Those keynotes are pretty much all marketing BS. I'm curious where else Apple says this.

You're still making this argument about a x.0 software release. There are already reports that 9.1 beta is much faster.
Fine, lets look at Apple's own website.

The bold part,
It will still re-index because Apple makes changes to Spotlight search with each iOS update.

When iOS 8 GM was out last year, I complained bitterly because it was truly horrible.
But iOS 9 GM is definitely not laggy in any way. I am using 5S btw.

It's almost same as 8.4.1 that I hardly notice any difference.

Weather app is NOT stuttery like it was in 8.4.1 and that is a win for me. I fresh installed from DFU restore and set my phone as new.

However on iPad Air 2, Safari hangs when switching to private browsing mode. It happened in all developer betas and it is still happening.

You're like the only person that's said that 9.0 GM is even remotely good on the 5s.

Exactly. Still the most polished iOS Apple has ever produced.

iOS 7/8/9 has no excuses, they are supposed to build off everything they've learned since 2007.

Anything short of what you experienced on that 3-year-old device will cause me to complain. People so quickly forget and accept a delay, stutter or lag as the new normal. Sad, really.
I remember how iOS 6 ran sooooo smooth on my iPod touch 5th generation. Best release for A5 devices.

That has dramatically changed with iOS 7 and above on it.

iOS 8.4.1 is an absolute delight on my 5s.

9.0 GM apparently isn't good on the 5s (just like every past beta on it). Not upgrading for sure.

I don't know what the deal is with the 5S honestly.
I don't either.

It's like Apple isn't focusing on the 5s anymore.

Seriously. We've gone through 5 betas and now a GM release and still no significant improvement in performance or battery life to even compare it to 8.4.1.

And no, this wasn't the case with iOS 8 betas last year.

I'd fire whoever is behind iOS 9 on the 5s, quite frankly.

It runs fine on my 5S, I haven't experienced any stutter or lag. My problem was that until the GM, I couldn't consistently add music to my phone, but it seems the GM has fixed that.

So the A8 is bad at pushing 1080p, but the A7 was pushing 2048 x 1536. >_>; The first Air didn't get an X chip.

Huh. Good point.

The issue may be iOS oriented then, or maybe it has to do with the GPU clock rate on the A8.

I believe the iPads have higher clock rates even if they have the same chips as the iPhones.

I compared my iPhone 6 with iOS 9.1 beta to my wife's iPhone 6 with 8.4.1. I was unable to tell a difference in speed. They both work great. I could however, tell a difference between iOS PB 3 and 8.4.1 on the same devices.
iOS 9.1 beta has also made my iPad 4 run much better since the betas.

Move Control Center up and down and tell me if it lags.

It does.

If anything, and I'm not seeing any issues on my 6+ that I didn't see when I had an Air 2 (spotlight, for example), it's software.

Probably partly because many of those without issues don't really bother posting about not having issues (and that's assuming they are even here on the forums all that much).

All the time? Impacts the use noticeably? Most people would notice or let alone care?

All that is to say there are some visual glitches in places, and it would be good to fix them, but they are basically trivial level issues, as they aren't actually issues for most.

I would imagine the dumb ones that say what they want make it to air...am I close?

Most people are conditioned to believe things others tell them. Apple says its better, most on this forum will default to that opinion unless something is GLARINGLY wrong.

I personally don't care either way. Which is why I quickly call out BS when I see it.

Ah, the whole "I'm right and everyone else is an Apple sheep" line. Quite popular on MacRumors.

I think this forum has trained people to look for lag as opposed to just enjoying their devices.

Seriously, it's now to the point where even a single frame drop on one animation is enough to have people seeing red. Admittedly, I used to care greatly about this kind of thing- I was so unbelievably irritated at iOS 4.3 on the iPhone 4 because the app opening animation was laggy on screens with four full rows of apps. I spent weeks looking for solutions, and found nothing.

Since then, I've learned to just enjoy my phone for what it is. Smoothness matters, don't get me wrong. I love it when updates actually make my phone feel faster. But there are so many more important things in life to get angry about.

Lag on the 3d generation iPad but I expected as much. Its getting to be an antiquated device.

To be honest though, I feel sorry for those who can't see the lag. For example, I see GTA 5 very smooth when I play online on my ps3 even though it's not.

This is what I keep saying that people seem to ignore. 9.1 PB1 is much quicker than 9.0GM

I've had the iPad Air for almost 2 years now and it never performed great. Even on iOS 7, there were glitches and dropped frames throughout the OS, so no, A7 was never good enough to push those 2048x1536 perfectly. (If Apple had optimized iPad iOS better, it might have been powerful enough, but so far, it hasn't been the case...)

When it impacts you enjoying the device, that's one thing. But I feel like people around here just aren't going to be happy with their device ever.

Weird. Every review I heard and read said it performed really smooth.
