Just wondering what colour everyone purchased!

I'm gonna pick up an S7 tomorrow :D

In Canada, we have 2 options: black and silver

any reason u chose black?
I would have chosen gold had the gold color been the same as least year. However this year they made it a darker bronze like gold.

Likewise would have chosen silver but was not given the option.

Black therefore was the only option to go for.

Silver. I love it. Droid life's such edge review has some great pics of it:

You can't go wrong with any color really, but the silver is a winner in my eyes.

[doublepost=1458784826][/doublepost]Did y'all know that there's an auto restart feature in the back up and reset settings?

It'll make it so that your device automatically reboots once a week at a set time. And it'll only do it if the screen is off, the device is not in use, and if you have 30%+ battery.

Neat feature. Any reason to not turn this on?

I went with black because I find other colors distract me from the screen. The silver looked really nice though, but I think it would reflect too much for me in sunlight.

Thanks guys :)

That's my dilemma - I heard that black is least reflecting and least distracting but that silver colour looks outstanding. The posted picture makes it look a bit unique among all the "typical" black & white smart phones out there

I know where I'm picking it up from has the black model on display hopefully I can get them to show me both colours.

I change my preference by the minute it seems lol

I have the silver, my wife has gold and my dad has black. They all look good, but the silver just stood out as unique, which is why I got it. But you seriously can't go wrong with any of the colours.

Q1. So I've gone back to basic mode display colour wise. Anyone else using anything other than default adaptive display setting ?

Q2. Is anyone else using the no app drawer option and how are you adjusting ?

I'm actually really happy with it. One of my gripes with TW has been the insistence of the app drawer icon on the right of the dock rather than centre. As a lefty it always bugged me. Also the other thing I've always done with app drawers is micro manage them, having to put stuff into folders. Organise where things are, essentially you end up managing and arranging not only home screens but app drawer, which is essentially doing a job twice. Now I'm using no app drawer I'm finding I only have to manage my apps once. I thought I'd miss it on android but after two or three days I adjusted and prefer it now.

Q1 Default

Q2 I'm pro app draw as I prefer minimalist home screen and as the new edge panel is now more functional was part of the edge appeal for me. Even my apps are all organised in to one screen as I hate the swiping and scanning for icons

Same here. Everything on one screen and top 10 apps swiped via Edge display

Well I got the S7. Ended up keeping my broken screen S6 since either way would of cost me over $200. I'll get it fixed later and then sell it.

As for the S7, the battery life is very good....for a nice change. It isn't IMO any faster than my S6 was and I only bad two color choices. Black or Gold and don't care for either so I chose gold since it is the lighter color. Still don't like it much. Like the looks of my white S6 much better.
Really liked the silver Edge color but I'm just not interested in a Edge at all. Don't know why you don't offer all the colors to all models. Just stupid. Also don't like how my home screen is set to a default instead of being able to choose right away which one I want to use. I have been using TW a lot lately.
Anyways, it's alright. Never going to love the gold color and I'm not getting the wireless charger as I never have. Don't need it. Will be getting a 64GB micro card. That's plenty of space.

Well some got the VR. Ireland's two main networks combined for a lousy 100 units between them, which is frankly a bit of a joke. Whilst stocks last has never rung so hollow ... :(

Q1, I'm still using adaptive, though there are times I want to go back to basic because the extra saturation hurts my eyes, but other times it looks incredible.

Q2, I'm using the Google Now launcher along with a nice material theme (android 6.0), and with the condensed setting it's giving me the 5x5 grid. Also using the icon changer you posted in a another thread, and it's been great, really feels like stock+. I am also prefer having the app drawer, though mainly because I carry a ton of apps so when I set up my folders I actually put some apps in 2 folders (such as Samsung Pay in my "Samsung Apps" folder, but also in my "Shopping" folder, or YouTube in my Entertainment folder, but also in my "Google" folder. But I guess it wouldn't be a huge deal if I lost that ability.

Here's mine with app drawer.
It consists of a single Home screen + a single app drawer page organised.

So I have two places to organise and duplicate icons between home & app drawer. + that right aligned app drawer icon.

Whereas without an app drawer ...

Here I have again just fundamentally two screens, however less icons because there is no duplication so I only have to manage my apps in one place.

I actually think it looks more organised than the app drawer because of that.

Its an interesting change and one that for me that makes me realise that the app drawer maybe doesn't define android as much as people think it does (remembering the discussion prior to release that N was going to do away with app drawer).

Are there any actual uses for the curved display besides looks?

Well there are the edge features (people edge, apps edge) which are initiated with a swipe in. Though admittedly they could be done on and work just as well on standard S7. There are apps like sidebar pro which offered similar to 'apps edge' which existed before the s6 edge came out.

For me the aesthetics are enough to justify the edge personally. It's not without some practicality issues at times but overall I like it.

I would read the numerous tech articles, as well as this thread. I mean that kindly :).

The answer is yes. The edge screen is very useful this time, and getting more so as more edge widgets, or whatever you want to call them, are released.

I use it for frequent naps, contacts, Taft, RAM usage, Twitter Trends, sports scores, and there are numerous other possibilities. I combine that with the sideswiping nature of Action Launcher 3, and it's extremely fast and useful combination.

****

I know I promised the review of this phone, and I'm not fooling myself thinking that everyone is waiting on the tips of their toes. I've been so darn busy, that I haven't had time. I might still write up a review, but the best thing I can say about this phone is I have stopped worrying about it. I don't have any problems with it, it functions perfectly for me, and as such I am not interested in reading about problems or people's opinions or defending phone. I don't need to do any special tricks to get it to function correctly. It's a great and dependable phone, on par with the iPhone, with the advantages of the Samsung Hardware in Android openness.

I don't think LG stands a chance competing with it, as long as their UI continues to be so poor, in my opinion. Hopefully their ui is better then last year, but I don't think it is that different.

The upcoming HTC phone is interesting, but I would be surprised if there's some major compromises like there has been for the last few major HTC phones. Long-term support maybe a worries with their financial situation.

The recycle design of the new iPhone, combined with the increased price point of the iPad Pro 9.7, that is limited with 2 gigabytes of RAM, doesn't increase my for Apple. The iPad needed something Innovative to keep it from continuing to decline in sales numbers, and apple didn't really produce anything like that. So I'm curious what we will see or won't see in the next iPhone.

I think the next Nexus or note will be the phone that outshines the Galaxy

I'm finding the edge panel useful for a few simple things. My first page are quick contacts. Helpful. My second page are shortcuts to apps I use often but not often enough to dedicate a home screen to. Also helpful. It basically is a slightly more convenient way to get to certain things. And it's nice that it's always available and is good enough to reliably execute commands from, but I'd argue it's at the bottom of the list of reasons to go with the edge.

The better reasons are aesthetics and interaction with the screen (both in viewing and in using of said screen). Everything is a joy to read and watch on this edge panel. The best way to describe it is that everything just pops. Gives it an almost 3d effect, like everything you're seeing is floating above the physical device. This is especially noticeable when you go back to using a regular display. Other phones now look strangely too flat! And in terms of using it, slide out menus are easier and more natural. Scrolling through alphabet list on the right edge of the screen for songs or contacts feels intuitive and great. It's really every day things like this that make the edge screen sing.

As for one handed use, there is a slight learning curve on how to handle the device without accidental touches. But Samsung has really done their best in design and ergonomics to help you out. And they've largely succeeded. All new and novel tech requires a bit of learning curve. Once you get the hang of it and know your way around the phone, only then can you really appreciate what Samsung has achieved here. Reading or even watching demos of it do it little justice compared to owning it and using the device on a daily basis.

All in all, the edge screen is a win. Be it the slightly useful software features or the more important every day gains from simply having such a gorgeous panel that is also android-friendly (slide out menus, alphabet lists, etc). Then you factor in the design and ergonomics such a display allows, and you can begin to see why there is so much praise. It's the overall experience of the edge panel that makes it.

I got my matte black dbrand skin applied to the back of my S7. Looks very good and does away with the fingerprint madness on the back. I wouldn't necessarily say it reduces slipperiness, but it's a perfect fit and a nice addition.

Oh, and MRU, I'm using Basic mode with an app drawer.

On the S6 Edge it was more of a gimmick. Samsung didn't allow for development by 3rd parties, so it was stagnant and limited to just a few apps.

On the S7, Samsung learned from their mistakes. The Edge area now allows for developers to create new and unique apps, the usable area is now double the size, content is richer than before.... Can you get by without it? Sure. It isn't a "must have". I like minimal screens, and this allows me to keep a screen tidy looking and be able to use it one handed. I can swipe with my thumb and get my top 5 primary contacts, top 10 apps I use, top 10 web pages I go to, view stock data, view current trending world news, see live weather info for my area, and view my schedule for the day.
All this would have required me to open an app, minimize app, open another app, minimize, repeat over and over. Now, it is all ready for me on the edge of the screen with a flick of my thumb.
