Arh, I see. So that was what happened. Thanks for clarifying.

I'll do be interested how you would find the remaining two options.

Though I will still suggest the iphone 15 plus over 15 anyday. As I do not think the inconsistent wave in the smaller variant is for not everyone.

At least the iphone 15 plus is consistent in this regard.
Yeah I did a lot of thinking and more handling of my daughter’s 15 and I will go with the 15 Plus. I want the larger display and the beefier battery. On rare occasions I have ended up doing emergency vigils at urgent care when my mom has gotten sick and it’s not always easy to charge my phones in those situations.

And I don’t want to be messing around with the inconsistency of the smaller display’s waves.

I’m on my 15 Pro Max just to make this post and check the forum before I go to bed.

I am now certain I am seeing horizontal grey bands on the display. They are as far apart as the lines of text are.

I see them even on my home page. I noticed them on day one but was wondering if it’s something I’ve always seen but just dismissed and was only noting them because I was so conscious of my sensitivity. But no, they’re really a feature of the display of this phone. I didn’t see them on my other phones.

Nobody else sees them. They are perfectly horizontal and do not move up or down. I thought they might be after images from the lines of text. But they’re everywhere! Even on wide clear screens.

What on earth am I seeing? 🤪

Is the 15 Plus very similar to the 14 Plus in regards to this wave consistency? I remember people last year mentioning that of the 4 then, the 14 Plus also seemed to be the best/safest for those who were sensitive.
Theoretically yes it should be if similar wave patterns are observed.

For instance, based on DxOranking testing the iphone 15 pro max is similar to last year's 14 p max, though with a few very subtle / minor tweaks that might still show some subjective improvements (the subjective word is used here because actual perception of pain is not measureable via tools) in the real world.

If we were to follow this pattern, the same could be said about the iphone 15 plus.

Subjective speaking, if I were not as sensitive I'll go with the iPhone 15 plus myself. I do love the form factor and the camera.

Also personally, I found the iPhone 15 plus's main camera to be much more natural looking than the pro model's.

That is because for this year, Apple chose to only upgrade the main lens in the non-pro models, while giving the "periscope lens" hardware to the pro max model.

Thus the remaining non-pro models did not get the updated camera lens hardware upgrade in the main cam.

I did spent the most time with the iphone 15 Plus at the Apple store btw. Subjectively speaking again, the camera is such a joy to use.

As far as what you have visually saw with the horizontal grey bands on the display, it is unlikely the flicker caused by panels. If it is indeed flicker, the entire screen brightness will subtly flicker, rather than to show up as bandings artifacts. As these can only be captured via the camera's rolling shutter.

If you are able to see it visually pulsing, then it is more likely that you were able to percieve the flicker.

Personally, I would believe that it is likely a result of a soon to be faulty panel. As Apple engineers today have taken efforts to ensure that flickering does not go below 40 hertz where we'll see it visually flickering anyway etc .

I do have an iphone 7 plus today that suddenly occasionally shows grey lines flashing along the screen. Indeed after a month the screen panel starts flashing entirely black periodically.

I do think if this is much of a concern, changing to the iphone 15 plus might indeed still the better option for you. As you have mentioned, the inconsistency of the iphone 15 smaller display’s waves is something you might not be able to handle well with.

I also cannot use the Pro iPads anymore but feel OK with the 9. I've not tried the 10 and the UK price hike left me not wanting to invest. The 2020 iPad Pro and onwards give me strained, gritty eyes which progressively feel worse over the days I continue to use them. I also get the queasy unease feeling. I haven't tried the M2 11" but don't imagine it's any better than M1 11". The Mini 6 was the same and the jelly scroll is very obvious to me.

The 12.9" with mini led makes my eyes screwy and I cannot focus correctly, it feels alot like a torch is being blasted across my vision. I had this same sensation when using the iPhone 11 several years ago but the model I have been using this year has been fine 🤷‍♂️.
I had that exact same feeling with my iPhone 11 form a few years ago. My newer 11 looks lovely but I still get the white shimmer that blinds my left eye and even a bit of my right eye eventually

Why not 7 Plus or 8 Plus? If my 7 plus hadn't died I'd still be using it just for the higher ppi.
My dad had an 8 Plus. He passed away and we got his phone. It’s not updated to the latest software. My husband is trying not to let it update I forget why but he’s afraid of losing access to things we need on that phone to help my mom. Anyway I took a look at it a few months ago and couldn’t focus on it. It was horrible. Nothing was wrong with the display. My eyes just refused to work with it. Honestly what the heck? I bought that phone for him. He was on Verizon and I sold my At&T 8 Plus to buy that phone for him. I remember looking at it many times.

I know he updated it while alive. Something went kerflooey somewhere along the line. I’d rather use OLED than Apple LCD anymore.

Yeah I’m going to get rid of the 15 Pro Max. I got some beautiful shots with that camera but I got some weird ones, too. It may not be completely up to snuff. However, it does not overheat!

My husband continues to get great photos and is loving his 15 Pro Max. I’m happy. He’s worked ridiculously hard for years and doesn’t have time to enjoy much. I’m happy he’s loving his new iPhone.

Almost a week has passed and I can still use the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
I've even had 120 Hz enabled for 2 days, unbelievable.
I read on the iPhone for 45 minutes straight today with no complaints.
In the end, with the iPhone 13/14 Pro Max, I couldn't even read for 5 minutes without any complaints.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is a big improvement for me, I can definitely say that.
That would have been unimaginable with the iPhone 13/14 Pro Max.
Apple is definitely on the right track. Love my iPhone 15 Pro Max❤️

Better than 12 pro ?
I can't say that exactly.
But I would say, better not under any circumstances,
because I didn't have any problems with the iPhone 12 Pro.
But the technical step alone is of course a very big one.
It's really fun to be able to use a current iPhone again.
Apple does seem to care at all, otherwise they wouldn't be working on compatibility.

I use the iPhone normally, without any extra settings.
RWP is off, automatic brightness and 120 Hz are on. Fits so far.
Wow! Thats amazing. I could use the iphone 14 pro last year with RWP and witouth promotion on. After 30-45 min my eyes would get tired a little bit. Thats why i sold it. I thought better luck next year, because i aslo want to use a phone witouth turning RWP on

I’ve had an iPhone 14 for a year now after finally upgrading from an iPhone 11 because the 14 didn’t give me migraines.

But I decided to try a 15 Pro because I wanted a Pro phone. I’ve had the 15 Pro for a week and while it’s not as bad as the X, 13 and 14 Pro for me it is causing these very slight migraines that I haven’t had in a very long time.

Going back to my 14 and it’s not a bad phone at all. The weight is so nice. It’s just missing ProMotion and better cameras for me really.

I’ll give the 15 Pro one last try this weekend before potentially returning it.

If anything the 15 Pro has made me appreciate my 14 so much. It’s great that at least one OLED iPhone works for me.

Anyone having success with 15 plus ?

iPhone 12 Pro at least for me it’s the best experience i had since X. Not 100% pain free but as soon as i stop working on it symptoms gradually go away.

Glad to hear the 14 works so well for you!
It's amazing how many reports I've seen of people who had good luck with 14 and 14 Plus but couldn't really use any others.

The 14 is definitely a great phone!

Notebookcheck has now listed the iPhone 15 Pro Max on his PWM ranking list. Also with 240 Hz
