Question: Have there been a lot of reports of the S3's home button failing? Just curious.

Nope. Not as a very common one anyways.

As for price, I don't think Samsung wants commercial suicide by pricing their device higher than iPhone 5 and having people make it easy to choose a cheaper iPhone 5 instead.

If GSMArena is right, it'll be upwards of $580.

That would be a great price if they could sell unlocked at close to that price point.

I work for the geeksquad, the vast majority of s3's I get are just for cracked screens, par for course for cellphones. Haven't seen an unusual number of home button issues, in fact I've seen more iPhones with home button problems then s3's.

Really?... for me is good.

The 12 hour battery life from 8 am to 8 pm you say your iPhone gives you actually isn't that good compared to my Samsung Galaxy Note 2. For a regular day for me, if I unplug my Note 2 from the charger at 8 am, I would still have at least 95% battery life at 8 pm if I haven't been using my phone during work. And this is with several background apps running on my Note 2. If I were to make calls, text, and surf the web during lunch and after work, by 8 pm, I would still be around 80%.

Im calling absolute BS on this one. Unless your phone uses a fuel cell or has a solar panel or external battery pack attached. Its just not possible. You're fibbing.

why not? standby for my note2 drops one percent every 2 hours with email sync and quite a few widgets on hspda. it can last 5 to 7.5 hours of screen on time depending on how intense the data use.

(note that screen on time is not the same as ios usage time which frankly no one knows how it is derived )

I wonder how to determinate usage time on ios, my 4s will last 4hrs of usage or maybe a bit more yet thr iphone 5 with a bigger screen plus LTE people claim battery life is the second coming lol makes me wonder if people really use the "smart" part of the phone cause my father called me a week ago he bought an iphone 5 (brand new) and he tells me that with 1 hr 40 minutes of "usage" and 15hrs standby the phone drops at 70%.

My problem is with the screen on usage time. Everyone knows battery drain is minimal with screen off. Universal for all smartphone. But only 10% extra with screen on a device like the Note II is questionable. Add o the fact that if you Google Note II battery life plus personal anecdotes you'll be met with complaints more than praise.

Unless he has ridiculously low/simple usage...

Why don't you prove that "Its just not possible" for my usage then if you want to call me a liar? The Galaxy Note 2 has a huge battery. It makes sense that I would have insanely good battery life.

And you know this better than me because you don't own a Galaxy Note II?

You're the one making the outrageous claims. The onus is on YOU to prove it and shut me up. Post the screenshots of your 80% battery life after 12 hrs of regular use.

For example. I've gotten up to 8hrs of usage and 16hrs standby with my iPhone on mild to regular usage (calls, messaging, web, music etc) and still have about 11% left after 17hrs. Attached is a screenshot to support my claim.

Why don't you define what "12 hrs of regular use" is from your sentence and see if you even read my posts. If you don't try to wriggle around, I could entertain your request tomorrow.

And an iPhone screenshot of it's "usage" is not very useful. Why don't you post the actual screen on time for it?

We're of course using your usage pattern here...

iOS don't record screen time but based on my estimates i'd say about 4.5-5 hrs roughly of screen time.

I don't know anyone with an iPhone who thinks it has a good battery :confused:

Really? Compared to most Android phones, it has amazing battery life considered the size of its battery.

95% left from 8am to 8pm? Haha... I guess you don't use your phone.

I have a note 2 and it's at 95% from 12AM to 8AM when I wake up. My iPhone would be about 98% battery life at that point. However, it really isn't a good guage.

I get about 5 hrs on screen time use with my Note 2.

iPhone usage is always a bit misleading I think as you can be listening to music for hours and hours so it doesn't always represent how long the battery lasts. Screen on time is more realistic although still not perfect.

Here's my most recent battery life on my Note 2. It was about 70% battery life last night. Just turned on my Note 2 and I got a battery low warning with 15% battery left.

Comparing my Note 2 without SIM to my iPhone 4S without SIM. This is when the phones aren't being used as my primary phone.

My Note 2:

1 day 16 hrs on battery.
40 mins of screen time.
15% battery life

My iPhone 4S:

Standby: 2 days, 6 hours
Usage: 7 hours, 29 mins
1% battery life

10% is like 45 min of screen on time (10% of a normal working day). that's quite long if you use the phone sparingly.

How can anyone be so sure they just came up with it to sell accessories? That's all.

Sensitive much?

1. Because Samsung is a company that makes money selling products including accessories?
2. Because Samsung is already selling flip cover accessories and still selling the regular flip covers to for the Galaxy S3 and S4?
3. Because the S view cover is suppose to be a improvement and more expensive item to the flip cover accessory Samsung is selling? I'm pretty sure all accessory makers come up with ideas, whether useful or not, to sell accessories. This includes Apple.

You don't think accessory makers come out with iPhone cases with a cutout window to sell accessories?

I believe it's a gimmick to sell accessories.
You believe it's a useful idea... that helps to sell accessories.

Other way, accessory makers always come out with new ideas to sell accessories.

Defensive much?
