Yes, I do it. You can use the Files app but my preference is FileBrowser Pro (I use it for general file mgmt on my iPP, Mini 6, & iPhone 12 Pro Max).

Do you mean FileBrowser Professional? Is the Document Manager also useful?

Thanks. They seem to be offering a bundle. Same price whether I opt for FileBrowser Professional or FileBrower Professional + FileBrowser - Document Manager.

I reran my copy test on my M1 12.9 with 15.2 today. I copied 165 Canon RAW images stored in the Files app to a 500GB USB-C Samsung T-5 exFAT-formatted SSD attached to the iPad. On disconnection of the SSD and connecting it to my Win11 laptop, of the 165 copied images, 6 were corrupt and unreadable. I reran the same test but did the copy to the SSD using FileBrowser Pro; none of the images were corrupted.

So FileBrowser Pro did something on top of the Apple File app to prevent the corruptions?

I copied the files from the Files app to FileBrowser's local storage and then copied to the SSD from there; the Files app was not involved at all with that copy action to the SSD.

Yes, this -

https://www.stratospherix.com/products/filebrowserprofessional/

FileBrowser Document Manager is another one of their products with fewer functions. They're described well here (that's the Basic version) -

https://www.stratospherix.com/products/comparison.php

Am I correct that there is no need to get the bundle (2 apps at the same cost) as FileBrowser Professional actually includes FileBrowser Document Manager already? Don't know why they have the bundle.

I think if you already bought the regular FileBrowser, buying the bundle gets you a discount on the Pro version.

Also, having both may be useful for split view.

Do you guys and ladies give FileBrowser Pro access to your local network? I think Apple suggested that if we don't know for sure, don't give access to the app. I plan to mainly share files between my iPad and Windows PC. I can connect them via a thunderbolt cable.

When I denied access to local network and chose manual. It asked me what kind of devices I want to connect to. I chose PC and it asks me user name and password. Will such information be sent to the developer?

Yes, I connect to multiple network devices with it. Info is not sent to the developer.

Thanks.

After installation of both apps, I noticed that in the middle top of the home screen (the place that is used to display a picture) became dark gray with no contents indicated. Double clicking on it opened Photo but it says that there is no contents.

Also, within the home screen, on the right of the clock, there is Memo icon with a yellow banner and a white folder icon on the top left. Now it is empty and replaced by a message of not being able to use the folder. When I clicked on it, the contents were shown. They just don’t show up on the Home Screen anymore.

When I clicked File Browser Pro and on the left, it lists my private file, my iPad, photo library, slideshow, file sync, iCloud. In my private file, I see Welcome.pdf. However, clicking on other options does not show anything. In the case of photo library, there are lots of folders listed. Even though I clicked on "all photos", nothing was shown.

Perhaps these are caused by some kind of permission settings that do not allow the Home Screen to access the information? Anybody knows how to fix these?

I got a replacement iPad. After setting it up manually, the home screen shows up. I guess somehow some settings got transferred to the new iPad after I entered my Apple ID information.

Just like before, no photo shows up. Instead, there is a big gray box in the top center. When I double tapped on the big gray box, it says "No Content. Photos scans your library to offer content curated For You Connect your iPad to power overnight to continue scanning." Before I installed FileBrowser Pro and the FileBrowser Document Manager, photo showed up there without issue. After installation, it became like this. Before I got the replacement, I also connected my iPad to power overnight but it does not fix the issue.

Similarly, on the icon between the clock and the big grayed box, it says 'Folder No Longer Available'. When I clicked on it, some of my memo notes are there. They were shown before installation of the two File Browser apps but not anymore.

Anybody knows how to fix these?

Not really understanding what you are seeing. You say "no photo shows up" - where? What app are you trying to use to display the photo?

No specific app. Just the default iPad OS 15 home screen like the one shown under "How to hide Home Screen pages". In that example, that have 'Joke's Treehouse" under Notes. In my case, it only shows the white folder symbol with "Folder No Longer Available". In that example, it shows a dog. In my case, it is a big grey square with "No content available" written on it.

I think these iPhone users have similar issue in regard to the photo.

That first link shows normal in Safari on my 12.9 Pro, 15.2.

I am not sure why you mentioned Safari. The problem is on the home screen. When I pressed and held for a second or two, I got: Edit Stack, Edit Home Screen, Remove Stack. If I chose Edit Stack, I have: grey box with four round corners and 'No content available' written at the bottom. If I slide down, it showed map, and Top Stories.

I misunderstood. In this case, I long press a stacked widget and then the menu pops up and I do not see any grey box with No Content Available.

Maybe I did something wrong when I first used File Browser Pro. For example, set some access permissions incorrectly by mistake.

Not sure how FB Pro has anything to do with this issue. I've been using it on multiple devices for some time and not encountered any problems. Have you tried removing the app and replicating the problem?

I started having these two issues after running FB Pro the first time. Anyway, Apple replaced my iPad due to other issue. I did a manual setup on this device and got the same issues. I have not even installed FB Pro yet. That makes me think that when I first used it on the previous iPad, perhaps I set file access permissions incorrectly so the widgets cannot access the files/data. Then, somehow the settings got associated with my Apple ID and carried to the new iPad.

I have not seen any permissions that FileBrowser has that are applicable outside of the bounds of the app itself.

Thanks. For strange reason, a photo suddenly showed up on my home screen. Problem solved.

Could you please clarify the following?

In regard to FB Pro. I clicked on ‘On My iPad’ in an attempt to see all the user and demo files on my iPad. However, the screen states ‘This folder can be assessed from the Files app by selecting On My iPad and then FireBrowser Pro. To access folders that belong to other apps, tap 'Add Location' on the home screen and choose 'App Folder' to map one directly into FileBrowser Pro.’ What does that mean? I heard that Apple’s File app does not show all the files on my iPad as iPad has no Mac/Windows-like file system. That is why I bought FireBrowser Pro. Why it refers me back to use the stock Apple's app. Am I missing something?

I also clicked the Home icon and ‘Add Location’. Then I chose ‘App Folder’ and ‘Select Location,. Next I clicked ‘Affinity Designer’, Done and save. However when I clicked on that newly created folder, it is empty and not showing any demo nor user created files. Isn’t this the method to access all demo and user created files related to Affinity Designer? If not, how to access those files?

Not sure if it is an iOS 15 bug. Yesterday I came across a youtube video. The guy is able to see many folders and files by just going to the Files app and click 'On My iPad'. However, it does not work in my case:

Well, I think you are doing it wrong. You do not need to Add Location… you were on the right track to begin with. Going into the On My iPad folder in FBPro app to add a folder. That’s if you want to work within the FBPro app.

I also clicked the Home icon and ‘Add Location’. Then I chose ‘App Folder’ and ‘Select Location,. Next I clicked ‘Affinity Designer’, Done and save. Again… not sure why you are choosing Add Location. Affinity Designer already has a place within the app to access their files… you do not need FBPro app for that.

Yes, I do this daily. I create and manage folders/files from the Files App. There’s no iOS 15 bug that prevents me from doing so. I use both FB and Files App in tandem.. Files App allows me to go between various 3rd party apps. Whereas FB gives me more versatility in terms of features.

Thanks. So what shall I do now? I have deleted that "Affinity Designer Documents" folder from Home of FB Pro.
