Looks good but not good enough to give up my Note 2. Besides, I am sure Samsung is holding back the really good features and specs for the Note 3 as they did with the 2 :)

Even if it is, maybe there will be one person, in this whole wide world, who might find the feature useful (I'm thinking possibly a business man or woman in a meeting who wants to glance at his or her notifications without opening the flip cover and being obvious...). And that one person in the whole wide world would be glad Samsung implemented this so called gimmick.

Just maybe.

So if just one person found it useful, I have no right to express my opinion about the s view cover being gimmicky?

And just maybe there are millions of men and women in the whole wide world who actually love having a 3.5" or 4" screen on the iPhone and are glad Apple keep it that size.

However, that hasn't prevented you from bitching about the iPhone 4" screen on over a few hundred posts in the last year.

How many times have you bitch about the iPhone screen size in the last 2 days? 10 times? 20 times? 30 times? I don't think there is a week that you don't complain about the iPhone screen size. We get it, you don't like 4" and under screens.

The Galaxy S4 is just announced. It's okay for me to express my opinions about it.

At no point in my post did I say you couldn't express your opinion. Only that its possible Samsung had someone in mind when coming up with that feature with the flip cover. How can anyone be so sure they just came up with it to sell accessories? That's all.

Sensitive much?

Why can't you accomplish the same thing with a black background for the lock screen? Or better yet, turn off the gimmicky animated background on Android and use a dark background if you are really concern with battery life.

I used to use dark wallpapers on mine when I had Android phones.

You can accomplish the same thing using a dark background, but like I've said a few times already and you're simply not getting, maybe some people like this case design? It's just preference. I would rather have an S-View window cover than a completely clear cover.

That's why I have an iPhone?

Not a power sucking Android phone with a ton of useless gimmicky features running in the background? Or a power sucking 1080p 5" screen on a phone? Or power sucking quad/octo core processor just so the Android OS doesn't lag?

So if such a feature was available for the iPhone, would you not use it? Obviously this sort of thing wouldn't save much power on an LCD screen because the backlight is either on or off; you can't only turn the backlight on in certain places.

Anything that saves battery is good in my books :)

Anyone who doesn't agree with your opinions must be closed minded? I'm pretty sure you are the one closed minded here.

In my opinion is gimmicky. You don't think it's gimmicky. Fine. Doesn't make me closed minded.

The same applies to you:

1) You don't understand the full facts regarding power consumption of the new S4.
2) Your so closed minded that you would argue just for the sake of arguing.

I've own over half a dozen android devices. Battery life on those android devices sucks, except for the note 2. But the Note 2 is huge with a huge battery.

I don't know anyone with an iPhone who thinks it has a good battery :confused:

I think the iPhone has good battery. I always get through a day, which is all I need from a phone.

Likewise I get through the day with at least 40% left on my battery after using it throughout the day doing various tasks.

My iPhone battery experience has always been solid, unlike my experience with various other smartphones.

Judging by European prices, if they are any indication, the S4 unlocked would be significantly more expensive than the iPhone 5 unlocked in the US of A. Of course, it has more features, but oh the irony.

This will greatly influence my decision to stay with the 5 or not.

In other news, unlocked HTC One is $650 (developer's edition). VERY INTERESTING.

I've owned iphones in the past and always found the battery life to be very good, however my galaxy s3 I would say has slightly better battery life

Well as a student living in a house of 4 (2x iPhone 4s + 2 Galaxy S3s), the S3s clearly have a longer lifespan so it confuses me when people praise the iPhone's battery life

Don't go on European pricing for indication of US pricing.

The 32gb Silver sim free model is €600 ($785) compared to the sim free sim unlocked / bootloader unlocked 64gb dev edition which as you say is $650

No surprises on the UK pricing, £500 is basically the standard price for any new flagship smartphone.
