Dear Friends in the other thread.

1. Buy green coffee.
2. Roast it.
3. Pull a wonderful espresso.
4. Drink.

Here's on reason why:

To be fair to those who don't wish to roast...;)

1. Buy freshly roasted (less that two weeks post roasting) premium beans.
2. Grind only what is needed immediately prior to production.
3. Pull wonderful espresso or other production method coffee.
4. Drink and enjoy.

Avoid SB for reasons in post above...and also because the coffee is stale, over roasted, and awful!

Wow, and to think I used to drink that stuff long before I was 'educated' on such matters.

Last night I finished roasting up the last 300g of my Rwanda Gakende Ruli, and I'm looking for some recommendations on what green beans I should order next from SM's.

Thoughts?

Although I suspect I already know what our flat topped friend will say....than man's obsession with Liquid Amber can't be healthy...

Actually, flat top suggests Moka Kadir Blend. I also enjoy Espresso Monkey Blend, and New Classic Espresso Blend. The latter two have been in my rotation (along with LA) for a long time, to which I have now added Moka Kadir Blend...which is a powerhouse!

Nyaaah,,,Nyaaah...faked you out!:p

Well I went with 2 lbs Moka Kadir and 2 lbs of the Ethiopiques.

Next week ought to be fun.

You're going to have a lot of fun!

A bit of learning ahead...but some excellent espresso.

And, of course, if any problems arise, or questions need answering...you can count on the nut cases here to offer whatever help is needed.:D

Here's to hoping they roast well in my popper. I had one batch of Brazillian beans that refused to get to first crack. But then I tried the Rwandan beans, and they were quite happy to roast up as I wanted.

I don't know what kind of popper you are using, and I'm sure that you have looked these over...but on the outside chance that you haven't, here are a couple of stovetop poppers from Sweet Marias. Knowing that SM only sells stuff that they have tested, I thought I would pass it along.

I'm using one of the air poppers that they have listed. ;)

I'd consider a stovetop roaster, but my place isn't particularly well ventilated. And I understand those produce more smoke as the chaff has nowhere to go...

You got a problem with left hands? That's actually very perceptive of you. I can't say more now, but this goes right to the very top! Now, excuse me, I have a John Birch Society meeting to attend....

Actually, I'm left handed. I only use that term to avoid the mockery attendant to being a sinistral.

I hear lefties are lynched as a part of those meetings!

Oh shoot. Well maybe I can cut it with some Folgers Crystals to try and salvage the order.

What I want to know is how they get them so beautiful and shiny!
