I predict the prices of 2018 iPhone flagships -- basically the sequels to the iPhone X -- will be more readily available, will be available in two sizes (a Plus model), and will be more affordable than the current price of the single iPhone X model.

We all know Apple charges a particularly high premium for first generation new technology. Then the subsequent generations' prices come down to something a tiny bit more manageable.

Just checking, you're aware you can tap the Note 8 home button without applying pressure, right? The pressure sensitive home button is only there for when the home button icon isn't lit up, like when you're in full screen games/videos, etc., or when the device is sleeping.

yeah I noticed that. My issue was when I was inside an app and wanted to go back home or choose another app. I'm just used to my iPhone where you click twice to see the running app list. I'm sure Samsung has its own set of features I have to get used to. But man I will miss the physical home button, and that goes for the iPhone X as well. Although the X's side button works as a home button I believe, I thought I read that somewhere. Maybe the N8's Bixby button can be remapped to be a home button?

from what I saw in the keynote....the side button doesn't act as a home button. But if you press it t it will bring you to the recent apps screen. It also does the things below

It's a shame Apple isn't adopting a faster way to launch into the camera.
Just raise to wake screen, swipe left.

Don't have to authenticate anything.

So literally 1 motion of picking up the phone or raising it and 1 swipe left on the screen

Compared to 1 motion of picking up the phone and 2 presses of a button

Give or take the amount of effort to achieve either is compareable.

So the side button activates Siri from what I gather. Not that matters don't use it much anyway. Good for alarms though

But even when you're in any app? I can quick launch into the camera from anywhere/anytime with double-tap on the power button. In those instances on the iPhone, the quickest way I'm aware of is through CC or just going home to find the Camera app.

The power button is always there. When you don't want to miss a moment, I've found that feature invaluable. Apple just finds Apple Pay more important.

Someone made a good point recently. Basically stating that all those features came out at different times on difference phones.

Apple takes them, polishes them and puts it into one Phone.

You could also swipe down to notification and swipe left from there and do that whilst in any app to launch camera.

Just wondering with iPhone can you press the volume up button to answer call like in s8?

Another reason to stay with iPhone, the physical mute button. Yeah I know it sounds kind of dumb, but for those times when I absolutely need to know my phone is off I can just stick my hand in my pocket and flip that switch. Android always is kind of weird where you are not 100% sure all sound sources are off. I'm excited to see they retained it on the X.

Yea sometimes they go overboard, but their implementation is usually better.
That used to be true in the past but as the years go by , its getting harder and harder for them to do that. Just look at the X. Its brightness is half the Note 8 or at best 3/4th. Wireless charging is already there on almost every Android. So is dual cameras and bezelless design. The Note 8 actually looks better to me because of no notch so there is no interference while viewing content.

The only possible place where the iPhone X may have the edge is FaceID but seeing how it failed I have my doubts about that too. Looking at that $1000+ price on the X I think Apple has forgotten how good the Android phones are lately because their phone is amongst the best but not the best. The major aspect its got going for it is the ecosystem. As a phone on its own merit it doesn't really beat all of them in all areas. I don't really see what unique feature they actually implemented on the 8 which the competition doesn't have.

I find that handy, too, on my iPhone, but also not necessary. It's not that hard to change or keep track of Android's sound profiles (something notably missing in stock Android). Ironically, with the physical toggle on the iPhone, sometimes it gets accidentally moved to Ringer.

Can you name a few? Maybe like wireless charging where they demonstrated charging more than one device at a time. Insinuating only their charger (that is not yet available) can do that. But Qi enabled wireless chargers with this ability has been for sale for years..... Or super retina display the was made by Samsung and probably not upto the Note 8 display also made by Samsung.

How did Face ID fail? Apple explained what happened. It’s not even out yet.

In the case of X the Face ID may be better then what’s been out.

Touch ID was ahead of FP scanners at the time of release.

Other things are catch up for sure, like display and wireless charging.

I love that on my iPhone too. I don't why Android OEMs don't adopt this feature. OPO has had it in all of their phones too.

Is FaceID better than Iris scanning? they do the same thing? Both are used for mobile payments and require the same effort to use them.

Well Apple's obviously not going to come out with a statement saying it failed. If you will observe that scene closely it failed twice and asked for the code. This guy explains it nicely by freezing the exact moments(I didn't even notice one at first) and it was made after Apple issued its statement.

There's really no point in further discussing this topic. Let the final product and Face ID experience speak for itself. That doesn't mean it'll necessarily be good or bad -- the point is, what happened on stage could have been a number of things, like pre-production unit/software, so it's really rather moot. Besides, when he went to pick up his backup iPhone X, Face ID worked perfectly. Ditto of video impressions of the Apple reps demo-ing it during the hands-on event.

It really is moot to discuss this further with those that just want to nail Apple on a presentation goof.

If and when Face ID is finalized and out, and then there are failures in reviews/user feedback, then we can gripe that Apple failed. Until then, Face ID remains incredibly promising, sounds and looks impressive, and is the one feature that is anywhere close to leapfrogging other tech.

Very interesting about sweat might be the reason FaceID failed the first time. He even knows exactly what to do to make it work by wiping the sweat away.....
