I love Fortnite, but still think what Epic did is stupid. (Source, my pfp has a Fortnite skin in it)
Not at all! I would also laugh if someone decided to open up their MacBook, tinker around, and complain how Apple won't fix their mistakes. You voided your warranty.
If you are going to load alternate app stores with zero security, expect zero care from Apple. You know the risk when you download an alternate, shady web store with shady apps.
I actually love games, and Fortnite is a pretty good one. I'm really not a fan of Epic's CEO, because he's going about his quest to open iOS (also something I wouldn't mind) in the dumbest way possible. If there's a way to get him to stop being so insanely obtuse about his supposed "right" to operate within Apple's store in whatever way he wants, great. Let's get that done.A bit sad attitude to have because you don’t like a company then I should crash & burn.
If you don’t like the product don’t use them
imagine if microsoft could just bar a developer from releasing programs on a widely used general computing device that almost everyone depends on to function in the modern world…
only apple can do that 😌
Apple will not deal with any issues if you go outside the App Store. Why should they?In what world can you compare tinkering with the inside of a computer to installing a freaking app? Jesus lol.
Is there any evidence which suggests Apple will void the warranties of people who download apps outside the app store? Have they denied service to people who have jailbroken?
I’ve had my phone repaired by Apple for hardware issues, even though I had jailbroke previously.
And Apple shouldn’t help them. They decided they wanted to go outside of Apple’s ecosystem, that’s on them.
He just accepted 1.5 billion from Disney for 10% of the company due to how poorly they have been doing. If Tim didn't own such a large portion of Epic he would have been fired already (same with the likes of Musk - which is likely coming sooner rather than later)I actually love games, and Fortnite is a pretty good one. Well, we could start off with the fact that installing third party apps won’t void your warranty. Apple has an obligation to honor their warranty.Apple will not deal with any issues if you go outside the App Store. Why should they?
The player base is bigger now and they keep breaking records. The game got more concurrent players than it did during its last peak in 2018-2019. I came back to the game too, it’s a lot of fun.
Epic is more than just Fortnite. A lot of game developers/cgi artist relies on Epic's Unreal Engine.Does anyone still care about Epic Games?
No, they have no obligation to help any users with any problems relating to installing apps outside of the iOS store.Well, we could start off with the fact that installing third party apps won’t void your warranty. Apple has an obligation to honor their warranty.

I've never heard of an app bricking a phone.🙄 The only way to brick your iPhone is if you mess with the firmware, ie try to jailbreak (1000% your fault🤨) or screw up during an update or bleeding edge update😲.I'll be laughing at posts by people with bricked iPhones crying Apple won't help them.
No the point I’m making epic & Fortnite are still getting new customers even after being kicked off the mighty AppleWhich helps Epic how with Apple? He is not going to be playing on his iPhone or iPad which ones of millions were doing until Tim Sweeny decided to break the rules and ruin it for all Apple users.
Yet they are still gaining new customers like I said before. They do not have an App Store at all on iOS as of right now. When they do, it'll only be in Europe and you'll have to convince those folks to even download an epic store to get Fortnite. The base of users went from 100% of all Apple users to less than 1%. Meanwhile, Epic lost out of 4 years of VBUCK sales on the billions of IOS devices.

Of course they will because you are a customer and all they will do is reinstall iOS.Apple will not deal with any issues if you go outside the App Store. Why should they?
So you define "poorly" as a game with 650 million registered players and $4.5 billion in revenue? He just accepted 1.5 billion from Disney for 10% of the company due to how poorly they have been doing. If Tim didn't own such a large portion of Epic he would have been fired already (same with the likes of Musk - which is likely coming sooner rather than later)
Why should Apple be forced to fix something that wasn’t vetted by them? This is parody, right?

The Mac never had an App Store until very late in its lifespan. iPhone is the exact opposite.so many strange comments defending Apple and talking bad about Epic. I wonder, would you guys defend Apple if they did the same to Mac and completely lock it down? I would love to see that - I'd assume that most of you would change the tune immediately. How hypocritical

For those that care:
In August 2020, Fortnite was possibly at it's biggest point with the launch of a new season featuring some of the biggest Marvel characters (also at a time when Marvel - the MCU - was at its biggest). This is the moment that Epic played their hand. I really think they thought the power of both Fortnite and Marvel would compel Apple to fold.
It did not.
There were minor victories for Epic along the way that some would say benefit developers, but even more so smaller developers.
I cannot imagine how much money Epic left on the table by pulling out of the App Store at that moment. Crazy.
