.

Face ID though is legit. I'm really looking toward this feature succeeding and pushing the envelope and standard for facial unlock. It works like magic on my S8, and I would love to see it develop and grow.
Well remember that our oled displays are defective. But apple's one is perfect. It is super Retina HD after all.

But I'm sure they are still working on getting Touch ID under the display. But yes they have boxed themselves into a corner by removing it. Samsung still have it on the back so when they figure out how to get it under the display it won't be a problem selling it. Particularly when they have been touting having a combination of locking methods.

Devs can avoid this and black out the ears. I spent a few minutes looking at the design suggestions Apple put up for the X. One thing is certain, Apple is pushing devs to NOT black out the ears, this kind of stupidity sounds like Ive for sure. Also there are safe zones the apps content should fall into, and that makes the content not much larger than on a 7/8 where the content can go farther out. Lastly there is a permanent bar/indicator for the bottom swipe, it can be hid but Apple encourages it to not be hid unless it's a real passive activity like watching video. I'm not sure when Apple users became so utterly stupid to need a permanent reminder of where to swipe up.

Sadly the Apple Watch with Cellular isn't going to be released here this year or anytime soon otherwise I may have been very tempted myself.

Yeah like the Samsung upright charger they released last year with the Note 7, very nice charger. I can't deal with a flat charger, it's better if the phone is angled up IMO.
[doublepost=1505251157][/doublepost]Another caveat, I'm assuming face ID won't work with sunglasses? That would royally suck if I had to take my glasses off every single time I turned my iPhone on.

Meh, I'm not tempted to upgrade from my series 2. I just can't see shouting into a watch, and I have my phone with me 100% of the time anyhow. I don't think you are missing much.

So, serious question, how is the iPhone X better than S8.

No bottom bezel, no curved edges, combination top bezel/status bar. 18:9 is at least slightly less moronic than 18.5:9. I'm not sure about the other stats like display and camera.

But really it just boils down to software at this point, which OS do you prefer? You can't go wrong with either phone.

iOS. This forum, and others like it, kind of skew perspective on these things. For most of the public, it's not a toss up between an Android device and an iPhone. They usually use one or the other.

I don’t think they are working on it anymore. If Face ID works as seemlessly, why bother? Adding back some form of Touch ID just means added costs and another redesign to make room for the Touch ID hardware. And what’s the benefit?

I think Touch ID disappears when Apple no longer sells the iPhone 8 (and maybe a redesigned SE model if it’s released next year).

It seems I prefer Android on the phone and iOS on the tablet these days. Also, I like the curves of the S8 Plus.

This might sound a bit insane but the side bezels on the X looked a little thicker than I was expecting.

I meant hardware. iOS needs a stronger processor to run as well as Android these days.
