Have you tried turning off the data/cell services when you are so remote that you have no signal? It might help......

Yea sometimes but I work in the oil field so we're talking 16-17 hr days. I'd be without any sort of communication if i kept it off entirely.

Does it make a difference if I'm constantly changing between 3 batteries?

I'm sure it would as long as you calibrate all 3 batteries

Is this actually calibrating the batteries or how the phone reads how much is left? If it's the latter then would I have to do it for all 3?

downloaded the samsung update for the S4 last night..doubt i will move any apps to the SD card as I have over 6GB of space but still nice to know it's an option.

How is performance?

Good question, I assume it's more along the line of software calibration but would still have to calibrate all 3 to get the most accurate reading.

No issues so far..feels abit smoother to be honest. Battery life seems to of increased slightly but tough to measure.

Calibrating the batteries does next to nothing. Any battery life or performance 'increase' you experience is likely the placebo effect at work...

I finally decided to pick up a GS4 yesterday and slapped AOKP on it and my battery life has been outstanding.

awesome! AKOP will doesn't have all the bloatware so your battery life improve even more....

Does aokp have bugs like app force closes, in call audio, Bluetooth, wifi etc? Or anything else?

If not I might pick up a s4. I like the sd slot but I will not tolerate touchwiz for a second. I was going to buy htc one but the 4mp cam is a deal breaker to me (I know about mp not being everything but still). I want stock android and don't live in US so a stable daily driver stock rom would be nice.

Oh and another question, does aokp support the holo light theme from play store? I like white backgrounds in apps and menus.

I am not sure about some of your questions.....it depends on which carrier your are getting your S4 on....
I have AT&T.....the root process and boot loader work around can be found here for my carrier version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2257

Please be careful if you are new to the rom process as you can soft brick your phone easily.....

For those who want a more stock - like phone while retaining some Samsung features like S-Voice or their camera app, Mint Jelly rom plus ktoon kernel is quite the combo.

I am in Canada and all s4 models have unlocked bootloaders here. Also the version available on all three major carriers is exactly the same as AT&T one.

I am not new to ROMs, flashed slimbean and aokp on my s3, aokp on the captivate, and debranded my xperia arc and so on. I just want an aosp rom that will be stable because slimbean on s3 had battery issues when I had it and there were bluetooth and dialer force closing bugs.

Wait for google edition

Once the google edition comes out the bugs should be taken care of on all of the snapdragon 600 versions of the s4. Should run just as bug free as my verizon galaxy nexus does on cm10.1/aokp. Make sure you buy the gt-i9505 and not the gt-i9500 if your buying the unlocked version. AOSP roms like cm10 and aokp do not run nearly as well on the exynos version as they do on the snapdragon 600 version.

The Google version will not have any of the gestures on it. It will have pure android. I can understand not liking touchwiz as i dont use the TW launcher either but all those gestures and features of the camera even on the S4 are TW based and Samsung added things.
You may as well get a Nexus 4 so you will at least get faster updates or get the S4 through a carrier if your want the features. I would at least want all the camera features.

But the Google Edition S4 is the only "Nexus" device with a microSD card slot thus far. That's only if the Xperia Z Google Edition rumours aren't true.

Sticking with apple, broke the tradition of a new iPhone every year when the 4s came out and gote a samsung galaxy. Regretted it and switched back to iPhone 5 when that was released..:)

..but I did like the customisation of android over iOS

I dont think anyone can confirm if the nexus will get updates any faster than the Google editions. I would imagine is being the same since the carrier and manufacture can be skipped.

The point of a 'Google Edition' phone is that it receives the 'Nexus Experience.' That means it is pure AOSP. It will get updates whenever Google releases them. A Nexus 4, Galaxy Nexus or Nexus 7 won't get updates faster than a Nexus S4.

It depends - If google are providing the os for the S4 direct like the Nexus line then you're correct. However I suspect that the OS will be coming from Samsung (ie it's not a Nexus device and therefore Google isn't responsible for porting/testing the os on the device) and therefore there will be a delay.

However the delay should be a lot less than waiting for all the Touchwiz bits that usually get integrated and delays updates.
